| 1 | After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests, and the scribes, sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. | Két nap mulva pedig húsvét vala és a kovásztalan kenyerek ünnepe. És a fõpapok és az írástudók tanakodnak vala, hogy csalárdsággal mimódon fogják meg és öljék meg õt. |
| 2 | But they said, Not on the feast-day, lest there should be an uproar of the people. | Mert azt mondják vala: Ne az ünnepen, hogy a nép fel ne zendüljön. |
| 3 mapa | And being in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard, very precious; and she broke the box, and poured it on his head. | Mikor pedig Bethániában a poklos Simon házánál vala, a mint asztalhoz üle, egy asszony méne oda, a kinél alabástrom edény vala valódi és igen drága nárdus olajjal; és eltörvén az alabástrom edényt kitölté [azt] az õ fejére. |
| 4 | And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? | Némelyek pedig háborognak vala magok között és mondának: Mire való volt az olajnak ez a tékozlása? |
| 5 | For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. | Mert el lehetett volna azt adni háromszáz pénznél is többért, és odaadni a szegényeknek. És zúgolódnak vala ellene. |
| 6 | And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. | Jézus pedig monda: Hagyjatok békét néki; miért bántjátok õt? jó dolgot cselekedett én velem. |
| 7 | For ye have the poor with you always, and whenever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. | Mert a szegények mindenkor veletek lesznek, és a mikor csak akarjátok, jót tehettek velök; de én nem leszek mindenkor veletek. |
| 8 | She hath done what she could: she is come beforehand to anoint my body to the burying. | Õ a mi tõle telt, azt tevé: elõre megkente az én testemet a temetésre. |
| 9 | Verily I say to you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of, for a memorial of her. | Bizony mondom néktek: Valahol csak prédikálják ezt az evangyéliomot az egész világon, a mit ez az asszony cselekedett, azt is hirdetni fogják az õ emlékezetére. |
| 10 | And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests, to betray him to them. | Akkor Júdás, az Iskariotes, egy a tizenkettõ közül, elméne a fõpapokhoz, hogy õt azoknak elárulja. |
| 11 | And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him. | Azok pedig, a mint meghallák, örvendezének, és igérék, hogy pénzt adnak néki. Õ pedig keresi vala, mimódon árulhatná el õt jó alkalommal. |
| 12 | And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said to him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare, that thou mayest eat the passover? | És a kovásztalan kenyerek ünnepének elsõ napján, mikor a húsvéti bárányt vágják vala, mondának néki az õ tanítványai: Hol akarod, hogy elmenvén megkészítsük, hogy megehesd a húsvéti bárányt? |
| 13 | And he sendeth two of his disciples, and saith to them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. | Akkor elkülde kettõt az õ tanítványai közül, és monda nékik: Menjetek el a városba, és egy ember jõ elõtökbe, a ki egy korsó vizet visz; kövessétek õt, |
| 14 | And wherever he shall go in, say ye to the master of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guest-chamber, where I may eat the passover with my disciples? | És a hová bemegy, mondjátok a házi gazdának: A Mester kérdi: hol van az a szállás, a hol megeszem az én tanítványaimmal a húsvéti bárányt? |
| 15 | And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us. | És õ mutat néktek egy nagy vacsoráló házat berendezve, készen: ott készítsétek el nékünk. |
| 16 | And his disciples went, and came into the city, and found as he had said to them: and they made ready the passover. | Elmenének azért az õ tanítványai, és jutának a városba, és úgy találák, a mint nékik megmondotta, és elkészíték a húsvéti bárányt. |
| 17 | And in the evening he cometh with the twelve. | Mikor pedig este lõn, oda méne a tizenkettõvel. |
| 18 | And as they sat, and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say to you, One of you who eateth with me, will betray me. | És a mikor leülnek és esznek vala monda Jézus: Bizony mondom néktek, egy közületek elárul engem, a ki velem eszik. |
| 19 | And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? | Õk pedig kezdének szomorkodni és néki egyenként mondani: Csak nem én? A másik is: Csak nem én? |
| 20 | And he answered and said to them, It is one of the twelve that dippeth with me in the dish. | Õ pedig felelvén, monda nékik: Egy a tizenkettõ közül, a ki velem együtt márt a tálba. |
| 21 | The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written concerning him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born. | Az embernek Fia jóllehet elmegy, a mint meg van írva felõle; de jaj annak az embernek, a ki az embernek Fiát elárulja; jobb lenne annak az embernek, ha nem született volna. |
| 22 | And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. | És mikor õk evének, vévén Jézus a kenyeret, és hálákat adván, megtöré és adá nékik, mondván: Vegyétek, egyétek; ez az én testem. |
| 23 | And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. | És vévén a poharat, [és] hálákat adván, adá nékik; és ivának abból mindnyájan; |
| 24 | And he said to them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. | És monda nékik: Ez az én vérem, az új szövetség [vére,] a mely sokakért kiontatik. |
| 25 | Verily I say to you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God. | Bizony mondom néktek, nem iszom többé a szõlõtõnek gyümölcsébõl mind ama napig, a mikor mint újat iszom azt az Isten országában. |
| 26 mapa | And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives. | És dicséretet énekelve kimenének az olajfák hegyére. |
| 27 | And Jesus saith to them, All ye will be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. | És monda nékik Jézus: Ezen az éjszakán mindnyájan megbotránkoztok bennem; mert meg van írva: Megverem a pásztort, és elszélednek a juhok. |
| 28 mapa | But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. | De feltámadásom után elõttetek fogok felmenni Galileába. |
| 29 | But Peter said to him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. | Péter pedig monda néki: Ha mindnyájan megbotránkoznak is, de én nem. |
| 30 | And Jesus saith to him, Verily I say to thee, that this day, even in this night, before the cock shall crow twice, thou wilt deny me thrice. | És monda néki Jézus: Bizony mondom néked, hogy ma, ezen az éjszakán, mielõtt a kakas kétszer szólana, háromszor tagadsz meg engem. |
| 31 | But he spoke the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all. | Õ pedig annál inkább erõsíti vala: Ha veled együtt kell is meghalnom, semmiképen meg nem tagadlak téged. Hasonlóképen szólanak vala a többiek is. |
| 32 mapa | And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. | És menének ama helyre, a melynek Gecsemáné a neve; és monda az õ tanítványainak: Üljetek le itt, a míg imádkozom. |
| 33 | And he taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and to be very heavy; | És maga mellé vevé Pétert és Jakabot és Jánost, és kezde rettegni és gyötrõdni; |
| 34 | And saith to them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful to death: tarry ye here, and watch. | És monda nékik: Szomorú az én lelkem mind halálig; maradjatok itt, és vigyázzatok. |
| 35 | And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, If it were possible, the hour might pass from him. | És egy kevéssé elõre menvén, a földre esék, és imádkozék, hogy, ha lehetséges, múljék el tõle ez az óra; |
| 36 | And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt. | És monda: Abba, Atyám! Minden lehetséges néked. Vidd el tõlem ezt a poharat; mindazáltal ne az én akaratom [legyen meg,] hanem a tied. |
| 37 | And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldst not thou watch one hour? | Azután visszatére és aluva találá õket, és monda Péternek: Simon, alszol? Nem bírtál egy óráig vigyázni? |
| 38 | Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. | Vigyázzatok és imádkozzatok, hogy kísértetbe ne jussatok; a lélek ugyan kész, de a test erõtelen. |
| 39 | And again he went away, and prayed, and spoke the same words. | És ismét elmenvén, imádkozék, ugyanazon szavakkal szólván. |
| 40 | And when he returned, he found them asleep again (for their eyes were heavy:) neither knew they what to answer him. | A mikor pedig visszatére, ismét aluva találá õket; mert a szemeik megnehezedtek vala, és nem tudták mit feleljenek néki. |
| 41 | And he cometh the third time, and saith to them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. | Harmadszor is jöve, és monda nékik: Aludjatok immár és nyugodjatok. Elég; eljött az óra; ímé az embernek Fia a bûnösök kezébe adatik. |
| 42 | Rise, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand. | Keljetek föl, menjünk: ímé elközelgett, a ki engem elárul. |
| 43 | And immediately while he was yet speaking, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staffs, from the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders. | És mindjárt még mikor õ szól vala, eljöve Júdás, egy a tizenkettõ közül, és vele együtt nagy sokaság, fegyverekkel és botokkal, a fõpapoktól, az írástudóktól és a vénektõl. |
| 44 | And he that betrayed him, had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. | Az õ elárulója pedig jelt ada nékik, mondván: A kit megcsókolok majd, õ az; fogjátok meg azt, és vigyétek el biztonsággal. |
| 45 | And as soon as he was come, he goeth immediately to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him. | És odajutván, azonnal hozzáméne, és monda: Mester! Mester! és megcsókolá õt. |
| 46 | And they laid their hands on him, and took him. | Azok pedig ráveték kezeiket, és megfogák õt. |
| 47 | And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. | De egy az ott állók közül az õ szablyáját kivonván, a fõpap szolgájához csapa, és levágá annak fülét. |
| 48 | And Jesus answered and said to them, Have ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staffs to take me? | Jézus pedig felelvén, monda nékik: Mint egy rablóra, úgy jöttetek-é reám fegyverekkel és botokkal, hogy megfogjatok engem?! |
| 49 | I was daily with you in the temple, teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled. | Naponta nálatok valék, a templomban tanítva, és nem fogtatok meg engem; de [szükség,] hogy az írások beteljesedjenek. |
| 50 | And they all forsook him, and fled. | Akkor elhagyván õt, mindnyájan elfutának. |
| 51 | And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him. | Egy ifjú pedig követé õt, a kinek testét csak egy gyolcs ing takarta; és megfogák õt az ifjak. |
| 52 | And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked. | De õ ott hagyva az ingét, meztelenül elszalada tõlük. |
| 53 | And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests, and the elders and the scribes. | És vivék Jézust a fõpaphoz. És oda gyûlének mindnyájan a fõpapok, a vének és az írástudók. |
| 54 | And Peter followed him at a distance, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. | Péter pedig távolról követé õt, be egészen a fõpap udvaráig: és ott üle a szolgákkal, és melegszik vala a tûznél. |
| 55 | And the chief priests, and all the council sought for testimony against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. | A fõpapok pedig és az egész tanács bizonyságot keresnek vala Jézus ellen, hogy megölhessék õt; de nem találnak vala. |
| 56 | For many bore false testimony against him, but their testimony agreed not together. | Mert sokan tesznek vala [ugyan] hamis tanúbizonyságot ellene, de a bizonyságtételek nem valának megegyezõk. |
| 57 | And there arose certain, and bore false testimony against him, saying, | És némelyek fölkelének és hamis tanúbizonyságot tõnek ellene, mondván: |
| 58 | We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. | Mi hallottuk, mikor ezt mondá: Én lerontom ezt a kézzel csinált templomot, és három nap alatt mást építek, a mely nem kézzel csináltatott. |
| 59 | But neither so did their testimony agree together. | De még így sem vala egyezõ az õ bizonyságtételük. |
| 60 | And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these testify against thee? | Akkor a fõpap odaállván a középre, megkérdé Jézust, mondván: Semmit sem felelsz-é? Miféle bizonyságot tesznek ezek te ellened? |
| 61 | But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said to him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? | Õ pedig hallgat vala, és semmit sem felele. Ismét megkérdezé õt a fõpap, és monda néki: Te vagy-é a Krisztus, az áldott [Isten] Fia? |
| 62 | And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. | Jézus pedig monda: Én vagyok. És meglátjátok majd az embernek Fiát ülni a hatalomnak jobbján, és eljõni az ég felhõivel. |
| 63 | Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? | A fõpap pedig megszaggatván ruháit, monda: Mi szükségünk van még tanúkra? |
| 64 | Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. | Hallátok a káromlást. Mi tetszik néktek? Azok pedig halálra méltónak ítélték õt mindnyájan. |
| 65 | And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, Prophesy: and the servants struck him with the palms of their hands. | És kezdék õt némelyek köpdösni, és az õ orczáját elfedni, és õt öklözni, és mondani néki: Prófétálj! A szolgák pedig arczul csapdossák vala õt. |
| 66 | And as Peter was below in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: | A mint pedig Péter lent vala az udvarban, odajöve egy a fõpap szolgálói közül; |
| 67 | And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. | És meglátván Pétert, a mint melegszik vala, rátekintvén, monda: Te is a Názáreti Jézussal valál! |
| 68 | But he denied, saying, I know not, neither do I understand what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crowed. | Õ pedig megtagadá, mondván: Nem ismerem, s nem is értem, mit mondasz. És kiméne a tornáczra; és a kakas megszólala. |
| 69 | And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. | A szolgáló pedig meglátva õt, kezdé ismét mondani az ott állóknak: Ez közülök való. |
| 70 | And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. | Õ pedig ismét megtagadá. De kevés idõ múlva az ott állók ismét mondják vala Péternek: Bizony közülök való vagy; mert Galileabeli is vagy, és a beszéded [is] hasonló. |
| 71 | But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. | Õ pedig kezde átkozódni és esküdözni, hogy: Nem ismerem azt az embert, a kirõl beszéltek. |
| 72 | And the second time the cock crowed. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said to him, Before the cock shall crow twice, thou wilt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. | És másodszor szóla a kakas. És Péternek eszébe juta a beszéd, a melyet néki Jézus mondott vala, hogy mielõtt a kakas kétszer szólana, háromszor megtagadsz engem. És sírva fakada. |
