1 And he said to them, Verily I say unto you, There are some of those standing here that shall not taste death until they shall have seen the kingdom of God come in power. 2 And after six days Jesus takes with him Peter and James and John, and takes them up on a high mountain by themselves apart. And he was transfigured before them: 3 and his garments became shining, exceeding white as snow, such as fuller on earth could not whiten them. 4 And there appeared to them Elias with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter answering says to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good that we should be here; and let us make three tabernacles, for thee one, and for Moses one, and for Elias one. 6 For he knew not what he should say, for they were filled with fear. 7 And there came a cloud overshadowing them, and there came a voice out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 8 And suddenly having looked around, they no longer saw any one, but Jesus alone with themselves. 9 And as they descended from the mountain, he charged them that they should relate to no one what they had seen, unless when the Son of man should be risen from among the dead. 10 And they kept that saying, questioning among themselves, what rising from among the dead was. 11 And they asked him saying, Why do the scribes say that Elias must first have come? 12 And he answering said to them, Elias indeed, having first come, restores all things; and how is it written of the Son of man that he must suffer much, and be set at nought: 13 but I say unto you that Elias also is come, and they have done to him whatever they would, as it is written of him.

14 And when he came to the disciples he saw a great crowd around them, and scribes disputing against them. 15 And immediately all the crowd seeing him were amazed, and running to him, saluted him. 16 And he asked them, What do ye question with them about? 17 And one out of the crowd answered him, Teacher, I brought to thee my son, who has a dumb spirit; 18 and wheresoever it seizes him it tears him, and he foams and gnashes his teeth, and he is withering away. And I spoke to thy disciples, that they might cast him out, and they could not. 19 But he answering them says, O unbelieving generation! how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him to me. 20 And they brought him to him. And seeing him the spirit immediately tore him; and falling upon the earth he rolled foaming. 21 And he asked his father, How long a time is it that it has been like this with him? And he said, From childhood; 22 and often it has cast him both into fire and into waters that it might destroy him: but if thou couldst do anything, be moved with pity on us, and help us. 23 And Jesus said to him, The ‘if thou couldst’ is if thou couldst believe: all things are possible to him that believes. 24 And immediately the father of the young child crying out said with tears, I believe, help mine unbelief. 25 But Jesus, seeing that the crowd was running up together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. 26 And having cried out and torn him much, he came out; and he became as if dead, so that the most said, He is dead. 27 But Jesus, having taken hold of him by the hand, lifted him up, and he arose. 28 And when he was entered into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Wherefore could not we cast him out? 29 And he said to them, This kind can go out by nothing but by prayer and fasting.

30 And going forth from thence they went through Galilee; and he would not that any one knew it; 31 for he taught his disciples and said to them, The Son of man is delivered into men’s hands, and they shall kill him; and having been killed, after three days he shall rise again. 32 But they understood not the saying, and feared to ask him. 33 And he came to Capernaum, and being in the house, he asked them, Of what were ye reasoning by the way? 34 And they remained silent, for by the way they had been reasoning with one another who was greatest. 35 And sitting down he called the twelve; and he says to them, If any one would be first, he shall be last of all, and minister of all. 36 And taking a little child he set it in their midst, and having taken it in his arms he said to them, 37 Whosoever shall receive one of such little children in my name, receives me; and whosoever shall receive me, does not receive me, but him who sent me. 38 And John answered him saying, Teacher, we saw some one casting out demons in thy name, who does not follow us, and we forbad him, because he does not follow us. 39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not; for there is no one who shall do a miracle in my name, and be able soon after to speak ill of me; 40 for he who is not against us is for us.

41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye are Christ’s, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. 42 And whosoever shall be a snare to one of the little ones who believe in me, it were better for him if a millstone were hung about his neck, and he cast into the sea. 43 And if thy hand serve as a snare to thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having thy two hands to go away into hell, into the fire unquenchable; 44 where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot serve as a snare to thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life lame, than having thy two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire unquenchable; 46 where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye serve as a snare to thee, cast it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire, 48 where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched. 49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt is become saltless, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.

2 După*Mat. 17:1.Luca 9:28. șase zile, Isus a luat cu El pe Petru, pe Iacov și pe Ioan și i-a dus singuri de o parte pe un munte înalt. Acolo S-a schimbat la față înaintea lor. 3 Hainele Lui s-au făcut strălucitoare și foarte albe*Dan. 7:9.Mat. 28:3., de o albeață pe care niciun înălbitor de pe pământ n-o poate da. 4 Ilie li s-a arătat împreună cu Moise și sta de vorbă cu Isus. 5 Petru a luat cuvântul și a zis lui Isus: „Învățătorule, este bine să stăm aici, să facem trei colibe: una pentru Tine, una pentru Moise și una pentru Ilie." 6 Căci nu știa ce să zică, atât de mare spaimă îi apucase. 7 A venit un nor și i-a acoperit cu umbra lui. Și din nor s-a auzit un glas, care zicea: „Acesta este Fiul Meu preaiubit: de El să ascultați!" 8 Îndată, ucenicii s-au uitat împrejur și n-au mai văzut pe nimeni, decât pe Isus singur cu ei. 9 Pe*Mat. 17:9. când se coborau de pe munte, Isus le-a poruncit să nu spună nimănui ce au văzut, până va învia Fiul omului dintre cei morți. 10 Ei au păstrat în ei lucrul acesta și se întrebau între ei ce să însemne învierea aceea dintre cei morți. 11 Ucenicii I-au pus următoarea întrebare: „Pentru ce zic cărturarii că*Mat. 4:5;17:10. trebuie să vină întâi Ilie?" 12 El le-a răspuns: „Ilie va veni întâi și va așeza din nou toate lucrurile, tot așa după cum*Ps. 22:6.Is. 53:2.Dan. 9:26.este scris despre Fiul omului că trebuie să pătimească mult și să*Luca 23:11.Filip. 2:7.fie defăimat.13 Dar Eu vă spun că Ilie*Mat. 11:14;17:12.Luca 1:17.a și venit și ei i-au făcut ce au vrut, după cum este scris despre el."

14 Când*Mat. 17:14.Luca 9:37. au ajuns la ucenici, au văzut mult norod împrejurul lor și pe cărturari întrebându-se cu ei. 15 De îndată ce a văzut norodul pe Isus, s-a mirat și a alergat la El să I se închine. 16 El i-a întrebat: „Despre ce vă întrebați cu ei?"17 Și un om din norod I-a răspuns*Mat. 17:14.Luca 9:38.: „Învățătorule, am adus la Tine pe fiul meu, care este stăpânit de un duh mut. 18 Oriunde îl apucă, îl trântește la pământ. Copilul face spumă la gură, scrâșnește din dinți și rămâne țeapăn. M-am rugat de ucenicii Tăi să scoată duhul, și n-au putut." 19 „O, neam necredincios!", le-a zis Isus. „Până când voi fi cu voi? Până când vă voi suferi? Aduceți-l la Mine."20 L-au adus la El. Și, cum a văzut*Cap. 1:26.Luca 9:42. copilul pe Isus, duhul l-a scuturat cu putere, copilul a căzut la pământ și se zvârcolea făcând spumă la gură. 21 Isus a întrebat pe tatăl lui: „Câtă vreme este de când îi vine așa?" „Din copilărie", a răspuns el. 22 „Și, de multe ori, duhul l-a aruncat când în foc, când în apă, ca să-l omoare. Dar, dacă poți face ceva, fie-Ți milă de noi și ajută-ne." 23 Isus a răspuns: „Tu zici: ‘Dacă*Mat. 17:20. Cap. 11:23.Luca 17:6.Ioan 11:40.poți.’ Toate lucrurile sunt cu putință celui ce crede!"24 Îndată, tatăl copilului a strigat cu lacrimi: „Cred, Doamne! Ajută necredinței mele!" 25 Când a văzut Isus că norodul vine în fuga mare spre El, a mustrat duhul necurat și i-a zis: „Duh mut și surd, îți poruncesc să ieși din copilul acesta și să nu mai intri în el."26 Și duhul a ieșit, țipând și scuturându-l cu mare putere. Copilul a rămas ca mort, așa că mulți ziceau: „A murit!" 27 Dar Isus l-a apucat de mână și l-a ridicat. Și el s-a sculat în picioare. 28 Când*Mat. 17:19. a intrat Isus în casă, ucenicii Lui L-au întrebat deoparte: „Noi de ce n-am putut să scoatem duhul acesta?" 29 „Acest soi de draci", le-a zis El, „nu poate ieși decât prin rugăciune și post."

30 Au plecat de acolo și au trecut prin Galileea. Isus nu voia să știe nimeni că trece. 31 Căci*Mat. 17:22.Luca 9:44. învăța pe ucenicii Săi și zicea: „Fiul omului va fi dat în mâinile oamenilor; ei Îl vor omorî, și a treia zi după ce-L vor omorî, va învia."32 Dar ucenicii nu înțelegeau cuvintele acestea și se temeau să-L întrebe.

33 Apoi*Mat. 18:1.Luca 9:46;22:24. au venit la Capernaum. Când era în casă, Isus i-a întrebat: „Despre ce vorbeați unul cu altul pe drum?"34 Dar ei tăceau, pentru că pe drum se certaseră între ei ca să știe cine este cel mai mare. 35 Atunci, Isus a șezut jos, a chemat pe cei doisprezece și le-a zis: „Dacă vrea cineva*Mat. 20:26,27. Cap. 10:43.să fie cel dintâi, trebuie să fie cel mai de pe urmă din toți și slujitorul tuturor!"36 Și a luat*Mat. 18:2. Cap. 10:16. un copilaș și l-a așezat în mijlocul lor, apoi l-a luat în brațe și le-a zis: 37 „Oricine primește pe unul din acești copilași în Numele Meu Mă primește pe Mine și oricine*Mat. 10:40.Luca 9:48.Mă primește pe Mine nu Mă primește pe Mine, ci pe Cel ce M-a trimis pe Mine."

38 Ioan*Num. 11:28.Luca 9:49. I-a zis: „Învățătorule, noi am văzut pe un om scoțând draci în Numele Tău și l-am oprit, pentru că nu venea după noi." 39 „Nu-l opriți", a răspuns Isus, „căci*1 Cor. 12:3.nu este nimeni care să facă minuni în Numele Meu și să Mă poată grăi de rău îndată după aceea.40 Cine*Mat. 12:30.nu este împotriva noastră este pentru noi.41 Și*Mat. 10:42.oricine vă va da de băut un pahar cu apă în Numele Meu, pentru că sunteți ucenici ai lui Hristos, adevărat vă spun că nu-și va pierde răsplata.42 Dar*Mat. 18:6.Luca 17:1., dacă va face cineva să păcătuiască pe unul din acești micuți care cred în Mine, ar fi mai bine pentru el să i se lege de gât o piatră mare de moară și să fie aruncat în mare.43 Dacă*Deut. 13:6.Mat. 5:29;18:8.mâna ta te face să cazi în păcat, tai-o; este mai bine pentru tine să intri ciung în viață decât să ai două mâini și să mergi în gheenă, în focul care nu se stinge,44 unde*Is. 66:24.viermele lor nu moare și focul nu se stinge.45 Dacă piciorul tău te face să cazi în păcat, taie-l; este mai bine pentru tine să intri în viață șchiop decât să ai două picioare și să fii aruncat în gheenă, în focul care nu se stinge,46 unde viermele lor nu moare și focul nu se stinge.47 Și dacă ochiul tău te face să cazi în păcat, scoate-l; este mai bine pentru tine să intri în Împărăția lui Dumnezeu numai cu un ochi, decât să ai doi ochi și să fii aruncat în focul gheenei,48 unde viermele lor nu moare și focul nu se stinge.49 Pentru că fiecare om va fi sărat cu foc și orice*Lev. 2:13.Ezec. 43:24.jertfă va fi sărată cu sare.50 Sarea este bună*Mat. 5:13.Luca 14:34., dar, dacă sarea își pierde puterea de a săra, cu ce îi veți da înapoi puterea aceasta?
