1 Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east); and the water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar.2 Then he brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me round on the outside to the outer gate, that faces toward the east; and the water was coming out on the south side.3 Going on eastward with a line in his hand, the man measured a thousand cubits, and then led me through the water; and it was ankle-deep.4 Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water; and it was knee-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water; and it was up to the loins.5 Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen; it was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be passed through.6 And he said to me, "Son of man, have you seen this?" Then he led me back along the bank of the river.7 As I went back, I saw upon the bank of the river very many trees on the one side and on the other.8 And he said to me, "This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah; and when it enters the stagnant waters of the sea, the water will become fresh.9 And wherever the river goes every living creature which swarms will live, and there will be very many fish; for this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.10 Fishermen will stand beside the sea; from En-ge'di to En-eg'laim it will be a place for the spreading of nets; its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.11 But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they are to be left for salt.12 And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing."13 Thus says the Lord GOD: "These are the boundaries by which you shall divide the land for inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph shall have two portions.14 And you shall divide it equally; I swore to give it to your fathers, and this land shall fall to you as your inheritance.15 "This shall be the boundary of the land: On the north side, from the Great Sea by way of Hethlon to the entrance of Hamath, and on to Zedad,16 Bero'thah, Sib'raim (which lies on the border between Damascus and Hamath), as far as Hazer-hatticon, which is on the border of Hauran.17 So the boundary shall run from the sea to Hazar-e'non, which is on the northern border of Damascus, with the border of Hamath to the north. This shall be the north side.18 "On the east side, the boundary shall run from Hazar-e'non between Hauran and Damascus; along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel; to the eastern sea and as far as Tamar. This shall be the east side.19 "On the south side, it shall run from Tamar as far as the waters of Meribath-ka'desh, thence along the Brook of Egypt to the Great Sea. This shall be the south side.20 "On the west side, the Great Sea shall be the boundary to a point opposite the entrance of Hamath. This shall be the west side.21 "So you shall divide this land among you according to the tribes of Israel.22 You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the aliens who reside among you and have begotten children among you. They shall be to you as native-born sons of Israel; with you they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.23 In whatever tribe the alien resides, there you shall assign him his inheritance, says the Lord GOD.

1 O homem me levou de volta até a entrada do Templo. Debaixo da entrada, saía água que corria na direção do leste, pois o Templo dava frente para esse lado. A água corria por baixo do lado sul do Templo, ao sul do altar. 2 Então o homem me fez sair da área do Templo pelo portão norte e me levou pelo lado de fora até o portão que dá para o leste. Um riacho saía do lado sul do portão. 3 Com a sua vara de medir, o homem mediu quinhentos metros na direção da correnteza, para o leste. Ele me fez atravessar o riacho ali, e a água chegou aos meus tornozelos. 4 Em seguida, ele mediu mais quinhentos metros, e a água subiu até os meus joelhos. Mais quinhentos metros, e a água chegou até a minha cintura. 5 Finalmente, mediu mais quinhentos metros, e o rio era tão fundo, que eu não podia atravessar. Era fundo demais para ser atravessado, a não ser a nado. 6 Aí ele me disse:

— Homem mortal, preste muita atenção em tudo isso!

Então o homem me levou de novo para a margem. 7 Quando cheguei lá, vi que havia muitas árvores nos dois lados. 8 Então ele me disse:

— Esta água corre para o leste e desce até o rio Jordão e até o mar Morto. Quando entra neste mar, ela faz com que a água salgada do mar vire água doce. 9 Em todo lugar por onde esse rio passar, haverá todo tipo de animais e de peixes. O rio fará com que as águas do mar Morto fiquem boas e ele trará vida por onde passar. 10 Desde a Fonte de Gedi até a de Eglaim haverá pescadores na praia do mar, e ali eles estenderão as suas redes para secarem. Haverá ali muito peixe e muitas espécies de peixes, como no mar Mediterrâneo. 11 Mas nos brejos e nos charcos a água não ficará boa. Essa água servirá para a produção de sal. 12 Nas duas margens do rio, crescerão árvores frutíferas de todo tipo. As suas folhas nunca murcharão, e as árvores nunca deixarão de dar frutas. Darão frutas novas todos os meses, pois são regadas pelo rio que vem do Templo. As frutas servirão de alimento, e as folhas, de remédio.

13 O Senhor Deus disse:

— São estes os limites da terra que será dividida entre as doze tribos, sendo que a tribo de José receberá duas partes . 14 Eu jurei aos antepassados de vocês que daria esta terra a eles para ser sua propriedade. Agora dividam entre vocês a terra em partes iguais.

15 — Ao norte, a fronteira vai para o leste, do mar Mediterrâneo até a cidade de Hetlom, até a subida de Hamate, até as cidades de Zedade, 16 Berota e Sibraim (que ficam entre o território do Reino de Damasco e o do Reino de Hamate) e a cidade de Haticom (que está na fronteira do Reino de Haurã). 17 Ao norte, a fronteira vai para o leste, do mar Mediterrâneo até a cidade de Enom, ficando ao norte as regiões das fronteiras de Damasco e Hamate.

18 — A leste, a fronteira vai para o sul, de um lugar entre o território de Damasco e o de Haurã, sendo que o rio Jordão forma a divisa entre a terra de Israel, a oeste, e Gileade, a leste, até a cidade de Tamar, no mar Morto.

19 — Ao sul, a fronteira vai na direção do sudoeste, de Tamar até o oásis de Cades Meribá, e daí na direção noroeste ao longo da divisa do Egito até o mar Mediterrâneo.

20 — A oeste, a divisa é formada pelo Mediterrâneo e vai para o norte até um lugar a oeste da subida de Hamate.

21 — Dividam essa terra entre as suas tribos; 22 ela será de vocês como propriedade permanente. Quando vocês dividirem a terra, os estrangeiros que estiverem vivendo no meio de vocês e que tiverem tido filhos nascidos aqui receberão também a parte deles. Eles serão tratados como cidadãos israelitas e tirarão sorte para receber a sua parte junto com as tribos de Israel. 23 Cada estrangeiro que estiver morando em Israel receberá a sua parte junto com o povo da tribo no meio da qual estiver vivendo. Eu, o Senhor Deus, falei.
