| 5 | They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. | Jõnek messze földrõl, az égnek végérõl, az Úr, és haragjának eszközei, elpusztítani mind az egész földet. |
| 6 | Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. | Jajgassatok, mert közel van az Úrnak napja, mint pusztító hatalom jõ a Mindenhatótól. |
| 7 | Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: | Ezért megerõtlenülnek minden kezek, és elolvad minden embernek szíve; |
| 8 | And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. | És megrémülnek, kínok és fájdalmak fogják el õket, és szenvednek, mint a szülõasszony; egyik a másikon csodálkozik, és arczuk lángba borul. |

| 16 | Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be plundered, and their wives ravished. | Kisdedeiket szemök elõtt zúzzák szét, házaikat elzsákmányolják, és feleségeiket megszeplõsítik. |
| 17 | Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. | Ímé, én feltámasztom ellenök a Médiabelieket, a kik ezüsttel nem gondolnak, és aranyban nem gyönyörködnek; |
| 18 | Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. | Kézíveik szétzúznak ifjakat, és nem könyörülnek a méh gyümölcsén, a fiaknak nem irgalmaz szemök: |
| 19 mapa | And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellence, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. | És [olyan] lesz Babilon, a királyságok ékessége, a Khaldeusok dicsekvésének dísze, mint a hogyan elpusztítá Isten Sodomát és Gomorát; |

| 21 | But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. | Hanem vadak tanyáznak ott, és baglyok töltik be házaikat, és struczok laknak ott, és bakok szökdelnek ott; |
| 22 | And the wild beasts of the isles shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged. | És vad ebek üvöltenek palotáikban, és mulató házaikban sakálok; és ideje nem sokára eljõ, és napjai nem késnek. |
