1 Then came there unto me men, of the elders of Israel,and sat before me2 And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:3 Son of man These men have brought up their manufactured gods upon their hear, And their stumbling-block of iniquity, have they set straight before their face, Shall I be at all enquired of by them?4 Therefore speak unto them and say unto them, Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, Any man whatsoever of the house of Israel Who shall bring up his manufactured gods upon his heart, And set his stumbling, block of iniquity, straight before his face, And then some in unto the prophet. Yahweh, have myself answered him thereby. By the multitude of his manufactured gods:5 To the end the house of Israel may be taken by their own hearts,in that they have estranged themselves from me, through their manufactured godsall of them!6 Therefore say thou unto the house of Israel Thus saith My Lord. Yahweh, Turn yeand make good your returnfrom your manufactured gods; And from all your abominations:, make good the turning away of your faces.7 For what man soever of the house of Israel Or of the sojourners who sojourn in Israel, Who shall estrange himself from following me And who shall bring up his manufactured gods, on his heart, And whose stumbling-block of iniquity, he shall set straight before his face, And then come in unto the prophet, to enquire by him of me. Yahweh will myself answer him on my own account;8 And will set my face against that man And will make of him a sign and a proverb, And will cut him off out of the midst of my people: So shall ye know that, I, am Yahweh.9 Yea the prophet himself when he suffereth himself to be deceived, and speaketh a word, Yahweh have suffered that prophet to be deceived, Then will I stretch forth my hand against him, and destroy him out of the midst of my people. Israel:10 So shall they bear their punishment, As the punishment of him that enquireth, So shall the punishment of the prophet be:11 That the house of Israel may no more go astray from following me, And no more defile themselves by any of their transgressions, But may become my people, and I, may become their God, Declareth My Lord Yahweh.12 And the word of Yahweh came unto me saying:13 Son of man, When a land, shall sin against me by committing treachery, and I shall stretch out my hand against it, And break for it the staff of bread, And send thereon famine, And cut off therefrom man and beast,14 Then should these three men be in the midst thereof, Noah, Daniel, and Job, they by their righteousness should deliver their own lives Declareth My Lord, Yahweh.15 If a mischievous wild beast, I suffer to pass through the land, and that beast bereave it, so that it become too desolate for any man to pass through, by reason of the wild beast,16 these three men in the midst thereof, As I live, Declareth My Lord Yahweh, Surely neither sons nor daughters, should they deliver, They alone should be delivered, But the land, should become a desolation.17 Or, a sword, I should bring upon that land, and should say. O sword! thou shalt go through the land, and so I should cut off therefrom, man and beast,18 Were these three men in the midst thereof, As I live! Saith My Lord Yahweh, They should deliver neither sons nor daughters, For they alone, should be delivered.19 Or pestilence, I, should send into that land,and should pour out mine indignation thereon in blood, to cut off therefrom man and beast20 Were Noah, Daniel and Job n the midst thereof, As I live, Declareth My Lord Yahweh, Surely neither son nor daughter, should they deliver, They, by their righteousness should deliver only their own lives.21 For thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, How much less when my four calamitous judgments, sword and famine and mischievous wild beast and pestilence I have sent against Jerusalem,to cut off therefrom man and beast?22 Yet lo! there hath been left therein remnant of fugitives to be brought forth sons and daughtersThere they are! coming forth unto you, And so ye shall see their way, and their doings, and be consoled over the calamity which I have brought in upon Jerusalem even all that I have brought in upon her.23 Yea they shall console you, when ye see their way and their doings, So shall ye know that not without cause, have I done, anything that I have done with her, Declareth My Lord Yahweh.

1 E vieram a mim alguns homens dos anciãos de Israel e se assentaram diante de mim. 2 Então, veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo: 3 Filho do homem, estes homens levantaram os seus ídolos no seu coração e o tropeço da sua maldade puseram diante da sua face; devo eu de alguma maneira ser interrogado por eles? 4 Portanto, fala com eles e dize-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Qualquer homem da casa de Israel que levantar os seus ídolos no seu coração, e puser o tropeço da sua maldade diante da sua face, e vier ao profeta, eu, o Senhor, vindo ele, lhe responderei conforme a multidão dos seus ídolos; 5 para que possa apanhar a casa de Israel no seu coração, porquanto todos se apartaram de mim para seguirem os seus ídolos.

6 Portanto, dize à casa de Israel: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Convertei-vos, e deixai os vossos ídolos, e desviai o vosso rosto de todas as vossas abominações. 7 Porque qualquer homem da casa de Israel, ou dos estrangeiros que peregrinam em Israel que se alienar de mim, e levantar os seus ídolos no seu coração, e puser o tropeço da sua maldade diante do seu rosto, e vier ao profeta, para me consultar por meio dele, a esse, eu, o Senhor, responderei por mim mesmo. 8 E porei o rosto contra o tal homem, e o farei um espanto, um sinal, e um provérbio, e arrancá-lo-ei do meio do meu povo; e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor. 9 E, se o profeta for enganado e falar alguma coisa, eu, o Senhor, persuadi esse profeta; e estenderei a mão contra ele e destruí-lo-ei do meio do meu povo de Israel. 10 E levarão a sua maldade; como a maldade do que pergunta será a maldade do profeta; 11 para que a casa de Israel não se desvie mais de mim, nem se contamine mais com todas as suas transgressões; então, eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus, diz o Senhor Jeová.

12 Veio ainda a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo: 13 Filho do homem, quando uma terra pecar contra mim, gravemente se rebelando, então, estenderei a mão contra ela, e tornarei instável o sustento do pão, e enviarei contra ela fome, e arrancarei dela homens e animais; 14 ainda que estivessem no meio dela estes três homens, Noé, Daniel e Jó, eles, pela sua justiça, livrariam apenas a sua alma, diz o Senhor Jeová. 15 Se eu fizer passar pela terra nocivas alimárias, e elas a assolarem, que fique assolada, e ninguém possa passar por ela por causa das feras; 16 ainda que esses três homens estivessem no meio dela, vivo eu, diz o Senhor Jeová, que nem a filhos nem a filhas livrariam; só eles ficariam livres, e a terra seria assolada. 17 Ou, se eu trouxer a espada sobre a tal terra, e disser: Espada, passa pela terra: e eu arrancar dela homens e animais; 18 ainda que aqueles três homens estivessem nela, vivo eu, diz o Senhor Jeová, que nem filhos nem filhas livrariam, mas eles só ficariam livres. 19 Ou se eu enviar a peste sobre a tal terra e derramar o meu furor sobre ela com sangue, para arrancar dela homens e animais; 20 ainda que Noé, Daniel e Jó estivessem no meio dela, vivo eu, diz o Senhor Jeová, que nem filho nem filha eles livrariam, mas só livrariam a sua própria alma pela sua justiça. 21 Porque assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Quanto mais, se eu enviar os meus quatro maus juízos, a espada, e a fome, e as nocivas alimárias, e a peste, contra Jerusalém para arrancar dela homens e animais? 22 Mas eis que alguns restarão nela, que serão levados para fora, assim filhos como filhas; eis que eles virão a vós, e vereis o seu caminho e os seus feitos; e ficareis consolados do mal que eu trouxe sobre Jerusalém e de tudo o que trouxe sobre ela. 23 E sereis consolados, quando virdes o seu caminho e os seus feitos; e sabereis que não fiz sem razão tudo quanto tenho feito nela, diz o Senhor Jeová.
