2 Crônicas 30

1 Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to Yahweh’s house at Jerusalem, to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel. 2 For the king had taken counsel with his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem to keep the Passover in the second month. 3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, and the people had not gathered themselves together to Jerusalem. 4 The thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly. 5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem, for they had not kept it in great numbers in the way it is written.

6 So the couriers went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, according to the commandment of the king, saying, "You children of Israel, turn again to Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may return to the remnant of you that have escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. 7 Don’t be like your fathers and like your brothers, who trespassed against Yahweh, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see. 8 Now don’t be stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to Yahweh, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve Yahweh your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you. 9 For if you turn again to Yahweh, your brothers and your children will find compassion with those who led them captive, and will come again into this land, because Yahweh your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you if you return to him."

10 So the couriers passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun, but people ridiculed them and mocked them. 11 Nevertheless some men of Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem. 12 Also the hand of God came on Judah to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by Yahweh’s word.

13 Many people assembled at Jerusalem to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great assembly. 14 They arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and they took away all the altars for incense and threw them into the brook Kidron. 15 Then they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the second month. The priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought burnt offerings into Yahweh’s house. 16 They stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moses the man of God. The priests sprinkled the blood which they received of the hand of the Levites. 17 For there were many in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves; therefore the Levites were in charge of killing the Passovers for everyone who was not clean, to sanctify them to Yahweh. 18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover other than the way it is written. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, "May the good Yahweh pardon everyone 19 who sets his heart to seek God, Yahweh, the God of his fathers, even if they aren’t clean according to the purification of the sanctuary."

20 Yahweh listened to Hezekiah, and healed the people. 21 The children of Israel who were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness. The Levites and the priests praised Yahweh day by day, singing with loud instruments to Yahweh. 22 Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of Yahweh. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings and making confession to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

23 The whole assembly took counsel to keep another seven days, and they kept another seven days with gladness. 24 For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly for offerings one thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep; and a great number of priests sanctified themselves. 25 All the assembly of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the assembly who came out of Israel, and the foreigners who came out of the land of Israel and who lived in Judah, rejoiced. 26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem; for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was nothing like this in Jerusalem. 27 Then the Levitical priests arose and blessed the people. Their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even to heaven.

Hiskias påskhögtid

De kunde nämligen inte fira den genast, eftersom prästerna ännu inte hade helgat sig i tillräckligt antal och folket inte var samlat i Jerusalem. 4 Därför tycktes det kungen och hela församlingen rätt att göra på det sättet. 5 *2 Mos 12:3f. Och de beslöt att ropa ut i hela Israel, från Beer-Sheba ända till Dan, att man skulle komma och fira Herrens, Israels Guds, påsk i Jerusalem. De flesta hade nämligen inte firat den så som det var föreskrivet.

6 *2 Krön 28:20f, Mal 3:7. Ilbuden gav sig av med breven från kungen och hans furstar, och de drog genom hela Israel och Juda enligt kungens befallning. De sade: "Ni Israels barn, vänd om till Herren, Abrahams, Isaks och Israels Gud. Då ska han vända om till den rest av er som har räddats från de assyriska kungarnas hand. 7 *2 Krön 29:8f. Och var inte som era fäder och bröder, som var trolösa mot Herren, sina fäders Gud, så att han utlämnade dem åt ödeläggelse, som ni själva har sett. 8 Var alltså nu inte hårdnackade som era fäder, utan räck Herren er hand och kom till hans helgedom som han har helgat för evig tid, och tjäna Herren er Gud, så ska hans brinnande vrede vändas från er. 9 *2 Mos 34:7, Jer 3:12, Mika 7:18. För om ni vänder om till Herren ska era bröder och era barn finna barmhärtighet hos dem som håller dem fångna, så att de får vända tillbaka till detta land. Herren er Gud är nådig och barmhärtig, och han ska inte vända sitt ansikte från er när ni vänder om till honom."

10 *2 Krön 36:16. Ilbuden for från stad till stad i Efraims och Manasses land och ända till Sebulon*30:10Efraims och Manasses land och ända till SebulonSamarien upp till Galileen, efter 722 f Kr bebott av ett inflyttat blandfolk (2 Kung 17:24f).. Men man skrattade åt dem och hånade dem. 11 Men det fanns några i Asher, Manasse och Sebulon som ödmjukade sig och kom till Jerusalem. 12 Också i Juda verkade Guds hand, så att han gav dem alla ett enigt hjärta till att göra vad kungen och furstarna hade befallt i kraft av Herrens ord.

13 Mycket folk, en stor församling, kom samman i Jerusalem för att fira det osyrade brödets högtid i andra månaden. 14 De stod upp och röjde bort de altaren som fanns i Jerusalem. De tog också bort alla rökelsealtaren och kastade dem i Kidrons dal. 15 *2 Krön 29:34. Och på fjortonde dagen i andra månaden slaktade de påskalammet.

Prästerna och leviterna, som nu skämdes och därför hade helgat sig, förde vid högtiden fram brännoffer till Herrens hus. 16 De inställde sig till tjänstgöring på sina platser, så som det var föreskrivet för dem i gudsmannen Moses lag. Prästerna stänkte med blodet, som de hade tagit emot av leviterna.

17 Det fanns nämligen många i församlingen som inte hade helgat sig. Därför måste leviterna slakta påskalammen för alla som inte var rena så att de kunde helga dem åt Herren. 18 *3 Mos 7:21, 4 Mos 9:6f. Det var en stor del av folket, många från Efraim och Manasse, Isaskar och Sebulon, som inte hade renat sig utan åt påskalammet på annat sätt än som var föreskrivet. Men Hiskia hade bett för dem och sagt: "Må Herren, den gode, förlåta var och en 19 som har vänt sitt hjärta till att söka Herren Gud, sina fäders Gud, även om han inte är ren efter helgedomens ordning." 20 *Ps 41:5. Och Herren hörde Hiskia och helade folket.

21 De av Israels barn som befann sig i Jerusalem firade så det osyrade brödets högtid med stor glädje i sju dagar. Varje dag prisade leviterna och prästerna Herren med mäktigt ljudande instrument till Herrens ära. 22 Hiskia talade vänligt till alla de leviter som hade god insikt i Herrens tjänst. Och de åt av högtidsoffren under de sju dagarna, samtidigt som de offrade gemenskapsoffer och tackade Herren, sina fäders Gud. 23 Hela församlingen enades om att fira högtid i ytterligare sju dagar, och man firade högtid med glädje också under de sju dagarna.

24 *2 Krön 29:34, 35:7f. Hiskia, Juda kung, hade som offergåva gett församlingen 1 000 tjurar och 7 000 djur av småboskapen, och furstarna hade som offergåva gett 1 000 tjurar och 10 000 djur av småboskapen. Och ett stort antal präster helgade sig. 25 Hela Juda församling gladde sig med prästerna och leviterna, och det gjorde också hela den församling som hade kommit från Israel, liksom de främlingar som hade kommit från Israels land eller som bodde i Juda. 26 Glädjen var stor i Jerusalem, för sedan Israels kung Salomos, Davids sons, tid hade inget liknande hänt i Jerusalem. 27 *4 Mos 6:23f. Prästerna och leviterna stod upp och välsignade folket, och deras röst blev hörd, och deras bön kom till hans heliga boning, till himlen.
