Exortações paternas a adquirir a Sabedoria e apartar-se do caminho dos ímpios

1 Ouvi, filhos, a *Pv 1.8instrução dum pai

e *Pv 1.2;2.2estai atentos para conhecerdes o entendimento;

2 porque vos dou boa *Dt 32.2;Jó 11.4doutrina;

*Pv 3.1;Sl 89.30;119.87não abandoneis o meu ensino.

3 Pois eu fui filho para meu pai,

*1Cr 22.5tenro e *Zc 12.10único diante de minha mãe.

4 Ele me ensinava e me dizia:

*Sl 119.168Retenha o teu coração as minhas palavras;

*Pv 7.2guarda os meus mandamentos e vive;

5 *Pv 4.7Adquire a sabedoria e *Pv 16.16adquire o entendimento;

não te esqueças, nem te desvies das palavras da minha boca;

6 não a abandones, e ela te preservará;

*2Ts 2.10ama-a, e ela te guardará.

7 *Pv 8.23A sabedoria é a coisa principal; portanto, *Pv 23.23adquire a sabedoria;

dá pela sabedoria tudo o que tens adquirido.

8 Estima-a, e ela te exaltará;

ela te honrará, se a abraçares.

9 Ela dará *Pv 1.9à tua cabeça uma grinalda de graça;

entregar-te-á uma coroa de glória.

10 Ouve, filho meu, *Pv 2.1e recebe as minhas palavras,

*Pv 3.2e os anos de tua vida se multiplicarão.

11 No caminho da sabedoria, *1Sm 12.23te hei instruído,

pelas veredas da retidão te hei guiado.

12 Quando andares, não se estreitarão os *Jó 18.7;Sl 18.36teus passos;

e, se correres, *Pv 3.23não tropeçarás.

13 *Pv 3.18Apega-te à instrução, não a largues;

guarda-a, porque ela é a *Pv 3.22;Jo 6.63tua vida.

14 *Pv 1.15;Sl 1.1Não entres na vereda dos perversos,

nem andes pelo caminho dos maus.

15 Evita-o e não passes por ele;

desvia-te dele e passa de largo.

16 Não dormem, *Sl 36.4;Mq 2.1se não tiverem feito o mal;

e foge deles o sono, se não fizerem tropeçar alguém.

17 *Pv 13.2Comem o pão da perversidade

e bebem o vinho da violência.

18 Mas a *Is 26.7vereda dos justos é como *2Sm 23.4uma luz resplandecente,

que *Dn 12.3aumenta de brilho mais e mais até o *Jó 11.17dia perfeito.

19 *Pv 2.13;Jó 18.5-6;Is 59.9-10;Jr 23.12;Jo 12.35O caminho dos perversos é como a escuridão.

Não sabem eles em que *Jo 11.10tropeçam.

20 Filho meu, *Pv 5.1atende às minhas palavras;

*Pv 2.2inclina os teus ouvidos às minhas instruções.

21 *Pv 3.21Não se apartem elas de diante dos teus olhos,

*Pv 7.1-2conserva-as no meio do teu coração,

22 pois são *Pv 3.22vida para os que as acham

e *Pv 3.8;12.18saúde, para todo o seu corpo.

23 Guarda, com toda a diligência, o teu coração,

pois *Mt 12.34;15.18-19;Mc 7.21;Lc 6.45dele procedem as fontes da vida.

24 Remove de ti a *Pv 6.12;10.32malignidade da boca

e afasta, para longe de ti, a *Pv 19.1perversidade dos lábios.

25 Dirijam-se os teus olhos para a frente,

e olhem as tuas pálpebras diretamente diante de ti.

26 *Pv 5.21;Hb 12.13Faze plana a vereda dos teus pés,

e sejam estabelecidos *Sl 119.5todos os teus caminhos.

27 *Dt 5.32;28.14Não declines nem para a direita nem para a esquerda;

*Pv 1.15retira do mal o teu pé.

1 Listen, sons, to a father’s instruction.

Pay attention and know understanding;

2 for I give you sound learning.

Don’t forsake my law.

3 For I was a son to my father,

tender and an only child in the sight of my mother.

4 He taught me, and said to me:

"Let your heart retain my words.

Keep my commandments, and live.

5 Get wisdom.

Get understanding.

Don’t forget, and don’t deviate from the words of my mouth.

6 Don’t forsake her, and she will preserve you.

Love her, and she will keep you.

7 Wisdom is supreme.

Get wisdom.

Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.

8 Esteem her, and she will exalt you.

She will bring you to honor when you embrace her.

9 She will give to your head a garland of grace.

She will deliver a crown of splendor to you."

10 Listen, my son, and receive my sayings.

The years of your life will be many.

11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom.

I have led you in straight paths.

12 When you go, your steps will not be hampered.

When you run, you will not stumble.

13 Take firm hold of instruction.

Don’t let her go.

Keep her, for she is your life.

14 Don’t enter into the path of the wicked.

Don’t walk in the way of evil men.

15 Avoid it, and don’t pass by it.

Turn from it, and pass on.

16 For they don’t sleep unless they do evil.

Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.

17 For they eat the bread of wickedness

and drink the wine of violence.

18 But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light

that shines more and more until the perfect day.

19 The way of the wicked is like darkness.

They don’t know what they stumble over.

20 My son, attend to my words.

Turn your ear to my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from your eyes.

Keep them in the center of your heart.

22 For they are life to those who find them,

and health to their whole body.

23 Keep your heart with all diligence,

for out of it is the wellspring of life.

24 Put away from yourself a perverse mouth.

Put corrupt lips far from you.

25 Let your eyes look straight ahead.

Fix your gaze directly before you.

26 Make the path of your feet level.

Let all of your ways be established.

27 Don’t turn to the right hand nor to the left.

Remove your foot from evil.
