A Psalm of David.] Give ear to my words, O Jehovah; consider my meditation.2 Hearken unto the voice of my crying, my king and my God; for to thee will I pray.3 Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice; in the morning will I address myself to thee, and will look up.4 For thou art not a *God that hath pleasure in wickedness; evil shall not sojourn with thee.5 Insolent fools shall not stand before thine eyes; thou hatest all workers of iniquity.6 Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhorreth a man of blood and deceit.7 But as for me, in the greatness of thy loving-kindness will I enter thy house; I will bow down toward the temple of thy holiness in thy fear.8 Lead me, Jehovah, in thy righteousness, because of my foes; make thy way plain before me.9 For there is no certainty in their mouth; their inward part is perversion, their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.10 Bring guilt upon them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels: drive them out in the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against thee.11 And all that trust in thee shall rejoice: for ever shall they shout joyously, and thou wilt protect them; and they that love thy name shall exult in thee.12 For thou, Jehovah, wilt bless the righteous {man}; with favour wilt thou surround him as {with} a shield.

Ein Psalm von David.2 Nimm zu Ohren, Jahwe, meine Worte, merke auf mein Nachsinnen {O. meine Klage}!3 Horche auf die Stimme meines Schreiens, mein König und mein Gott! denn zu dir bete ich.4 Frühe {W. am Morgen} wirst du, Jahwe, meine Stimme hören, frühe {W. am Morgen} werde ich mein Anliegen dir vorstellen und harren {Eig. ausschauen}.5 Denn nicht ein Gott {El} bist du, der an Gesetzlosigkeit Gefallen hat; bei dir wird das Böse {O. der Böse} nicht weilen.6 Nicht werden die Toren {O. die Prahler, die Übermütigen} bestehen vor deinen Augen; du hassest alle, die Frevel tun.7 Du wirst vertilgen die Lügenredner; den Mann des Blutes und des Truges verabscheut Jahwe.8 Ich aber, ich werde in der {O. durch die} Grösse deiner Güte eingehen in dein Haus, ich werde anbeten {Eig. mich niederwerfen} in deiner Furcht gegen deinen heiligen Tempel {S. die Anm. zu 1. Kön. 6,3}.9 Leite mich, Jahwe, in deiner Gerechtigkeit um meiner Feinde {Eig. Nachsteller} willen; ebne vor mir deinen Weg.10 Denn in ihrem Munde ist nichts Zuverlässiges; ihr Inneres ist Verderben, ein offenes Grab ihr Schlund; ihre Zunge glätten sie {d.h. sie schmeicheln}.11 Lass sie büssen, o Gott; mögen sie fallen durch ihre Anschläge! Stosse sie hinweg wegen der Menge ihrer Übertretungen! denn sie sind widerspenstig gegen dich gewesen.12 So werden sich freuen alle, die auf dich trauen: ewig werden sie jubeln, und du wirst sie beschirmen; und in dir werden frohlocken, die deinen Namen lieben.13 Denn du wirst den Gerechten segnen; Jahwe, mit Gunst wirst du ihn umgeben wie mit einem Schilde {Hier der grosse Schild, der den ganzen Mann deckte}.
