1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth of the month, came the word of Yahweh unto me, saying:2 Son of man, Set thy face against Pharaoh, king of Egypt, And prophesy against him, and against Egypt all of it:3 Speak, and thou shalt say Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh Behold me! against thee O Pharaoh king of Egypt, The great Crocodile that lieth along in the midst of his rivers: Who saith My river is, mine own, Since I myself made it me!4 Therefore will I put hooks in thy jaws, And cause the fish of thy rivers to stick fast in thy scales,- And will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, And lull the fish of thy rivers Ito thy scales1 shall stick fast;5 And I will stretch thee out towards the desert thee and all the fish of thy rivers, Off the face of the field, shalt thou lie Thou shalt not be carried away. nor shalt thou be gathered, To the wild beast of the earth and to the bird of the heavens, have I given thee for food.6 So shall all the inhabitants of Egypt know that I, am Yahweh, Because they were a staff of reed to the house of Israel:7 Whensoever they took held of thee by the hand, thou didst run through, and tear open for them every hand, And whensoever they leaned upon thee, thou didst break, and caused all their loins to halt.8 Therefore, Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, Behold me! bringing upon thee a sword,- And I will cut off out of thee, man and beast;9 And the land of Egypt shall become an astonishment and desolation, go shall they know that, I, am Yahweh,Because he said The river is mine own, Since, I, myself made it!10 Therefore, behold me! against thee and against thy rivers,- And I will make the land of Egypt to be most desolate an astounding desolation, from Migdol to Syene even up to the boundary of Ethiopia:11 The foot of man shall not pass through it, Nor shall the foot of beast, pass through it, Neither shall it be inhabited forty years:12 So will I make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of lands made desolate And her citiesin the midst of cities that have been laid waste, shall become a desolation forty years,- And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations, And scatter them throughout the lands.13 For thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, At the end of forty years, will I gather the Egyptians from among the peoples whither I had dispersed them;14 And I will turn the captivity of the Egyptians, And will cause them to return To the land of Pathros Upon the land of their nativity,- And they shall become, there a kingdom abased:15 More than the kingdoms, shall she be abased, And shall lift herself up no more over the nations, Yea I will make them too small to rule over the nations.16 So shall it become no more unto the house of Israel a security. Calling to mind iniquity, by their turning to follow them,- And they shall know that, I, am The Lord Yahweh.17 And it came to pass in the twenty-seventh year in the first month on the first of the month, that the word of Yahweh came unto me saying:18 Son of man Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, hath made his army undergo a long service against Tyre, Every head, hath been made bald, and Every shoulder worn beret But pay, hath he had none nor hath his army, out of Tyre, for the service wherewith he hath served against it.19 Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, Behold me! giving to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, the land of Egypt, And he shall carry off her multitude And capture her spoil And seize her prey, So shall she become pay for his army.20 As a reward for his labour wherewith he hath served, have I given to him the land of Egypt,in that they wrought for me, Declareth My Lord, Yahweh.21 In that day, will I cause to bud a horn for the house of Israel, And to thee, will I give an opening of mouth in their midst, So shall they know that, I, am Yahweh.

1 No décimo ano, no décimo mês, no dia doze do mês, veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo: 2 Filho do homem, dirige o rosto contra Faraó, rei do Egito, e profetiza contra ele e contra todo o Egito. 3 Fala e dize: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Eis-me contra ti, ó Faraó, rei do Egito, grande dragão, que pousas no meio dos teus rios e que dizes: O meu rio é meu, e eu o fiz para mim. 4 Mas eu porei anzóis em teus queixos e prenderei o peixe dos teus rios às tuas escamas; e todo peixe dos teus rios se pegará às tuas escamas. 5 E te deixarei no deserto, a ti e a todo peixe dos teus rios; sobre a face do campo cairás, não serás recolhido nem ajuntado; aos animais da terra e às aves do céu te dei por mantimento. 6 E saberão todos os moradores do Egito que eu sou o Senhor, porque se tornaram um bordão de cana para a casa de Israel. 7 Tomando-te eles pela mão, te quebraste e lhes rasgaste todo o ombro; e, encostando-se eles a ti, te quebraste, tornando imóveis todos os seus lombos. 8 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Eis que eu trarei sobre ti a espada e separarei de ti homem e animal.

9 E a terra do Egito se tornará em assolação e deserto; e saberão que eu sou o Senhor. Porque disseste: O rio é meu, e eu o fiz, 10 portanto, eis que eu estou contra ti e contra os teus rios; e tornarei a terra do Egito em desertas e assoladas solidões, desde Migdol até Sevene, até aos confins da Etiópia. 11 Não passará por ela pé de homem, nem pé de animal passará por ela, nem será habitada quarenta anos. 12 Porquanto tornarei a terra do Egito em assolação no meio das terras assoladas; e as suas cidades no meio das cidades desertas se tornarão em assolação por quarenta anos; e espalharei os egípcios entre as nações e os derramarei pelas terras.

13 Mas assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Ao cabo de quarenta anos, ajuntarei os egípcios dentre os povos entre os quais foram espalhados. 14 E removerei o cativeiro dos egípcios e os farei voltar à terra de Patros, à terra de sua origem; e serão ali um reino baixo. 15 Mais baixo se fará do que os outros reinos e nunca mais se exalçará sobre as nações; porque os diminuirei, para que não dominem sobre as nações. 16 E não terá mais da casa de Israel a confiança para lhes trazer à lembrança a sua iniquidade, quando olharem para trás deles; antes, saberão que eu sou o Senhor Jeová.

17 E sucedeu que, no ano vinte e sete, no mês primeiro, no primeiro dia do mês, veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo: 18 Filho do homem, Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, fez com que o seu exército prestasse um grande serviço contra Tiro; toda cabeça se tornou calva, e todo ombro se pelou, e não houve paga de Tiro para ele, nem para o seu exército, pelo serviço que prestou contra ela. 19 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Eis que eu darei a Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, a terra do Egito; e levará a sua multidão, e tomará o seu despojo, e roubará a sua presa, e isso será a paga para o seu exército. 20 Por paga do seu trabalho, com que serviu contra ela, lhe dei a terra do Egito, visto que trabalharam por mim, diz o Senhor Jeová. 21 Naquele dia, farei brotar o poder na casa de Israel e te darei abrimento da boca no meio deles; e saberão que eu sou o Senhor.
