Provérbios 9

O banquete da Sabedoria

1 A Sabedoria *1Co 3.9-10;Ef 2.20-22;1Pe 2.5edificou a sua casa,

cortou as suas sete colunas;

2 *Mt 22.4matou os seus animais cevados, *Ct 8.2misturou o seu vinho

e *Lc 14.16-17preparou a sua mesa.

3 *Sl 68.11;Mt 22.3Enviou as suas criadas a *Pv 8.1-2gritar

sobre as *Pv 9.14alturas da cidade:

4 *Pv 9.16;8.5Quem é estúpido, volte-se para cá;

aos que são *Pv 6.32faltos de entendimento, diz ela:

5 Vinde, *Ct 5.1;Is 55.1;Jo 6.27comei o meu pão

e bebei do vinho que misturei.

6 Deixai a estupidez e *Pv 9.11;8.35vivei;

*Ez 11.20;37.24e andai pelo caminho do entendimento.

7 Quem *Pv 23.9corrige ao escarnecedor traz sobre si afronta;

e quem repreende ao perverso a si mesmo se desonra.

8 *Pv 15.12;Mt 7.6Não repreendas ao escarnecedor, para que não te odeie;

*Pv 10.8;Sl 141.5repreende ao sábio, e ele te amará.

9 Instrui ao sábio, e ele se tornará mais sábio;

ensina ao justo, e *Pv 1.5ele crescerá na ciência.

10 *Pv 1.7O temor de Jeová é o princípio da sabedoria,

e o *Pv 30.3conhecimento do Santo é o entendimento.

11 Pois *Pv 3.16;10.27por mim se multiplicarão os teus dias,

e se te aumentarão os anos da tua vida.

12 Se és sábio, *Pv 14.14;Jó 22.2para ti mesmo o és;

e, se és *Pv 19.29escarnecedor, tu só o suportarás.

O convite da mulher louca

13 A loucura é mulher *Pv 7.11turbulenta;

é estúpida *Pv 5.6e não sabe coisa alguma.

14 Senta-se junto à porta da sua casa,

sobre uma cadeira *Pv 9.3nas alturas da cidade,

15 para chamar aos que passam pela estrada,

os quais vão seguindo o seu caminho:

16 *Pv 9.4Quem é estúpido volte-se para cá;

e, ao que é falto de entendimento, diz ela:

17 *Pv 5.15As águas furtadas são doces,

*Pv 20.17e o pão tomado às escondidas é agradável.

18 Mas ele não sabe que ali estão os mortos,

que os seus convidados estão *Pv 7.27nas profundezas do Sheol.

1 Wisdom has built her house.

She has carved out her seven pillars.

2 She has prepared her meat.

She has mixed her wine.

She has also set her table.

3 She has sent out her maidens.

She cries from the highest places of the city:

4 "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!"

As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

5 "Come, eat some of my bread,

Drink some of the wine which I have mixed!

6 Leave your simple ways, and live.

Walk in the way of understanding."

7 One who corrects a mocker invites insult.

One who reproves a wicked man invites abuse.

8 Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you.

Reprove a wise person, and he will love you.

9 Instruct a wise person, and he will be still wiser.

Teach a righteous person, and he will increase in learning.

10 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom.

The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

11 For by me your days will be multiplied.

The years of your life will be increased.

12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself.

If you mock, you alone will bear it.

13 The foolish woman is loud,

undisciplined, and knows nothing.

14 She sits at the door of her house,

on a seat in the high places of the city,

15 to call to those who pass by,

who go straight on their ways,

16 "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here."

As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

17 "Stolen water is sweet.

Food eaten in secret is pleasant."

18 But he doesn’t know that the departed spirits are there,

that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.*9:18 Sheol is the place of the dead.
