1 Then said Yahweh unto me, Though Moses and Samuel should stand before me, My soul could not be toward this people,Send them away from before me And let them go forth.2 And it shall come to pass when they say unto thee Whither shall we go? Then shalt, thou say unto them, Thus saith YahwehSuch as are for death, to death, and Such as are for t he sword, to the sword, and Such as are for famine, to the famine, and Such as are for captivity, to captivity.3 And I will set in charge over themfour species Declareth Yahweh, The sword to slay, and The dogs to trail along,and The bird of the heavens and The beast of the earth to devour and to destroy.4 And I will make them a terror, to all the kingdoms of the earth,On account of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For what he did in Jerusalem.5 For who shall have pity upon thee O Jerusalem? And who shall lament for thee? And who shall turn aside, to ask for thy welfare?6 Thou, hast abandoned, me, Declareth Yahweh, Backward, thou wilt go, Therefore have I stretched forth my hand against thee and laid thee waste,I am weary of having compassion.7 Therefore have I winnowed them with a winnowing shovel in the gates of the land,I have bereavedI have destroyed my people, From their own ways, have they not returned.8 Their widows have become multiplied to me, beyond the sand of the seas, I have brought against themupon the mother of young menthe spoiler in the broad noon,I have let fall upon her suddenly, excitement and terrors.9 Languisheth! she who had given birth to seven, She hath breathed out her life Her sun hath gone in, while yet it was day, She hath turned pale and hath turned red,And the remnant of them, to the sword, will I deliver before their enemies, Declareth Yahweh.10 Woe to me! my mother, That thou didst bear me, A man of litigation and a man of contention to all the land,I have not lent on interest Nor have they lent on interest to me, Every one, hath treated me with contempt.11 Said Yahweh,Verily, I will loose thee, for good! Verily, I will intercede for thee In the time of calamity, and In the time of distress with the enemy!12 Shall iron crush the iron from the North and the bronze?13 Thy substance and thy treasuresfor a prey, will I give, without price,Even for all thy sins and in all thy bounds:14 Therefore will I make thee pass, with thine enemies into a land thou knowest not,For, a fire, hath been kindled in mine anger Upon you, shall it burn.15 Thou knowestO Yahweh Remember me and visit me and avenge me upon my persecutors, Do not of thy longsuffering, take me away,KnowI have borne for thy sake, reproach.16 Thy words, were found, and I did eat them, Then became thy words unto me the joy and gladness of my heart,For thy Name hath been called upon me, O Yahweh God of hosts!17 I sat not in the circle of mockers, Nor became I uproarious,Because of thy hand, by myself did I sit, For with indignation, hadst thou filled me.18 Wherefore hath my pain become perpetual? And my wound, incurable? Refuseth to be healed? Wilt thou, indeed be, to me that disappointeth, Waters that cannot be trusted?19 Wherefore Thus, saith YahwehIf thou wouldst return, I will cause thee to return Before me, shalt thou stand, Yea if thou wilt bring out the precious from among the vile, As mine own mouth shalt thou be,Let them return unto thee, But thou, shalt not return unto them;20 So will I make thee to this people a wall of bronze, fortified, When they fight against thee, they shall not prevail against thee,For with thee, am, I, to save thee and to deliver thee, Declareth Yahweh;21 Thus will I deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked,And redeem thee out of the grasp of the tyrants.

1 Disse-me, porém, o Senhor: Ainda que Moisés e Samuel se pusessem diante de mim, não seria a minha alma com este povo; lança-os de diante da minha face, e saiam. 2 E será que, quando te disserem: Para onde iremos? Dir-lhes-ás: Assim diz o Senhor: Os que são para a morte, para a morte; e os que são para a espada, para a espada; e os que são para a fome, para a fome; e os que são para o cativeiro, para o cativeiro. 3 Porque os visitarei com quatro gêneros de males, diz o Senhor: com espada para matar, e com cães, para os arrastarem, e com as aves dos céus e os animais da terra, para os devorarem e destruírem. 4 Entregá-los-ei ao desterro em todos os reinos da terra; por causa de Manassés, filho de Ezequias, rei de Judá, por tudo quanto fez em Jerusalém.

5 Por que quem se compadeceria de ti, ó Jerusalém? Ou quem se entristeceria por ti? Ou quem se desviaria a perguntar pela tua paz? 6 Tu me deixaste, diz o Senhor, voltaste para trás; por isso, estenderei a mão contra ti e te destruirei; estou cansado de me arrepender. 7 E padejá-los-ei com a pá nas portas da terra; desfilhei, destruí o meu povo; não voltaram dos seus caminhos. 8 As suas viúvas mais se multiplicaram do que as areias dos mares; trouxe ao meio-dia um destruidor sobre a mãe dos jovens; fiz que caísse de repente sobre ela e enchesse a cidade de terrores. 9 A que dava à luz sete se enfraqueceu; expirou a sua alma; pôs-se o seu sol sendo ainda de dia; ela confundiu-se e envergonhou-se; e os que ficarem dela eu os entregarei à espada, diante dos seus inimigos, diz o Senhor.

10 Ai de mim, minha mãe! Por que me deste à luz homem de rixa e homem de contenda para toda a terra? Nunca lhes emprestei com usura, nem eles me emprestaram a mim com usura, e, todavia, cada um deles me amaldiçoa.

11 Disse o Senhor: Decerto que te fortalecerei para bem e, no tempo da calamidade e no tempo da angústia, farei que o inimigo te dirija súplicas. 12 Pode alguém quebrar o ferro, o ferro do Norte, ou o aço? 13 A tua fazenda e os teus tesouros entregarei sem preço ao saque; e isso por todos os teus pecados, mesmo em todos os teus limites. 14 E levarei a ti com os teus inimigos para a terra que não conheces; porque o fogo se acendeu em minha ira e sobre vós arderá.

15 Tu, ó Senhor, o sabes; lembra-te de mim, e visita-me, e vinga-me dos meus perseguidores; não me arrebates, por tua longanimidade; sabe que, por amor de ti, tenho sofrido afronta. 16 Achando-se as tuas palavras, logo as comi, e a tua palavra foi para mim o gozo e alegria do meu coração; porque pelo teu nome me chamo, ó Senhor, Deus dos Exércitos. 17 Nunca me assentei no congresso dos zombadores, nem me regozijei; por causa da tua mão, me assentei solitário, pois me encheste de indignação. 18 Por que dura a minha dor continuamente, e a minha ferida me dói, não admite cura? Serias tu para mim como ilusório ribeiro e como águas inconstantes?

19 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor: Se tu voltares, então, te trarei, e estarás diante da minha face; e, se apartares o precioso do vil, serás como a minha boca; tornem-se eles para ti, mas não voltes tu para eles. 20 E eu te porei contra este povo como forte muro de bronze; e pelejarão contra ti, mas não prevalecerão contra ti; porque eu sou contigo para te guardar, para te livrar deles, diz o Senhor. 21 E arrebatar-te-ei da mão dos malignos e livrar-te-ei das mãos dos fortes.
