1 And the sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, took each of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and presented strange fire before Jehovah, which he had not commanded them. 2 And there went out fire from before Jehovah, and devoured them, and they died before Jehovah.

3 And Moses said to Aaron, This is what Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be hallowed in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron was silent. 4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. 5 And they went near, and carried them in their vests out of the camp, as Moses had said. 6 And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar his sons, Your heads shall ye not uncover, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come on all the assembly; but your brethren, the whole house of Israel, shall bewail the burning which Jehovah hath kindled. 7 And ye shall not go out from the entrance of the tent of meeting, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of Jehovah is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.

8 And Jehovah spoke to Aaron, saying, 9 Thou shalt not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, and thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tent of meeting, lest ye die — it is an everlasting statute throughout your generations, 10 that ye may put difference between the holy and the unholy, and between unclean and clean, 11 and that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which Jehovah hath spoken to them by the hand of Moses.

12 And Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the oblation that is left of Jehovah’s offerings by fire, and eat it with unleavened bread beside the altar; for it is most holy. 13 And ye shall eat it in a holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of Jehovah’s offerings by fire; for so I am commanded. 14 And the breast of the wave-offering, and the shoulder of the heave-offering shall ye eat in a clean place, thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee; for as thy due, and thy sons' due, are they given of the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the children of Israel. 15 The shoulder of the heave-offering and the breast of the wave-offering shall they bring, with the fire-offering of the pieces of fat, to wave them as a wave-offering before Jehovah; and they shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, for an everlasting statute, as Jehovah has commanded. 16 And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering, and behold, it was burnt up: then he was wroth with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron that were left, saying, 17 Why have ye not eaten the sin-offering in a holy place? for it is most holy, and he has given it to you that ye might bear the iniquity of the assembly, to make atonement for them before Jehovah. 18 Lo, its blood was not brought in within the sanctuary: ye should certainly have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded. 19 And Aaron said to Moses, Behold, to-day have they presented their sin-offering and their burnt-offering before Jehovah; and such things have befallen me; and had I to-day eaten the sin-offering, would it have been good in the sight of Jehovah? 20 And Moses heard it; and it was good in his sight.

Cap. 21:6,17,21.Is. 52:11.Ezec. 20:41;42:13. de Mine și voi fi proslăvit*Is. 49:3.Ezec. 28:22.Ioan 13:31,32;14:13.2 Tes. 1:10. în fața întregului popor.’" Aaron*Ps. 39:9. a tăcut. 4 Și Moise a chemat pe Mișael și Elțafan, fiii lui Uziel*Exod 6:18,22.Num. 3:19,30., unchiul lui Aaron, și le-a zis: „Apropiați-vă, scoateți*Luca 7:12.Fapte 5:6,9,10;8:2. pe frații voștri din Sfântul Locaș și duceți-i afară din tabără." 5 Ei s-au apropiat și i-au scos afară din tabără, îmbrăcați în tunicile lor, cum zisese Moise. 6 Moise a zis lui Aaron, lui Eleazar și lui Itamar, fiii lui Aaron: „Să nu vă descoperiți capetele*Exod 33:5. Cap. 13:45;21:1,10.Num. 6:6,7.Deut. 33:9.Ezec. 24:16,17. și să nu vă rupeți hainele, ca nu cumva să muriți și să Se mânie*Num. 16:22,46.Ios. 7:1;22:18,20.2 Sam. 24:1. Domnul împotriva întregii adunări. Lăsați pe frații voștri, pe toată casa lui Israel, să plângă arderea care a venit de la Domnul. 7 Voi să nu ieșiți din*Cap. 21:12. ușa cortului întâlnirii, ca să nu muriți, căci untdelemnul*Exod 28:41. Cap. 8:30. ungerii Domnului este peste voi." Ei au făcut cum zisese Moise.

8 Domnul a vorbit lui Aaron și a zis: 9 „Tu și fiii tăi împreună cu tine să nu beți*Ezec. 44:21.Luca 1:15.1 Tim. 3:3.Tit 1:7. vin, nici băutură amețitoare când veți intra în cortul întâlnirii, ca să nu muriți: aceasta va fi o lege veșnică printre urmașii voștri, 10 ca să puteți deosebi*Cap. 11:47;20:25.Ier. 15:19.Ezec. 22:26;44:23. ce este sfânt de ce nu este sfânt, ce este necurat de ce este curat, 11 și să*Deut. 24:8.Neem. 8:2,8,9,13.Ier. 18:18.Mal. 2:7. puteți învăța pe copiii lui Israel toate legile pe care li le-a dat Domnul prin Moise." 12 Moise a zis lui Aaron, lui Eleazar și lui Itamar, cei doi fii care mai rămăseseră lui Aaron: „Luați partea din darul de mâncare*Exod 29:2. Cap. 6:16.Num. 18:9,10. rămasă din jertfele mistuite de foc înaintea Domnului și mâncați-o fără aluat lângă altar, căci este un lucru*Cap. 21:22. preasfânt. 13 S-o mâncați într-un loc sfânt; acesta este dreptul tău și dreptul fiilor tăi, ca parte din darurile de mâncare mistuite de foc înaintea Domnului, căci așa mi-a*Cap. 2:3;6:16. fost poruncit. 14 Să mâncați, de asemenea, într-un loc curat, tu, fiii tăi și fiicele tale împreună cu tine, pieptul*Exod 29:24,26,27. Cap. 7:31,34.Num. 18:11. care a fost legănat într-o parte și alta și spata care a fost adusă ca jertfă prin ridicare, căci ele vă sunt date, ca un drept cuvenit ție și ca un drept cuvenit fiilor tăi, din jertfele de mulțumire ale copiilor lui Israel. 15 Împreună cu grăsimile rânduite să fie mistuite de foc, ei vor aduce spata adusă*Cap. 7:29,30,34. ca jertfă prin ridicare și pieptul care se leagănă într-o parte și alta înaintea Domnului; ele vor fi ale tale și ale fiilor tăi împreună cu tine, printr-o lege veșnică, așa cum a poruncit Domnul." 16 Moise a căutat țapul*Cap. 9:3,15. adus ca jertfă de ispășire și iată că fusese ars. Atunci s-a mâniat pe Eleazar și Itamar, fiii care mai rămăseseră lui Aaron, și a zis: 17 „Pentru*Cap. 6:26,29. ce n-ați mâncat jertfa de ispășire într-un loc sfânt? Ea este un lucru preasfânt, și Domnul v-a dat-o ca să purtați nelegiuirea adunării și să faceți ispășire pentru ea înaintea Domnului. 18 Iată că sângele*Cap. 6:30. jertfei n-a fost dus înăuntrul Sfântului Locaș; trebuia s-o mâncați în Sfântul Locaș, cum*Cap. 6:26. am poruncit." 19 Aaron a răspuns lui Moise: „Iată*Cap. 9:8,12., ei și-au adus azi jertfa de ispășire și arderea-de-tot înaintea Domnului și, după cele ce mi s-au întâmplat, dacă aș fi mâncat azi jertfa de ispășire, ar fi fost bine*Ier. 6:20;14:12.Osea 9:4.Mal. 1:10,13. oare înaintea Domnului?" 20 Moise a auzit și a fost mulțumit cu aceste cuvinte.
