Levítico 10

1 Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before Yahweh, which he had not commanded them. 2 Fire came out from before Yahweh, and devoured them, and they died before Yahweh.

3 Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is what Yahweh spoke of, saying,

‘I will show myself holy to those who come near me,

and before all the people I will be glorified.’"

Aaron held his peace. 4 Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, "Draw near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary out of the camp." 5 So they came near, and carried them in their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.

6 Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, "Don’t let the hair of your heads go loose, and don’t tear your clothes, so that you don’t die, and so that he will not be angry with all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which Yahweh has kindled. 7 You shall not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting, lest you die; for the anointing oil of Yahweh is on you." They did according to the word of Moses. 8 Then Yahweh said to Aaron, 9 "You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. 10 You are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean. 11 You are to teach the children of Israel all the statutes which Yahweh has spoken to them by Moses."

12 Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons who were left, "Take the meal offering that remains of the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, and eat it without yeast beside the altar; for it is most holy; 13 and you shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your portion, and your sons’ portion, of the offerings of Yahweh made by fire; for so I am commanded. 14 The waved breast and the heaved thigh you shall eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you: for they are given as your portion, and your sons’ portion, out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the children of Israel. 15 They shall bring the heaved thigh and the waved breast with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before Yahweh. It shall be yours, and your sons’ with you, as a portion forever, as Yahweh has commanded."

16 Moses diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and, behold,*10:16 "Behold", from "הִנֵּה", means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection. it was burned. He was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left, saying, 17 "Why haven’t you eaten the sin offering in the place of the sanctuary, since it is most holy, and he has given it to you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before Yahweh? 18 Behold, its blood was not brought into the inner part of the sanctuary. You certainly should have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded."

19 Aaron spoke to Moses, "Behold, today they have offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before Yahweh; and such things as these have happened to me. If I had eaten the sin offering today, would it have been pleasing in Yahweh’s sight?"

20 When Moses heard that, it was pleasing in his sight.

Nadabs och Abihus synd

Då gick eld ut från Herren och förtärde dem, och de dog inför Herren. 3 *Ps 18:26f. Och Mose sade till Aron: "Detta är vad Herren har sagt: På dem som står mig nära ska jag visa mig helig och inför allt folket visa mig härlig." Och Aron teg stilla*10:3teg stillaIstället för att ropa ut sin sorg som man brukade (jfr 2 Mos 12:30). Jfr vers 6..

4 *2 Mos 6:18, 22, 4 Mos 3:19. Mose kallade till sig Mishael och Elsafan, söner till Arons farbror Ussiel, och sade till dem: "Kom fram och bär ut era släktingar från helgedomen, utanför lägret." 5 Då steg de fram och bar ut dem i deras tunikor från lägret, så som Mose hade sagt. 6 Sedan sade Mose till Aron och till hans söner Eleasar och Itamar: "Ni ska inte ha ert hår oordnat eller riva sönder era kläder*10:6hår oordnat … riva sönder era kläderUttryck för sorg (jfr Esra 9:3) som skulle undvikas eftersom prästtjänsten gick före familjeband (se 21:10f).. Annars kan ni dö och vrede drabbar hela församlingen. Men era bröder, hela Israels hus, får gråta över den brand som Herren har tänt. 7 *3 Mos 8:30. Ni ska inte lämna uppenbarelsetältets ingång, för att ni inte ska dö, för Herrens smörjelseolja är på er." Och de gjorde enligt Moses ord.

Regler för präster

8 Herren talade till Aron. Han sade: 9 *Hes 44:21, 1 Tim 3:3, Tit 1:7. "För att ni inte ska dö får varken du själv eller dina söner dricka vin eller starka drycker*10:9starka dryckerT ex öl. Tempelprästerna skulle vara noga med sin uppgift (jfr Jes 28:7). när ni ska gå in i uppenbarelsetältet. Det ska vara en evig stadga för er från släkte till släkte. 10 Ni ska skilja mellan heligt och oheligt, mellan orent och rent. 11 Och ni ska lära Israels barn alla de stadgar*10:11lära … stadgarUndervisning var en av prästernas uppgifter (5 Mos 24:8, Mal 2:6f). som Herren har kungjort för dem genom Mose."

12 *3 Mos 2:3, 6:16. Mose sade till Aron och till Eleasar och Itamar, hans kvarvarande söner: "Ta det matoffer som har blivit över av Herrens eldsoffer och ät det osyrat vid sidan av altaret, för det är högheligt. 13 Ni ska äta det på en helig plats, för det är din och dina söners lagliga rätt av Herrens eldsoffer. Den befallningen har jag fått. 14 *2 Mos 29:27f. Lyftofferbringan och offergärdslåret ska ni äta på en ren plats, du och dina söner och döttrar med dig, för du har fått dem som din och dina söners lagliga rätt av Israels barns gemenskapsoffer. 15 Tillsammans med eldsoffren av fettstyckena ska offergärdslåret och lyftofferbringan bäras fram för att lyftas som ett lyftoffer inför Herrens ansikte. De ska tillhöra dig och dina söner med dig som en evig rätt, så som Herren har befallt."

16 *3 Mos 9:3. Mose frågade efter syndofferbocken, och se, den var uppbränd. Då blev Mose vred på Eleasar och Itamar, Arons kvarvarande söner, och sade: 17 "Varför har ni inte ätit syndoffret*10:17ätit syndoffretSyndofferbocken skulle normalt ätas (6:26). på den heliga platsen? Det är ju högheligt. Han har gett er det för att ni ska ta bort församlingens skuld och bringa försoning för dem inför Herrens ansikte. 18 *3 Mos 6:26. Se, dess blod har inte burits in i helgedomens inre. Därför skulle ni ha ätit upp köttet på helig plats, så som jag hade befallt."

19 Men Aron sade till Mose: "Se, de har i dag offrat sitt syndoffer och brännoffer inför Herrens ansikte och du vet vad som har hänt mig. Om jag nu i dag hade ätit syndofferkött, skulle det ha varit välbehagligt för Herren?" 20 När Mose hörde det var han nöjd.
