Salmos 33

1 Cantem de alegria ao Senhor, vocês que são justos;

aos que são retos fica bem louvá-lo.

2 Louvem ao Senhor com harpa;

ofereçam-lhe música com lira de dez cordas.

3 Cantem-lhe uma nova canção;

toquem com habilidade ao aclamá-lo.

4 Pois a palavra do Senhor é íntegra;

ele é fiel em tudo o que faz.

5 Ele ama a justiça e a retidão;

a terra está cheia do amor leal do Senhor.

6 Pela palavra do Senhor foram feitos os céus,

e, pelo sopro da sua boca, tudo o que neles há.*33.6 Hebraico: e todo o seu exército.

7 Ele ajunta as águas do mar como uma parede;*33.7 Ou como em odres.

nas profundezas faz reservatórios.

8 Toda a terra tema ao Senhor;

tremam diante dele todos os habitantes do mundo.

9 Pois ele falou, e tudo se fez;

ele ordenou, e tudo se estabeleceu.

10 O Senhor desfaz os planos das nações

e frustra os propósitos dos povos.

11 Os planos do Senhor, porém, permanecem para sempre;

os propósitos do seu coração, por todas as gerações.

12 Bem-aventurada a nação cujo Deus é o Senhor,

o povo que ele escolheu para lhe pertencer!

13 Dos céus olha o Senhor

e vê toda a humanidade;

14 do lugar da sua habitação*33.14 Ou do seu trono. ele observa

todos os habitantes da terra;

15 ele, que forma o coração de todos,

que conhece tudo o que fazem.

16 Nenhum rei se salva pelo tamanho do seu exército;

nenhum guerreiro escapa pela sua grande força.

17 O cavalo é vã esperança de vitória;

apesar da sua grande força, é incapaz de salvar.

18 Os olhos do Senhor voltam-se para aqueles que o temem,

para aqueles que firmam a esperança no seu amor leal,

19 a fim de livrá-los da morte e garantir-lhes vida,

mesmo em tempos de fome.

20 A nossa esperança está no Senhor;

ele é o nosso auxílio e o nosso escudo.

21 Nele se alegra o nosso coração,

pois confiamos no seu santo nome.

22 Esteja sobre nós o teu amor leal, Senhor,

como em ti está a nossa esperança.

1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.

2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.*33.5 goodness: or, mercy

6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.*33.10 bringeth: Heb. maketh frustrate

11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.*33.11 to all…: Heb. to generation and generation

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
