1 Να μην πάρει*Σε ορισμένες μετ. ο στ. 23:1 αριθμείται ως 22:30· κατά συνέπεια οι στ. 23:2-26 γίνονται 23:1-25. κανείς τη γυναίκα του πατέρα του για να μην ατιμάσει τον πατέρα του.

2 Όποιος ευνουχίστηκε με θλάση ή αποκοπή των γεννητικών του οργάνων, δεν μπορεί να γίνει δεκτός στην κοινότητα του Κυρίου. 3 Νόθος δεν μπορεί να γίνει δεκτός στην κοινότητα του Κυρίου ακόμα κι ως τη δέκατη γενιά των απογόνων του.

4 Οι Αμμωνίτες κι οι Μωαβίτες δεν μπορούν να γίνουν δεκτοί στην κοινότητα του Κυρίου ποτέ, ακόμα κι ως τη δέκατη γενιά των απογόνων τους. 5 Αυτοί αρνήθηκαν να έρθουν και να σας προμηθεύσουν ψωμί και νερό στο δρόμο, όταν βγήκατε από την Αίγυπτο. Αντίθετα, έστειλαν και κάλεσαν εναντίον σας το Βαλαάμ, γιο του Βεώρ, από την Πεθόρ, της Μεσοποταμίας και τον πλήρωσαν για να σας καταραστεί. 6 Αλλά ο Κύριος, ο Θεός σας, δε θέλησε ν’ ακούσει το Βαλαάμ, και μετέτρεψε για σας την κατάρα σε ευλογία, επειδή σας αγαπάει. 7 Μην επιδιώξεις ποτέ στη ζωή σου την προκοπή τους και το καλό τους.

8 Τους Εδωμίτες μην τους αποστρέφεστε γιατί αυτοί είναι συγγενικός σας λαός. Επίσης μην αποστρέφεστε τους Αιγυπτίους, γιατί έχετε μείνει ως ξένοι στη χώρα τους. 9 Η τρίτη γενιά των απογόνων τους μπορεί να γίνει δεκτή στην κοινότητα του Κυρίου.

10 Όταν εκστρατεύετε εναντίον των εχθρών σας και μένετε σε στρατόπεδο, να φυλάγεστε από ο,τιδήποτε μπορεί να σας καταστήσει ακάθαρτους. 11 Αν υπάρχει ανάμεσά σας κάποιος που δεν είναι καθαρός, επειδή έπαθε ονείρωξη, αυτός θα βγει έξω από το στρατόπεδο και δε θα μπει μέσα όλη την ημέρα. 12 Το δειλινό, θα πλυθεί με νερό και με τη δύση του ήλιου μπορεί να μπει στο στρατόπεδο.

13 Θα ορίζετε έναν τόπο έξω από το στρατόπεδο που να πηγαίνετε για τις φυσικές σας ανάγκες. 14 Καθένας να έχει μαζί με τον εξοπλισμό του ένα τσαπί και όταν πηγαίνει εκεί έξω, να σκάβει μ’ αυτό και μετά να σκεπάζει τα κόπρανά του. 15 Ο Κύριος, ο Θεός σας, πηγαινοέρχεται μέσα στο στρατόπεδό σας, για να σας προστατεύει και να κάνει τους εχθρούς σας να παραδίνονται μπροστά σας. Γι’ αυτό πρέπει το στρατόπεδο σας να είναι τόπος καθαρός· για να μη δει ο Κύριος εκεί κάτι ακάθαρτο και σας εγκαταλείψει.

16 Αν ένας δούλος φύγει από τον κύριό του και ζητήσει καταφύγιο κοντά σας, μην τον παραδώσετε στον κύριό του. 17 Θα εγκατασταθεί ανάμεσά σας, στον τόπο που θα διαλέξει σε μία από τις πόλεις σας, όπου του αρέσει· δε θα τον εκμεταλλευτείτε όμως.

18 Κανείς Ισραηλίτης, άντρας ή γυναίκα, δεν πρέπει να επιδοθεί στην ιερή πορνεία. 19 Δε θα φέρετε στο ναό του Κυρίου, του Θεού σας την αμοιβή πόρνης ή το χρήμα κίναιδου, για να εκπληρώσετε οποιοδήποτε τάμα· είναι και τα δυο βδελυρές πράξεις για τον Κύριο, το Θεό σας.

20 Μη δανείσεις στο συμπατριώτη σου χρήματα με τόκο ή τρόφιμα με τόκο ή ο,τιδήποτε άλλο δανειστεί από σένα. 21 Από τον ξένο θα παίρνεις τόκο, αλλά από τον ομοεθνή σου δεν θα πάρεις, για να σε ευλογεί ο Κύριος, ο Θεός σου, σε ο,τιδήποτε επιχειρείς, στη χώρα που πηγαίνετε για να την πάρετε για ιδιοκτησία σας.

22 Αν κάνεις ένα τάμα στον Κύριο, το Θεό σου, μην αργήσεις να το εκπληρώσεις, γιατί αυτός θα σου το ζητήσει και θα σου καταλογιστεί ως αμαρτία. 23 Όταν όμως αποφεύγεις να τάξεις δεν έχεις αμαρτία. 24 Τον λόγο σου να τον τηρείς και να εκπληρώνεις ό,τι έταξες στον Κύριο τον Θεό σου, όπως ακριβώς και τις προαιρετικές προσφορές σου.

25 Αν μπεις στο αμπέλι του γείτονά σου, μπορείς να φας όσα σταφύλια θέλεις, ώσπου να χορτάσεις, αλλά δεν έχεις το δικαίωμα να πάρεις και μαζί σου. 26 Αν μπεις στα σπαρτά του γείτονά σου μπορείς να κόψεις στάχυα με το χέρι σου, αλλά δρεπάνι δε θα βάλεις στα σπαρτά του.*Για την αρίθμηση των στ. του παρόντος κεφ. βλ. υποσ. εις στ. 1.

10 If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp: 11 But it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again.*23.11 cometh…: Heb. turneth toward

19 Thou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of any thing that is lent upon usury: 20 Unto a stranger thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

21 When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee. 22 But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee. 23 That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

24 When thou comest into thy neighbour’s vineyard, then thou mayest eat grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not put any in thy vessel. 25 When thou comest into the standing corn of thy neighbour, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand; but thou shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbour’s standing corn.
