1 For the kingdom of the heavens is like a householder who went out with the early morn to hire workmen for his vineyard. 2 And having agreed with the workmen for a denarius the day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And having gone out about the third hour, he saw others standing in the market-place idle; 4 and to them he said, Go also ye into the vineyard, and whatsoever may be just I will give you. And they went their way. 5 Again, having gone out about the sixth and ninth hour, he did likewise. 6 But about the eleventh hour, having gone out, he found others standing, and says to them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 7 They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He says to them, Go also ye into the vineyard and whatsoever may be just ye shall receive. 8 But when the evening was come, the lord of the vineyard says to his steward, Call the workmen and pay them their wages, beginning from the last even to the first. 9 And when they who came to work about the eleventh hour came, they received each a denarius. 10 And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more, and they received also themselves each a denarius. 11 And on receiving it they murmured against the master of the house, 12 saying, These last have worked one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the heat. 13 But he answering said to one of them, My friend, I do not wrong thee. Didst thou not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is thine and go. But it is my will to give to this last even as to thee: 15 is it not lawful for me to do what I will in my own affairs? Is thine eye evil because I am good? 16 Thus shall the last be first, and the first last; for many are called ones, but few chosen ones.

17 And Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples with him apart in the way, and said to them, 18 Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death; 19 and they will deliver him up to the nations to mock and to scourge and to crucify, and the third day he shall rise again.

20 Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, doing homage, and asking something of him. 21 And he said to her, What wilt thou? She says to him, Speak the word that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand and one on thy left in thy kingdom. 22 And Jesus answering said, Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye drink the cup which I am about to drink? They say to him, We are able. 23 And he says to them, Ye shall drink indeed my cup, but to sit on my right hand and on my left, is not mine to give, but to those for whom it is prepared of my Father. 24 And the ten, having heard of it, were indignant about the two brothers. 25 But Jesus having called them to him, said, Ye know that the rulers of the nations exercise lordship over them, and the great exercise authority over them. 26 It shall not be thus amongst you, but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your servant; 27 and whosoever will be first among you, let him be your bondman; 28 as indeed the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.

29 And as they went out from Jericho a great crowd followed him. 30 And lo, two blind men, sitting by the wayside, having heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David. 31 But the crowd rebuked them, that they might be silent. But they cried out the more, saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David. 32 And Jesus, having stopped, called them and said, What will ye that I shall do to you? 33 They say to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. 34 And Jesus, moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes had sight restored to them, and they followed him.

1 Fiindcă Împărăția cerurilor se aseamănă cu un gospodar care a ieșit dis-de-dimineață să-și tocmească lucrători la vie.2 S-a învoit cu lucrătorii cu câte un leu*20:2 Grecește: dinar.pe zi și i-a trimis la vie.3 A ieșit pe la ceasul al treilea și a văzut pe alții stând în piață fără lucru.4 ‘Duceți-vă și voi în via mea’, le-a zis el, ‘și vă voi da ce va fi cu dreptul.’ Și s-au dus.5 A ieșit iarăși pe la ceasul al șaselea și al nouălea și a făcut la fel.6 Când a ieșit pe la ceasul al unsprezecelea, a găsit pe alții stând în piață și le-a zis: ‘De ce stați aici toată ziua fără lucru?’7 Ei i-au răspuns: ‘Pentru că nu ne-a tocmit nimeni.’ ‘Duceți-vă și voi în via mea’, le-a zis el, ‘și veți primi ce va fi cu dreptul.’8 Seara, stăpânul viei a zis ispravnicului său: ‘Cheamă pe lucrători și dă-le plata, începând de la cei de pe urmă până la cei dintâi.’9 Cei din ceasul al unsprezecelea au venit și au luat, fiecare, câte un leu.10 Când au venit cei dintâi, socoteau că vor primi mai mult, dar au primit și ei tot câte un leu de fiecare.11 După ce au primit banii, cârteau împotriva gospodarului12 și ziceau: ‘Aceștia de pe urmă n-au lucrat decât un ceas, și la plată i-ai făcut deopotrivă cu noi, care am suferit greul și zăduful zilei.’13 Drept răspuns, el a zis unuia dintre ei: ‘Prietene, ție nu-ți fac nicio nedreptate. Nu te-ai tocmit cu mine cu un leu?14 Ia-ți ce ți se cuvine și pleacă. Eu vreau să plătesc și acestuia din urmă ca și ție.15 Nu pot*Rom. 9:2.să fac ce vreau cu ce-i al meu? Ori*Deut. 15:9.Prov. 23:6. Cap. 6:23.este ochiul tău rău, fiindcă eu sunt bun?’16 Tot așa*Cap. 19:30., cei din urmă vor fi cei dintâi, și cei dintâi vor fi cei din urmă; pentru că*Cap. 22:14.mulți sunt chemați, dar puțini sunt aleși."

17 Pe când*Marcu 10:32.Luca 18:31.Ioan 12:12. Se suia Isus la Ierusalim, pe drum, a luat deoparte pe cei doisprezece ucenici și le-a zis: 18 „Iată*Cap. 16:21.că ne suim la Ierusalim, și Fiul omului va fi dat în mâinile preoților celor mai de seamă și cărturarilor. Ei Îl vor osândi la moarte19 și-L*Cap. 27:2.Marcu 15:1.Luca 23:1.Ioan 18:28.Fapte 3:13.vor da în mâinile neamurilor, ca să-L batjocorească, să-L bată și să-L răstignească, dar a treia zi va învia."

20 Atunci*Marcu 10:35., mama fiilor*Cap. 4:21. lui Zebedei s-a apropiat de Isus, împreună cu fiii ei, și I s-a închinat, vrând să-I facă o cerere. 21 El a întrebat-o: „Ce vrei?" „Poruncește", I-a zis ea, „ca, în Împărăția Ta, acești doi fii ai mei să șadă*Cap. 19:28. unul la dreapta și altul la stânga Ta." 22 Drept răspuns, Isus a zis: „Nu știți ce cereți. Puteți voi să beți paharul*Cap. 26:39,42.Marcu 14:36.Luca 22:42.Ioan 18:16.pe care am să-l beau Eu și să fiți botezați cu botezul*Luca 12:50.cu care am să fiu botezat Eu?" „Putem", I-au zis ei. 23 Și El le-a răspuns: „Este adevărat*Fapte 12:2.Rom. 8:17.2 Cor. 1:7.Apoc. 1:9.că veți bea paharul Meu și veți fi botezați cu botezul cu care am să fiu botezat Eu, dar a ședea la dreapta și la stânga Mea nu atârnă de Mine s-o*Cap. 25:34.dau, ci este păstrată pentru aceia pentru care a fost pregătită de Tatăl Meu."24 Cei zece, când*Marcu 10:41.Luca 22:24,25. au auzit, s-au mâniat pe cei doi frați. 25 Isus i-a chemat și le-a zis: „Știți că domnitorii neamurilor domnesc peste ele, și mai-marii lor le poruncesc cu stăpânire.26 Între*1 Pet. 5:3.voi să nu fie așa. 29 Când*Marcu 10:46.Luca 18:35. au ieșit din Ierihon, o mare gloată a mers după Isus. 30 Și doi*Cap. 9:27. orbi ședeau lângă drum. Ei au auzit că trece Isus și au început să strige: „Ai milă de noi, Doamne, Fiul lui David!" 31 Gloata îi certa să tacă. Dar ei mai tare strigau: „Ai milă de noi, Doamne, Fiul lui David!" 32 Isus S-a oprit, i-a chemat și le-a zis: „Ce vreți să vă fac?"33 „Doamne", I-au zis ei, „să ni se deschidă ochii!" 34 Lui Isus I s-a făcut milă de ei, S-a atins de ochii lor și îndată orbii și-au căpătat vederea și au mers după El.
