1 And Jehovah said to Moses, Speak unto the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none make himself unclean for a dead person among his peoples, 2 except for his immediate relation, who is near unto him — for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother; 3 and for his sister, a virgin, that is near unto him, who hath had no husband, for her may he make himself unclean. 4 He shall not make himself unclean who is a chief among his peoples, to profane himself. 5 They shall not make any baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corners of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh. 6 They shall be holy unto their God*GodHebrew: Elohim and not profane the name of their God*GodHebrew: Elohim for they present Jehovah’s offerings by fire, the bread of their God*GodHebrew: Elohim therefore shall they be holy. 7 They shall not take as wife a whore, or a dishonoured woman; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband; for he is holy unto his God*GodHebrew: Elohim8 And thou shalt hallow him; for the bread of thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim doth he present: he shall be holy unto thee; for I, Jehovah, who hallow you am holy. 9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burned with fire.

10 And the high priest among his brethren, on whose head the anointing oil was poured, and who is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his garments. 11 Neither shall he come near any person dead, nor make himself unclean for his father and for his mother; 12 neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God*GodHebrew: Elohim for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God*GodHebrew: Elohim is upon him: I am Jehovah. 13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity. 14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or a dishonoured one, a harlot, these shall he not take; but he shall take as wife a virgin from among his peoples. 15 And he shall not profane his seed among his peoples; for I am Jehovah who do hallow him.

16 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, 17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Any of thy seed throughout their generations that hath any defect, shall not approach to present the bread of his God*GodHebrew: Elohim18 for whatever man hath a defect, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or one limb longer than the other, 19 or a man that is broken-footed, or broken-handed, 20 or hump-backed, or withered, or that hath a spot in his eye, or hath the itch, or scabs, or his testicles broken. 21 No man of the seed of Aaron the priest that hath defect shall come near to present Jehovah’s offerings by fire: he hath a defect; he shall not come near to present the bread of his God*GodHebrew: Elohim22 The bread of his God*GodHebrew: Elohim of the most holy and of the holy, shall he eat; 23 only he shall not come in unto the veil, nor shall he draw near unto the altar; for he hath a defect: that he profane not my sanctuaries; for I am Jehovah who do hallow them. 24 And Moses told it to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel.

1 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Vorbește preoților, fiilor lui Aaron, și spune-le:

‘Un preot*Ezec. 44:25. să nu se atingă de un mort din poporul său, ca să nu se facă necurat; 2 afară de rudele lui cele mai de aproape: de mama lui, de tatăl lui, de fiul lui, de fratele lui 3 și de soră-sa care-i încă fecioară, stă lângă el și nu este măritată; afară de aceștia, să nu se atingă de niciun alt mort. 4 Ca unul care este fruntaș în poporul lui, să nu se facă necurat atingându-se de un mort. 5 Preoții*Cap. 19:27,28.Deut. 14:1.Ezec. 44:20. să nu-și facă un loc pleșuv în cap pentru un mort, să nu-și radă colțurile bărbii și să nu-și facă tăieturi în carne. 6 Să fie sfinți pentru Dumnezeul lor și să nu necinstească*Cap. 18:21;19:12. Numele Dumnezeului lor, căci ei aduc Domnului jertfele mistuite de foc, mâncarea Dumnezeului lor, de aceea să fie sfinți. 7 Să nu-și ia de nevastă o curvă*Ezec. 44:22. sau o spurcată, nici o femeie lăsată*Deut. 24:1,2. de bărbatul ei, căci ei sunt sfinți pentru Dumnezeul lor. 8 Să-l socotești ca sfânt, căci el aduce mâncarea Dumnezeului tău; el să fie sfânt pentru tine, căci Eu*Cap. 20:7,8. sunt sfânt, Eu, Domnul, care vă sfințesc. 9 Dacă fata*Gen. 38:24. unui preot se necinstește curvind, necinstește pe tatăl ei: să fie arsă în foc.

10 Preotul*Exod 29:29,30. Cap. 8:12;16:32.Num. 35:25. care este mare preot între frații lui, pe capul căruia a fost turnat untdelemnul pentru ungere și care*Exod 28:2. Cap. 16:32. a fost închinat în slujba Domnului și îmbrăcat în veșminte sfințite, să nu-și descopere*Cap. 10:6. capul și să nu-și sfâșie veșmintele. 11 Să nu se ducă la niciun*Num. 19:14. Vers. 1,2. mort; să nu se facă necurat și să nu se atingă nici chiar de tatăl său sau de mama sa. 12 Să nu iasă*Cap. 10:7. din Sfântul Locaș și să nu necinstească Sfântul Locaș al Dumnezeului său, căci untdelemnul ungerii Dumnezeului său este o*Exod 28:36. Cap. 8:9,12,30. cunună pe el. Eu sunt Domnul. 13 Femeia*Vers. 7.Ezec. 44:22. pe care o va lua el de nevastă să fie fecioară. 14 Să nu ia nici o văduvă, nici o femeie despărțită de bărbat, nici o femeie spurcată sau curvă, ci femeia pe care o va lua de nevastă din poporul său să fie fecioară. 15 Să nu-și necinstească sămânța în poporul lui, căci Eu*Vers. 8. sunt Domnul, care-l sfințesc.’"

16 Domnul a vorbit lui Moise și a zis: 17 „Vorbește lui Aaron și spune-i:

‘Niciun om din neamul tău și din urmașii tăi care va avea o meteahnă trupească să nu se apropie*Cap. 10:3.Num. 16:5.Ps. 65:4. ca să aducă mâncarea Dumnezeului lui. 18 Niciun om care va avea o meteahnă trupească nu va putea să se apropie, și anume niciun om orb, șchiop, cu nasul cârn sau cu un mădular*Cap. 22:23. mai lung; 19 niciun om cu piciorul frânt sau cu mâna frântă; 20 niciun om ghebos sau pipernicit, cu albeață în ochi, care are râie, pecingine sau*Deut. 23:1. boșit. 21 Niciun om din neamul preotului Aaron care va avea vreo meteahnă trupească să nu se apropie ca să aducă*Vers. 6. Domnului jertfele mistuite de foc; are o meteahnă trupească – să nu se apropie ca să aducă mâncarea Dumnezeului lui. 22 Din mâncarea Dumnezeului lui, fie lucruri preasfinte*Cap. 2:3,10;6:17,29;7:1;24:9.Num. 18:9., fie lucruri sfinte*Cap. 22:10-12.Num. 18:19., va putea să mănânce. 23 Dar să nu se ducă la perdeaua dinăuntru și să nu se apropie de altar, căci are o meteahnă trupească; să nu-Mi necinstească*Vers. 12. locașurile Mele cele sfinte, căci Eu sunt Domnul, care îi sfințesc.’" 24 Astfel a vorbit Moise lui Aaron și fiilor săi și tuturor copiilor lui Israel.
