1 And the word of Yahweh came unto Jeremiah, the second time, when he was yet imprisoned in the guard-court, saying:2 Thus, saith Yahweh, who doeth it,Yahweh, who fashioneth it to establish it, Yahweh, is his name:3 Call unto me that I may answer thee,and tell thee things great and inaccessible, which thou hast not known.4 For, Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah,which are thrown down against the earthworks and against the sword:5 In entering to fight with the Chaldeans, it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have smitten in mine anger and in mine indignation,and because of whom I have hidden my face from this city,by reason of all their wickedness.6 Behold me! laying upon her a bandage of healing, so will I heal them,And will reveal to them abundance of prosperity and truth;7 And I will bring back Them of the captivity of Judah, and Them of the captivity of Israel,And I will build them, as at the first;8 And I will purify them, from all their iniquity wherewith they have sinned against me,And I will grant pardon for all their iniquities Wherewith they have sinned against me, and Wherewith they have transgressed against me;9 So shall she become to meA name of joy, A praise and An adorning, To all the nations of the earth,Who will hear all the good which I am doing them, And will dread and be deeply moved over all the good and over all the prosperity which I am causing her.10 Thus, saith YahwehAgain, shall be heard in this place, as to which ye are saying, Deserted, it is without man or beast, In the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, Which are desolate without man or inhabitant or beast11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness The voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, The voice of them who are saying, Praise ye Yahweh of hosts, For good is Yahweh For age-abiding is his lovingkindness, The voice of them who are bringing a thank-offering into the house of Yahweh,For I will bring back the captives of the land, as at the first, Saith Yahweh.12 Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, Again, shall there be in this placeWhich is deserted without man or even beastAnd all the cities thereof,The home of shepherds, causing flocks to lie down.13 In the cities of the hill country, In the cities of the lowland, and In the cities of the South, and In the land of Benjamin, and In the places round about Jerusalem, and In the cities of Judah, Again shall the flock pass over the hands of the numberer, Saith Yahweh.14 Lo! days are coming, Declareth Yahweh,when I will establish my good word, which I have spokenAs to the house of Israel And concerning the house of Judah:15 In those days and at that time, will I cause to bud unto David A Bud of righteousness,And he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land:16 In those days, Judah shall be Saved, and I Jerusalem abide, securely,And, this, is that which shall be proclaimed to herYahweh, our righteousness!17 For, Thus, saith Yahweh,There shall not be wanting to DavidA man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;18 Nor to the priests the Levites, shall there be wantingA man, before me, To offer an ascending-sacrifice, or To make a perfume with a gift, or To offer a offering, all the days!19 And the word of Yahweh came unto Jeremiah saying:20 Thus, saith Yahweh, If ye can break, My covenant of the day, and My covenant of the night, That there be not day and night in their season,21 My covenant also, may be broken With David my servant, that he shall not have a son, to reign upon his throne,And with the Levites the priests, mine attendants:22 As, the host of the heavens, cannot be recorded, Nor the sand of the sea, be measured, So, will I multiply, The seed of David my servant, And the Levites who attend upon me.23 And the word of Yahweh came unto Jeremiah, saying:24 Hast thou not observed what, this people, have spoken saying, The two families which Yahweh did choose, he hath even east them off? And so, my people, they despise, as though they could not again become a nation in their sight!25 Thus, saith Yahweh, If my covenant of day and night, the ordinances of the heavens and the earth, I did not appoint,26 The seed of Jacob also and of David my servant, might I east off so as not to take of his seed as rulers unto the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,For I will bring back them of their captivity, and will have compassion upon them.

1 E veio a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, segunda vez, estando ele ainda encerrado no pátio da guarda, dizendo: 2 Assim diz o Senhor que faz isto, o Senhor que forma isto, para o estabelecer ( o seu nome): é Senhor. 3 Clama a mim, e responder-te-ei e anunciar-te-ei coisas grandes e firmes, que não sabes. 4 Porque assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, sobre as casas desta cidade e sobre as casas dos reis de Judá, que foram derribadas com os trabucos e à espada. 5 Eles entraram a pelejar contra os caldeus, mas para que os encha de cadáveres de homens, que feri na minha ira e no meu furor, porquanto escondi o rosto desta cidade, por causa de toda a sua maldade. 6 Eis que eu farei vir sobre ela saúde e cura, e os sararei, e lhes manifestarei abundância de paz e de verdade. 7 E removerei o cativeiro de Judá e o cativeiro de Israel e os edificarei como no princípio; 8 e os purificarei de toda a sua maldade com que pecaram contra mim e perdoarei todas as suas iniquidades com que pecaram contra mim e com que transgrediram contra mim. 9 E esta cidade me servirá de nome de alegria, de louvor e de glória, entre todas as nações da terra que ouvirem todo o bem que eu lhe faço; e espantar-se-ão e perturbar-se-ão por causa de todo o bem e por causa de toda a paz que eu lhe dou.

10 Assim diz o Senhor: Neste lugar (de que vós dizeis que está deserto, sem homens nem animais), nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, que estão assoladas, sem homens, sem moradores e sem animais, ainda se ouvirá 11 a voz de gozo, e a voz de alegria, e a voz de noivo, e a voz de esposa, e a voz dos que dizem: Louvai ao Senhor dos Exércitos, porque bom é o Senhor, porque a sua benignidade é para sempre; e a voz dos que trazem louvor à Casa do Senhor; pois farei que torne o cativeiro da terra como no princípio, diz o Senhor. 12 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Ainda neste lugar que está deserto, sem homens e sem animais e em todas as suas cidades haverá uma morada de pastores que façam repousar o gado. 13 Nas cidades das montanhas, e nas cidades das planícies, e nas cidades do Sul, e na terra de Benjamim, e nos contornos de Jerusalém, e nas cidades de Judá, ainda passará o gado pelas mãos dos contadores, diz o Senhor.

14 Eis que vêm dias, diz o Senhor, em que cumprirei a palavra boa que falei à casa de Israel e à casa de Judá. 15 Naqueles dias e naquele tempo, farei que brote a Davi um Renovo de justiça, e ele fará juízo e justiça na terra. 16 Naqueles dias, Judá será salvo, e Jerusalém habitará seguramente; e este é o nome que lhe chamarão: O Senhor É Nossa Justiça.

17 Porque assim diz o Senhor: Nunca faltará a Davi varão que se assente sobre o trono da casa de Israel, 18 nem aos sacerdotes levíticos faltará varão diante de mim, para que ofereça holocausto, e queime oferta de manjares, e faça sacrifício todos os dias. 19 E veio a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, dizendo: 20 Assim diz o Senhor: Se puderdes invalidar o meu concerto do dia, e o meu concerto da noite, de tal modo que não haja dia e noite a seu tempo, 21 também se poderá invalidar o meu concerto com Davi, meu servo, para que não tenha filho que reine no seu trono, como também com os levitas sacerdotes, meus ministros. 22 Como não se pode contar o exército dos céus, nem medir-se a areia do mar, assim multiplicarei a descendência de Davi, meu servo, e os levitas que ministram diante de mim.

23 E veio ainda a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, dizendo: 24 Não tens visto o que este povo fala, dizendo: As duas gerações que o Senhor elegeu, agora as rejeitou? E desprezam o meu povo, como se não fora já um povo diante deles. 25 Assim diz o Senhor: Se o meu concerto do dia e da noite não permanecer, e eu não puser as ordenanças dos céus e da terra, 26 também rejeitarei a descendência de Jacó e de Davi, meu servo, de modo que não tome da sua semente quem domine sobre a semente de Abraão, Isaque e Jacó; porque removerei o seu cativeiro e apiedar-me-ei deles.
