1 Ο Σολομών ήταν βασιλιάς όλων των Ισραηλιτών. 2 Οι αξιωματούχοι του ήταν οι εξής:*Πρβλ. παρόμοιον κατάλογο εις Β΄ Σαμ 8:15-18. Ο Αζαρίας, γιος του Σαδώκ, ιερέας. 3 Οι Ελιχόρεφ και Αχιά, γιοι του Σεισά, γραμματείς. Ο Ιωσαφάτ, γιος του Αχιλούδ, υπομνηματογράφος. 4 Ο Βεναΐας, γιος του Ιεωϊαδά, αρχιστράτηγος, και οι Σαδώκ και Αβιάθαρ, ιερείς. 5 Ο Αζαρίας, γιος του Νάθαν, αρχηγός των διοικητών, και ο Ζαβούδ, ο γιος του Νάθαν, ιερέας και προσωπικός σύμβουλος του βασιλιά. 6 Ο Αχισάρ υπεύθυνος των ανακτόρων και ο Αδωνιράμ, γιος του Αβδά, επόπτης των αναγκαστικών εργασιών.

7 Ο Σολομών είχε δώδεκα διοικητές επαρχιών, διασκορπισμένους σ’ ολόκληρο το βασίλειο του Ισραήλ, οι οποίοι εφοδίαζαν με τρόφιμα το βασιλιά και τον οίκο του. Καθένας τους ήταν υπεύθυνος για τις προμήθειες των ανακτόρων επί ένα μήνα το χρόνο. 8 Τα ονόματά τους κατά επαρχίες είναι: Ο γιος του Χουρ, για την ορεινή περιοχή του Εφραΐμ. 9 Ο γιος του Δέκερ, για την περιοχή της Μακάς, της Σααλβίμ, της Βαιθ-Σεμές της Αιλών και της Βαιθ-Χανάν. 10 Ο γιος του Έσεδ στην Αρουβώθ, για την περιοχή της Σωχώ και της Χέφερ. 11 Ο γιος του Αβιναδάβ, για την περιοχή της Δωρ. Αυτός είχε πάρει γυναίκα του την Ταφάθ, κόρη του Σολομώντα. 12 Ο Βαανά, γιος του Αχιλούδ, για την περιοχή της Τανάκ και της Μεγιδδώ και για ολόκληρη την περιοχή της Βαιθ-Σεάν. (Η περιοχή της Βαιθ-Σεάν συνόρευε με τη Σαρθανά, νότια της Ιζρεέλ και εκτεινόταν από τη Βαιθ-Σεάν ως την Αβέλ-Μεχολά και μέχρι πέρα από την Ιοκνεάμ). 13 Ο γιος του Γέβερ στη Ραμώθ της Γαλαάδ. Στην περιοχή του ανήκαν τα χωριά του Ιαείρ, γιου του Μανασσή, στη Γαλαάδ, καθώς και η περιοχή της Αργόβ, στο οροπέδιο της Βασάν. Όλη αυτή η περιοχή απαριθμούσε εξήντα μεγάλες πόλεις οχυρωμένες με τείχη που διέθεταν χάλκινες αμπάρες. 14 Ο Αχιναδάβ, γιος του Ιδδώ, για την περιοχή της Μαχαναΐμ. 15 Ο Αχιμάας για την περιοχή της φυλής Νεφθαλί. Αυτός είχε πάρει γυναίκα του τη Βασεμάθ, κόρη του Σολομώντα. 16 Ο Βαανά, γιος του Χουσαΐ, για την περιοχή της φυλής Ασήρ και της Αλώθ. 17 Ο Ιωσαφάτ, γιος του Παρούαχ, για την περιοχή της φυλής Ισσάχαρ. 18 Ο Σιμεΐ, γιος του Ηλά, για την περιοχή της φυλής Βενιαμίν. 19 Ο Γέβερ, γιος του Ουρεί, για την περιοχή της φυλής Γαδ*της φυλής Γαδ, κατά τους Ο΄. Το εβρ. έχει «της Γαλαάδ», αλλά αντίθετοι οι στ. 13-14. (στις πρώην επικράτειες του Σιχόν, βασιλιά των Αμορραίων και του Ωγ, βασιλιά της Βασάν).

Πέρα απ’ αυτούς τους δώδεκα, υπήρχε κι ένας διοικητής για την περιοχή της φυλής Ιούδα.*Ο στ. αποδίδεται κατά τους Ο΄. Το εβρ. έχει «μόνο ένας διοικητής υπήρχε σ’ αυτή την περιοχή».

20 Οι κάτοικοι των βασιλείων του Ιούδα και του Ισραήλ ήταν πολλοί σαν την άμμο στην ακροθαλασσιά· έτρωγαν, έπιναν και ήταν ευτυχισμένοι.

20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry. 21 And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

22 And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,*4.22 provision: Heb. bread*4.22 measures: Heb. cors 23 Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl. 24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him. 25 And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.*4.25 safely: Heb. confidently

26 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. 27 And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing. 28 Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.*4.28 dromedaries: or, mules, or, swift beasts

29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. 30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. 32 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five. 33 And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes. 34 And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
