1 Vir die musiekleier; op die wysie van: "M halat." 'n Onderwysing van Dawid.2 Die dwaas sê in sy hart: Daar is geen God nie! Hulle het sleg gehandel en hul onreg afskuwelik gemaak; daar is niemand wat goed doen nie.3 God het uit die hemel neergesien op die mensekinders om te sien of daar iemand verstandig is, wat na God vra.4 Hulle het almal afgewyk, tesame het hulle ontaard; daar is niemand wat goed doen nie, ook nie een nie.5 Het die werkers van ongeregtigheid dan geen kennis nie, wat my volk opeet asof hulle brood eet? Hulle roep God nie aan nie.6 D r het skrik hulle oorweldig sonder dat daar skrik was; want God het die beendere verstrooi van hom wat jou beleër het; jy het hulle beskaamd gemaak, want God het hulle verwerp. [ (Psalms 53:7) Ag, mag die verlossing van Israel uit Sion kom! As God die lot van sy volk verander, dan sal Jakob juig, Israel sal bly wees. ]

1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.

Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity;

There is none that doeth good.

2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men,

To see if there were any that did understand,

That did seek after God.

3 Every one of them is gone back; they are together become filthy;

There is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge,

Who eat up my people as they eat bread,

And call not upon God?

5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was;

For God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee:

Thou hast put them to shame, because God hath rejected them.

6 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion!

When God bringeth back the captivity of his people,

Then shall Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
