Jó 22

1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,

2 "Can a man be profitable to God?

Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.

3 Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous?

Or does it benefit him that you make your ways perfect?

4 Is it for your piety that he reproves you,

that he enters with you into judgment?

5 Isn’t your wickedness great?

Neither is there any end to your iniquities.

6 For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing,

and stripped the naked of their clothing.

7 You haven’t given water to the weary to drink,

and you have withheld bread from the hungry.

8 But as for the mighty man, he had the earth.

The honorable man, he lived in it.

9 You have sent widows away empty,

and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

10 Therefore snares are around you.

Sudden fear troubles you,

11 or darkness, so that you can not see,

and floods of waters cover you.

12 "Isn’t God in the heights of heaven?

See the height of the stars, how high they are!

13 You say, ‘What does God know?

Can he judge through the thick darkness?

14 Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he doesn’t see.

He walks on the vault of the sky.’

15 Will you keep the old way,

which wicked men have trodden,

16 who were snatched away before their time,

whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

17 who said to God, ‘Depart from us!’

and, ‘What can the Almighty do for us?’

18 Yet he filled their houses with good things,

but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

19 The righteous see it, and are glad.

The innocent ridicule them,

20 saying, ‘Surely those who rose up against us are cut off.

The fire has consumed their remnant.’

21 "Acquaint yourself with him now, and be at peace.

By it, good will come to you.

22 Please receive instruction from his mouth,

and lay up his words in your heart.

23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up,

if you put away unrighteousness far from your tents.

24 Lay your treasure in the dust,

the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks.

25 The Almighty will be your treasure,

and precious silver to you.

26 For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty,

and will lift up your face to God.

27 You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you.

You will pay your vows.

28 You will also decree a thing, and it will be established to you.

Light will shine on your ways.

29 When they cast down, you will say, ‘be lifted up.’

He will save the humble person.

30 He will even deliver him who is not innocent.

Yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands."

Elifas tredje tal

1 Då tog Elifas från Teman till orda och sade:

2 Kan en människa

vara till nytta för Gud,

kan en förståndig

3 *Job 35:7. Har den Allsmäktige

någon glädje av din rättfärdighet,

eller något att tjäna på att du

lever rent?

4 Är det för din gudsfruktan

som han straffar dig

och går till doms med dig?

5 Är inte din ondska stor

och dina missgärningar utan ände?

6 *Job 24:7f, Jes 58:7. Du tog ju pant av din broder

utan orsak

och plundrade de utblottade

på deras kläder.

7 *Job 31:17, 31, Matt 25:42. Du gav inget vatten åt den utmattade,

den hungrige nekade du bröd.

8 Den som brukar våld

fick besitta landet,

och den som är högt aktad

fick bo där.

9 Änkor lät du gå tomhänta bort,

och de faderlösas armar krossades.

10 *Job 18:9f. Därför omges du av snaror

och förfäras av plötslig skräck,

11 eller av mörker så att du inget ser

och av vattenmassor som täcker dig.

12 *Ps 147:4, Jes 40:26. Bor inte Gud i himlens höjd?

Och se på stjärnorna däruppe,

hur högt de sitter!

13 *Ps 10:11, 94:7, Jes 29:15, Jer 23:23f. Och du säger:

"Vad kan Gud veta?

Kan han döma genom detta töcken?

14 Molnen bildar en slöja

så att han inte ser

när han vandrar på himlavalvet."

15 Vill du hålla dig på forntidens väg

där fördärvets män*22:15fördärvets mänGenerationen vid syndafloden (se 1 Mos 6:4f). gick,

16 *1 Mos 6:5f, Job 15:32f, 21:13, 18. män som rycktes bort i förtid

när deras grund sveptes bort

av floden?

17 *Job 21:14f. De sade till Gud: "Lämna oss!

Vad kan den Allsmäktige göra?"

18 *Job 21:16, Jes 55:7f. Ändå var det han som fyllde

deras hus med välstånd.

Men de gudlösas rådslag

är fjärran ifrån mig.

19 *Ps 107:42. De rättfärdiga ser det och gläds,

den oskyldige hånar dem:

20 "Sannerligen,

våra motståndare är utrotade,

och elden har slukat deras överflöd."

21 Sök nu försoning och frid med Gud,

så ska lycka komma på din lott.

22 Ta emot undervisning av hans mun,

bevara hans ord i ditt hjärta.

23 *Job 8:5f, 11:14f. Om du omvänder dig

till den Allsmäktige

blir du upprättad,

om du avlägsnar orätten

från ditt tält,

24 om du kastar ditt guld i stoftet

och guldet från Ofir*22:24OfirBerömt guldproducerande land, troligen i södra Arabien (jfr 1 Mos 10:29, 1 Kung 9:28f).

bland bäckens stenar,

25 *Ps 119:72. då blir den Allsmäktige ditt guld,

han blir ditt ädlaste silver.

26 *Job 27:10, Ps 37:4. Ja, då ska du glädjas

i den Allsmäktige

och lyfta ditt ansikte till Gud.

27 *Job 11:13f, 33:26, Ps 50:14, Jes 65:24. När du ber till honom

ska han höra dig,

och du ska få uppfylla dina löften.

28 Allt du beslutar ska gå dig väl,

och ljus ska skina på dina vägar.

29 *Job 5:11, Ps 18:22, Luk 18:14, Jak 4:6. När de för nedåt

ska du säga: "Uppåt!"

Då ska han frälsa

den som sänker sin blick.

30 *Job 42:8f, Jak 5:16. Han ska rädda också den

som inte är oskyldig,

genom dina händers renhet

ska han räddas.
