Visão da mortandade dos culpados

1 Ele me gritou aos ouvidos em alta *Is 6.8voz, dizendo: Chegai vós os que estais encarregados da cidade, cada um com as suas armas destruidoras na mão. 2 Do caminho da porta superior, que olha para o norte, eis que vinham seis homens, cada um com seu instrumento de matança na mão; e, no meio deles *Ez 10.2um homem vestido de linho, tendo um tinteiro de escrevente à sua cintura. Entraram e puseram-se junto ao altar de cobre.

3 *Ez 10.4;11.22-23A glória do Deus de Israel tinha-se removido de cima do *Ez 10.2,20querubim sobre o qual estava para a entrada da casa; e chamou ao homem vestido de linho, que tinha o tinteiro de escrevente à sua cintura. 4 Disse-lhe Jeová: Passa pelo meio da cidade, pelo meio de Jerusalém, *Ez 9.6;Êx 12.7,13;2Co 1.22;2Tm 2.19;Ap 7.2-3e marca com um sinal as testas dos homens que suspiram e *Ez 6.11;21.6;Sl 119.53,136;Jr 13.17que gemem por causa de todas as abominações que se fazem no meio dela. 5 Aos outros disse ele, ouvindo-o eu: Passai pela cidade após ele, e feri.

Saíram e entraram na cidade. 8 Enquanto eles estavam ferindo, e eu me achava sozinho, *1Cr 21.16caí com o rosto em terra, e clamei, e disse: *Ez 11.13;Am 7.2-6Ah! Senhor Jeová! Dar-se-á caso que destruas as relíquias de Israel, derramando o teu furor sobre Jerusalém?

9 Então, me disse ele: A iniquidade da casa de Israel e de Judá é grande em extremo, a terra está *Ez 7.23;22.2-3;2Rs 21.16;Jr 2.34cheia de sangue, e a cidade, cheia da *Ez 22.29;Mq 3.1-3;7.3perversão de juízos, porque *Ez 8.12;Jó 22.13;Sl 10.11;94.7;Is 29.15dizem: Jeová abandonou a terra, Jeová não vê. 10 Também quanto a mim, *Ez 8.18;24.14;Is 65.6os meus olhos não pouparão, nem mostrarei piedade, porém sobre a cabeça deles *Ez 7.4;11.21;Os 9.7farei recair o seu caminho. 11 Eis que *Ez 9.4o homem vestido de linho, que tinha o tinteiro à sua cintura, relatou, dizendo: Tenho feito como me ordenaste.

1 Then he cried in my ears with a loud voice, saying, "Cause those who are in charge of the city to draw near, each man with his destroying weapon in his hand." 2 Behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which lies toward the north, every man with his slaughter weapon in his hand. One man in the middle of them was clothed in linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side. They went in, and stood beside the bronze altar.

3 The glory of the God of Israel went up from the cherub, whereupon it was, to the threshold of the house; and he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writer’s inkhorn by his side. 4 Yahweh said to him, "Go through the middle of the city, through the middle of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done within it."

5 To the others he said in my hearing, "Go through the city after him, and strike. Don’t let your eye spare, neither have pity. 6 Kill utterly the old man, the young man, the virgin, little children and women; but don’t come near any man on whom is the mark. Begin at my sanctuary."

Then they began at the old men who were before the house.

7 He said to them, "Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!"

They went out, and struck in the city.

8 While they were killing, and I was left, I fell on my face, and cried, and said, "Ah Lord Yahweh! Will you destroy all the residue of Israel in your pouring out of your wrath on Jerusalem?"

9 Then he said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion; for they say, ‘Yahweh has forsaken the land, and Yahweh doesn’t see.’ 10 As for me also, my eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity, but I will bring their way on their head."

11 Behold, the man clothed in linen, who had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, "I have done as you have commanded me."
