1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word unto Jeremiah, from Yahweh, saying:2 Thus, said Yahweh unto me, Make thee, bonds and bars, and put them upon thine own neck.3 Then shalt thou send them unto the king of Edom and unto the king of Moab and unto the king of the sons of Ammon, and unto the king of Tyre and unto the king of Zidon,by the hand of messengers coming into Jerusalem, unto Zedekiah king of Judah.4 And thou shall give them charge unto their lords saying,Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts God of Israel, Thus shall ye say unto your lords:5 I, made The earthThe man and the beast that are on the face of the earthBy my great power, And by mine outstretched arm,And gave it to whomsoever was right in mine own eyes.6 Now, therefore, I, have given all these lands, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon my servant,Moreover also, the wild beast of the field, have I given him, to serve him.7 Therefore shall all the nations serve him, and his son, and his sons son,until the time even of his own land, itself arrive, when many nations and great kings, shall use him as a slave.8 And it shall come to pass that, the nation or kingdom which will not serve him, even Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon,with sword and with famine, and with pestilence, will I bring punishment upon that nation, Declareth Yahweh, until I have consumed them by his hand.9 Ye, therefore do not ye hearken unto your prophets, nor unto your diviners, nor unto your dreams, nor unto your users of hidden arts nor unto your mutterers of incantations,in that, they, are speaking unto you saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon;10 for falsehood, are they prophesying unto you, that ye may be far removed from off your own soil, and I drive you out, and ye be destroyed11 But the nation that shall bring its neck into the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let them remain in quietness upon their own soil, Declareth Yahweh, and they shall till it, and dwell therein.12 Also unto Zedekiah king of Judah, spake I, according to all these words saying,-Bring your necks into the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people and live!13 Wherefore, should ye die, thou, and thy people, by sword, by famine, and by pestilence,as Yahweh hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?14 Do not, then hearken unto the words of the prophets who are speaking unto you, sayingYe shall not serve the king of Babylon,for falsehood, are they prophesying unto you.15 For I have not sent them, Declareth Yahweh, but they are prophesying in my name, falsely,to the end I may drive yon out and ye be destroyed, ye and the prophets who are prophesying unto you.16 Also unto the priests, and unto all this people, spake I, saying, Thus! saith Yahweh, Do not hearken unto the words of your prophets, who are prophesying unto you saying, Lo! the vessels of the house of Yahweh, are to be brought back out of Babylon now, quickly; for falsehood, are they prophesying unto you.17 Do not hearken unto them, serve the king of Babylon land live! wherefore, should this city become a desolation?18 But, if prophets, they are, and if the word of Yahweh is with them, let them intercede, I pray you, with Yahweh of hosts, that the vessels which are left remaining in the house of Yahweh and the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem, come not into Babylon.19 For Thus, saith Yahweh of hostsConcerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the stands,and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city20 which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not when he carried away captive Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon,with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem,21 YeaThus, saith Yahweh of hosts God of Israel Concerning the vessels that are left in thee house of Yahweh and the house of the king of Judah, and Jerusalem,22 Into Babylon, shall they be taken And there, shall they remain, Until the day that I visit them, Declareth Yahweh, When I will bring them up, and restore them unto this place.

1 No princípio do reinado de Zedequias, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, veio, da parte do Senhor, esta palavra a Jeremias, dizendo: 2 Assim me disse o Senhor: Faze umas prisões e jugos e pô-los-ás sobre o teu pescoço. 3 E envia-os ao rei de Edom, e ao rei de Moabe, e ao rei dos filhos de Amom, e ao rei de Tiro, e ao rei de Sidom, pelas mãos dos mensageiros que vêm a Jerusalém ter com Zedequias, rei de Judá. 4 E lhes darás uma mensagem para seus senhores, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Assim direis a vossos senhores: 5 Eu fiz a terra, o homem e os animais que estão sobre a face da terra, pelo meu grande poder e com o meu braço estendido, e os dou a quem me agrada. 6 E, agora, eu entreguei todas estas terras nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, meu servo, e até os animais do campo lhe dei, para que o sirvam. 7 E todas as nações servirão a ele, e a seu filho, e ao filho de seu filho, até que também venha o tempo da sua própria terra, quando muitas nações e grandes reis se servirão dele.

8 E acontecerá que, se alguma nação e reino não servirem o mesmo Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e não puserem o pescoço debaixo do jugo do rei da Babilônia, visitarei com espada, e com fome, e com peste essa nação, diz o Senhor, até que a consuma pelas suas mãos. 9 E não deis ouvidos aos vossos profetas, e aos vossos adivinhos, e aos vossos sonhos, e aos vossos agoureiros, e aos vossos encantadores, que vos falam, dizendo: Não servireis ao rei da Babilônia. 10 Porque mentiras vos profetizam, para vos mandarem para longe da vossa terra, e para que eu vos lance dela, e vós pereçais. 11 Mas a nação que meter o pescoço sob o jugo do rei da Babilônia e o servir, eu a deixarei na sua terra, diz o Senhor, e lavrá-la-á e habitará nela.

12 E falei com Zedequias, rei de Judá, conforme todas estas palavras, dizendo: colocai o pescoço no jugo do rei da Babilônia, e servi-o, a ele e ao seu povo, e vivereis. 13 Por que morrerias tu e o teu povo à espada, e à fome, e de peste, como o Senhor disse da gente que não servir ao rei da Babilônia? 14 E não deis ouvidos às palavras dos profetas que vos falam, dizendo: Não servireis ao rei da Babilônia; pois vos profetizam mentiras. 15 Porque não os enviei, diz o Senhor, e profetizam falsamente em meu nome, para que eu vos lance fora, e pereçais vós e os profetas que vos profetizam.

16 Também falei aos sacerdotes e a todo este povo, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor: Não deis ouvidos às palavras dos vossos profetas que vos profetizam, dizendo: Eis que os utensílios da Casa do Senhor cedo voltarão da Babilônia; pois eles vos profetizam mentiras. 17 Não lhes deis ouvidos, servi ao rei da Babilônia e vivereis. Por que se tornaria esta cidade um deserto? 18 Porém, se são profetas, e se há palavras do Senhor com eles, orem, agora, ao Senhor dos Exércitos, para que os utensílios que ficaram na Casa do Senhor, e na casa do rei de Judá, e em Jerusalém não sejam levados para a Babilônia. 19 Porque assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos acerca das colunas, e do mar, e das bases, e dos restantes utensílios que ficaram na cidade, 20 os quais Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, não levou, quando transportou de Jerusalém para a Babilônia a Jeconias, filho de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, como também a todos os nobres de Jerusalém. 21 Assim, pois, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, acerca dos utensílios que ficaram na Casa do Senhor, e na casa do rei de Judá, e em Jerusalém: 22 À Babilônia serão levados e ali ficarão até ao dia em que os visitar, diz o Senhor. Então, os farei subir e os tornarei a trazer a este lugar.
