1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God; A Jézus Krisztus, az Isten Fia evangyéliomának kezdete,
2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee; A mint meg van írva a prófétáknál: Ímé én elküldöm az én követemet a te orczád elõtt, a ki megkészíti a te útadat elõtted;
3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Kiáltónak szava a pusztában: Készítsétek meg az Úrnak útját, egyengessétek meg az õ ösvényeit:
4 John was baptizing in the wilderness, and preaching the baptism of repentance, for the remission of sins. Elõáll vala János, keresztelvén a pusztában és prédikálván a megtérésnek keresztségét a bûnöknek bocsánatára.
5 ver mapa And there went out to him all the land of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. És kiméne hozzá Júdeának egész tartománya és a Jeruzsálembeliek is, és megkeresztelkedének mindnyájan õ általa a Jordán vizében, bûneikrõl vallást tévén.
6 And John was clothed with camels hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he ate locusts and wild honey; János pedig teveszõrruhát és dereka körül bõrövet viselt vala, és sáskát és erdei mézet eszik vala.
7 And preached, saying, There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. És prédikála, mondván: Utánam jõ, a ki erõsebb nálam, a kinek nem vagyok méltó, hogy lehajolván, sarujának szíjját megoldjam.
8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. Én vízzel kereszteltelek titeket, de õ Szent Lélekkel keresztel titeket.
9 ver mapa And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth to Galilee, and was baptized by John in Jordan. És lõn azokban a napokban, eljöve Jézus a galileai Názáretbõl, és megkeresztelteték János által a Jordánban.
10 And immediately coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him. És azonnal feljõvén a vízbõl, látá az egeket megnyilatkozni, és a Lelket mint egy galambot õ reá leszállani;
11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. És szózat lõn az égbõl: Te vagy az én szerelmes fiam, a kiben én gyönyörködöm.
12 And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. És a Lélek azonnal elragadá õt a pusztába.
13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan: and was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him. És ott volt a pusztában negyven napig kísértetve a Sátántól, és a vad állatokkal vala együtt; és az angyalok szolgálnak vala néki.
14 ver mapa Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, Minekutána pedig János tömlöczbe vettetett, elméne Jézus Galileába, prédikálván az Isten országának evangyéliomát,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. És mondván: Bétölt az idõ, és elközelített az Istennek országa; térjetek meg, és higyjetek az evangyéliomban.
16 ver mapa Now as he was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. Mikor pedig Galilea tengere mellett járt, látá Simont és Andrást, annak testvérét, a mint a tengerbe hálót vetének; mert halászok valának.
17 And Jesus said to them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. És monda nékik Jézus: Kövessetek engem, és én azt mívelem, hogy embereket halászszatok.
18 And immediately they forsook their nets, and followed him. És azonnal elhagyván az õ hálóikat, követék õt.
19 And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. És onnan egy kevéssé elébb menve, látá Jakabot, a Zebedeus fiát és annak testvérét, Jánost, a mint a hajóban azok is a hálókat kötözgetik vala.
20 And immediately he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him. És azonnal hívá õket. És õk atyjukat, Zebedeust a napszámosokkal a hajóban hagyva, utána menének.
21 ver mapa And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath he entered into the synagogue and taught. És bemenének Kapernaumba; és mindjárt szombatnapon bemenvén a zsinagógába, tanít vala.
22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. És elálmélkodának az õ tanításán; mert úgy tanítja vala õket, mint a kinek hatalma van, és nem úgy mint az írástudók.
23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Vala pedig azok zsinagógájában egy ember, a kiben tisztátalan lélek volt, és felkiálta,
24 ver mapa Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. És monda: Ah! mi dolgunk van nékünk veled, Názáreti Jézus? Azért jöttél-é, hogy elveszíts minket? Tudom, hogy ki vagy te: az Istennek Szentje.
25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. És megdorgálá õt Jézus, mondván: Némulj meg, és menj ki belõle.
26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. És a tisztátalan lélek megszaggatá õt, és fenszóval kiáltva, kiméne belõle.
27 And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority he commandeth even the unclean spirits, and they obey him. És mindnyájan elálmélkodának, annyira, hogy egymás között kérdezgeték, mondván: Mi ez? Micsoda új tudomány ez, hogy hatalommal parancsol a tisztátalan lelkeknek is, és engedelmeskednek néki?
28 ver mapa And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region around Galilee. És azonnal elméne az õ híre Galilea egész környékére.
29 And forthwith, when they had come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. És a zsinagógából azonnal kimenvén, a Simon és András házához menének Jakabbal és Jánossal együtt.
30 But the mother of Simon's wife lay sick with a fever; and forthwith they tell him of her. A Simon napa pedig hideglelésben fekszik vala, és azonnal szólának néki felõle.
31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered to them. És õ odamenvén, fölemelé azt, annak kezét fogván; és elhagyá azt a hideglelés azonnal, és szolgál vala nékik.
32 And at evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with demons. Estefelé pedig, a mikor leszállt a nap, mind õ hozzá vivék a betegeseket és az ördöngõsöket;
33 And all the city was gathered at the door. És az egész város oda gyûlt vala az ajtó elé.
34 And he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many demons; and suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him. És meggyógyíta sokakat, a kik különféle betegségekben sínlõdnek vala; és sok ördögöt kiûze, és nem hagyja vala szólni az ördögöket, mivelhogy õt ismerék.
35 And in the morning, rising a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Kora reggel pedig, még szürkületkor, fölkelvén, kiméne, és elméne egy puszta helyre és ott imádkozék.
36 And Simon, and they that were with him, followed after him. Simon pedig és a vele lévõk utána sietének;
37 And when they had found him, they said to him, All men seek for thee. És a mikor megtalálák õt, mondának néki: Mindenki téged keres.
38 And he said to them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for, for this purpose have I come. És õ monda nékik: Menjünk a közel való városokba, hogy ott is prédikáljak, mert azért jöttem.
39 ver mapa And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out demons. És prédikál vala azoknak zsinagógáiban, egész Galileában, és ördögöket ûz vala.
40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying to him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. És jöve hozzá egy bélpoklos, kérvén õt és leborulván elõtte és mondván néki: Ha akarod, megtisztíthatsz engem.
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith to him, I will; be thou clean. Jézus pedig könyörületességre indulván, kezét kinyújtva megérinté õt, és monda néki: Akarom, tisztulj meg.
42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. És a mint ezt mondja vala, azonnal eltávozék tõle a poklosság és megtisztula.
43 And he strictly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; És erõsen megfenyegetvén, azonnal elküldé õt,
44 And saith to him, See thou say nothing to any man; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them. És monda néki: Meglásd, hogy senkinek semmit ne szólj; hanem eredj el, mutasd meg magadat a papnak, és vidd fel a te tisztulásodért, a mit Mózes parancsolt, bizonyságul nékik.
45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, so that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter. Az pedig kimenvén, kezde sokat beszélni és terjeszteni a dolgot, annyira, hogy nyilvánosan immár be sem mehetett Jézus a városba, hanem künn puszta helyeken vala, és mennek vala hozzá mindenfelõl.
