1 And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:2 Thou, therefore, son of man, Take up over Tyre a dirge;3 And thou shalt say unto Tyre, O thou that dwellest by the entrances of the sea, Thou merchant of the peoples unto many shores, Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, O Tyre, Thou saidst, I, am the perfection of beauty!4 In the heart of the seas, were thy bounds, Thy builders perfected thy beauty:5 With fir-trees from Senir, but they for thee all the two-decked vessels, Cedar from Lebanon, fetched they, to make masts for thee:6 With oaks from Bashan, made they thine oars, Thy benches, made they of ivory, inlaid with boxwood, From the shores of the West:7 Of fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt, was thy sail, To serve thee for ensign, Blue and purple from the shores of Aeolis became thine awning:8 the inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad, Became rowers for thee, Thine own skilled men O Tyre, were within thee, They were thy sailors:9 the elders of Byblus and the skilled men thereof, were within thee, Thy calkers, All the ships of the sea and their mariners, were within thee, To carry on thy traffic,10 They of Persia and Lud and Phut were in thine army, Thy men of war, Shield and helmet, hung they up within thee, They set forth thy splendour:11 The sons of Arvad, :with thine army, were upon thy walls round about, And valorous in thy towers, Their shields, hung they up on thy walls round about, They perfected thy beauty:12 Tarshish was a trader of thine. For the abundance of all wealth, With silver iron. tin and lead, Took they part in thy traffic:13 Javan. Tubal and Meshech, They were merchants of thine, With the persons of men and vessels of bronze, Shared they in thy barter:14 Some of the house of Togarmah, with horses and horsemen and mules, Took part in thy traffic:15 the sons of Dedan were merchants of thine, Many, isles, took the merchandise of thy hand, Horns of ivory and ebony, gave they back to thee in exchange:16 Syria, was a trader of thine For the abundance of thy manufactures,- With carbuncle and purple and em- broidery and fine linen and coral and rubies, Took they part in thy traffic:17 Judah and the land of Israel, They, were merchants of thine, With the wheat of Minnith and the sweets of pannag and honey and oil and balsam, Shared they in thy barter:18 Damascus was a trader of thine For the multitude of thy manufactures For the multitude of all wealth,- With the wine of Helbon and white wool:19 Wedan and Javan, from Uzal, Brought into thy traffic, Steel, cassia and calamus, Were, in thy merchandise:20 Dedan was a merchant of thine,- With spreading wraps for riding:21 Arabia and all the princes of Kedar, They, were traders at thy service, With lambs and rams and he-goats, With these, were they traders of thine:22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, They were merchants of thine, With the chief of all spices and with every kind of precious stone and gold, Took they part in thy traffic:23 Haran and Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba,Asshur. Chilmad, Were merchants of thine:24 Those were thy merchants for gorgeous garments, for wrappings of blue and embroidery, and for treasure-chests of variegated cloth,for cords, twisted and strong, in thy market:25 the ships of Tarshish, were thy masts Carrying on thy barter, So wast thou fled and becamest very glorious In the heart of the seas.26 Into mighty waters, have they brought thee, the rowerseven thee, the east wind, hath broken thee In the heart of the seas:27 Thy wealth and thy wares, thy merchandise thy mariners, and thy sailors,-thy calkers and the barterers of thy merchandise and all thy men of war who are in thee and in all thy gathered host which is in thy midst Shall fall into the heart of the seas, In the day of thy fall.28 At the sound of the outcry of thy pots, the coasts shall quake:29 Then shall come down from their ships all that handle the oar, mariners, all the sailors of the sea Upon the land, shall they take up their station;30 And make loud over thee, with their voice, And make biter outcry,- And shall lift up dust on their heads, In ashes, shall roll themselves;31 And shall make bald for thee a baldness And gird them with sackcloth, And shall weep for time in bitterness of soul. A biter lamentation;32 And shall take up for thee in their Wailing: a dirge, And shall chant over thee,- Who is like Tyre? Like the Sent One in the midst of the sea?33 By the going forth of thy commodities out of the seas, Thou didst satisfy many peoples, By the multitude of thy wares and of thy merchandise, Thou didst enrich the kings of the earth.34 Now, thou art wrecked out of the seas In the depths of waters, Thy merchandise and all thy gathered host In thy midst, have fallen.35 All the dwellers in the coastlands, Are astounded over thee,- And their king have been made to shudder a shuddering, To be troubled in countenance.36 the traders among the peoples, have hissed over thee: A terror, hast thou become, And I art not k Unto times age-abiding.

1 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo: 2 Tu, pois, ó filho do homem, levanta uma lamentação sobre Tiro. 3 E dize a Tiro, que habita nas estradas do mar e negocia com os povos em muitas ilhas: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Ó Tiro, tu dizes: Eu sou perfeita em formosura. 4 No coração dos mares estão os teus termos; os que te edificaram aperfeiçoaram a tua formosura. 5 Fabricaram todos os teus conveses de faias de Senir; trouxeram cedros do Líbano para fazerem mastros para ti. 6 Fizeram os teus remos de carvalhos de Basã; a companhia dos assírios fez os teus bancos de marfim das ilhas dos quiteus. 7 Linho fino bordado do Egito era a tua cortina, para te servir de vela; azul e púrpura das ilhas de Elisá eram a tua cobertura. 8 Os moradores de Sidom e de Arvade foram os teus remeiros; os teus sábios, ó Tiro, que se achavam em ti, esses foram os teus pilotos. 9 Os anciãos de Gebal e seus sábios foram em ti os que consertavam as tuas fendas; todos os navios do mar e os marinheiros se acharam em ti, para tratarem dos teus negócios.

10 Os persas, e os lídios, e os de Pute eram, no teu exército, os teus soldados; escudos e capacetes penduraram em ti; eles fizeram a tua beleza. 11 Os filhos de Arvade e o teu exército estavam sobre os teus muros em redor, e os gamaditas, sobre as tuas torres; penduravam os seus escudos nos teus muros em redor; eles aperfeiçoavam a tua formosura.

12 Társis negociava contigo, por causa da abundância de toda casta de fazenda; com prata, ferro, estanho e chumbo negociavam em tuas feiras. 13 Javã, Tubal e Meseque eram teus mercadores; com escravos e objetos de bronze fizeram negócios contigo. 14 Das casas de Togarma traziam às tuas feiras cavalos, e cavaleiros, e machos. 15 Os filhos de Dedã eram os teus mercadores; muitas ilhas eram o mercado da tua mão; dentes de marfim e madeira preta tornavam a dar-te em presente. 16 A Síria negociava contigo por causa da multidão das tuas obras; esmeralda, e púrpura, e obra bordada, e seda, e corais, e cristais traziam às tuas feiras. 17 Judá e a terra de Israel eram os teus mercadores; com o trigo de Minite, e confeitos, e mel, e azeite, e bálsamo fizeram negócios contigo. 18 Damasco negociava contigo, por causa da multidão das tuas obras, por causa da multidão de toda sorte de fazenda, com vinho de Helbom e lã branca. 19 Também Dã e Javã, o caminhante, traficavam nas tuas feiras; ferro polido, casca e cana aromática entravam no teu negócio. 20 Dedã negociava contigo com panos preciosos para carros. 21 Arábia e todos os príncipes de Quedar, eram eles os mercadores de tua mão, com cordeiros, e carneiros, e bodes; nessas coisas negociavam contigo. 22 Os mercadores de Sabá e Raamá, eram eles os teus mercadores; em todos os mais refinados aromas, e em toda pedra preciosa, e em ouro negociavam nas tuas feiras. 23 Harã, e Cane, e Éden, os mercadores de Sabá, Assur e Quilmade negociavam contigo. 24 Estes eram teus mercadores em toda sorte de mercadorias, em fardos de jacinto e de bordados, e em cofres de roupas preciosas, amarrados com cordas e feitos de cedro. 25 Os navios de Társis eram as tuas caravanas, por causa do teu negócio; e te encheste e te glorificaste muito no meio dos mares. 26 Os teus remeiros te conduziram sobre grandes águas; o vento oriental te quebrantou no meio dos mares. 27 As tuas fazendas, as tuas feiras, o teu negócio, os teus marinheiros, os teus pilotos, os que consertavam as tuas fendas, os que faziam os teus negócios e todos os teus soldados, que estão em ti, juntamente com toda a tua congregação, que está no meio de ti, cairão no meio dos mares no dia da tua queda. 28 Ao estrondo da gritaria dos teus pilotos tremerão os arrabaldes. 29 E todos os que pegam no remo, os marinheiros, e todos os pilotos do mar descerão de seus navios e na terra pararão. 30 E farão ouvir a sua voz sobre ti, e gritarão amargamente, e lançarão pó sobre a cabeça, e na cinza se revolverão. 31 E se farão inteiramente calvos por tua causa, e se cingirão de panos de saco, e chorarão sobre ti com amargura de alma, com amarga lamentação. 32 E levantarão uma lamentação sobre ti no seu pranto e lamentarão sobre ti, dizendo: Quem foi como Tiro, como a que está reduzida ao silêncio no meio do mar? 33 Quando as tuas mercadorias eram exportadas pelos mares, fartaste a muitos povos; com a multidão da tua fazenda e do teu negócio, enriqueceste os reis da terra. 34 No tempo em que foste quebrantada nos mares, nas profundezas das águas, caíram os teus negócios e toda a tua congregação no meio de ti. 35 Todos os moradores das ilhas foram cheios de espanto por tua causa; e os seus reis tremeram em grande maneira e foram perturbados no seu rosto. 36 Os mercadores dentre os povos assobiaram sobre ti; tu te tornaste em grande espanto, e nunca mais serás para sempre.
