1 Se o Senhor não for o construtor da casa,
inútil será o trabalho dos construtores.
Se o Senhor não vigiar a cidade,
inútil será a vigília da sentinela.
2 Inútil será para vocês levantar cedo e dormir tarde,
trabalhando arduamente por alimento.
Pois ele concede o sono
a quem ama.127.2 Ou Pois ele provê aos seus amados / enquanto dormem.
3 Os filhos são herança do Senhor,
e os frutos do ventre, uma recompensa.
4 Como flechas nas mãos do guerreiro
são os filhos nascidos na juventude.
5 Bem-aventurado o homem
que tem a sua aljava cheia deles!
Não será humilhado quando enfrentar
os seus inimigos no tribunal.
