A Psalm of David.] Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy majesty above the heavens.2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established praise because of thine adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger.3 When I see thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and stars, which thou hast established;4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?5 Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and splendour.6 Thou hast made him to rule over the works of thy hands; thou hast put everything under his feet:7 Sheep and oxen, all of them, and also the beasts of the field;8 The fowl of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, {whatever} passeth through the paths of the seas.9 Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Ein Psalm Davids.2 Jahwe, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde,der du deine Pracht auf den Himmel gelegt hast.3 Durch den Mund von Kindern und Säuglingen hast du ein Bollwerk gegründet um deiner Widersacher willen,damit du Feinde und Rachgierige zum Schweigen bringest.4 Wenn ich deinen Himmel anschaue, das Werk deiner Finger, den Mond und die Sterne, die du bereitet hast, -5 was ist der Mensch, daß du seiner gedenkst, und das Menschenkind, daß du nach ihm schaust?6 Denn du ließest ihn nur wenig hinter Gott zurückstehn und mit Ehre und Hoheit umgabst du ihn.7 Du machtest in zum Herrn über die Werke deiner Hände; alles hast du unter seine Füße gelegt:8 Schafe und Rinder insgesamt, dazu auch die Tiere des Feldes,9 die Vögel unter dem Himmel und die Fische im Meere - was irgend die Meerespfade durchzieht.10 Jahwe, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde!
