As bodas em Caná da Galileia

1 *Jo 1.29,35,43Ao terceiro dia, depois disso houve um casamento em *Jo 2.11;Jo 4.46;21.2Caná da Galileia, e achava-se ali a *Mt 12.46mãe de Jesus; 2 e foi também Jesus convidado ao casamento com *Jo 1.40-49;2.12,17,22;3.22;4.2,8,27ss.;6.8,12,16,22,24; cp.Jo 6.60-61,66;7.3;8.31, etc.seus discípulos. 3 Tendo acabado o vinho, a mãe de Jesus disse-lhe: Eles não têm mais vinho. 4 Respondeu-lhe Jesus: *Mt 8.29Que tenho eu contigo, *Jo 19.26mulher? Ainda não é chegada *cp.Jo 7.6,8,30;8.20a minha hora. 5 Disse sua mãe aos serventes: Fazei o que ele vos mandar. 6 Ora, estavam ali colocadas seis talhas de pedra, que *cp.Mc 7.3s.;Jo 3.25os judeus usavam para as purificações, e levava cada uma duas ou três metretas*Medida da capacidade de 30 litros.. 7 Disse-lhes Jesus: Enchei de água as talhas. Encheram-nas até acima. 8 Então, lhes disse: Tirai agora e levai ao presidente da mesa. Eles o fizeram. 9 Quando o presidente da mesa provou a água *Jo 4.46tornada em vinho, não sabendo donde era (mas o sabiam os serventes que haviam tirado a água), chamou ao noivo 10 e disse-lhe: Todo homem põe primeiro o bom vinho e, quando os convidados *Mt 24.49;Lc 12.45;At 2.15;1Co 11.21;Ef 5.18;1Ts 5.7;Ap 17.2,6têm bebido bastante, então, lhes apresenta o inferior; mas tu guardaste o bom vinho até agora. 11 Com esse *Jo 2.23;Jo 3.2;4.54;6.2,14,26,30;7.31;9.16;10.41;11.47;12.18,37;20.30milagre deu Jesus em Caná da *Jo 1.43Galileia princípio aos seus milagres e assim manifestou a sua *Jo 1.14glória; e os seus discípulos creram nele.

Jesus desce a Cafarnaum

12 Depois disso, desceu ele a *Mt 4.13Cafarnaum com sua *Mt 12.46mãe, seus irmãos e seus *Jo 2.2discípulos; e não ficaram ali muitos dias.

Jesus purifica o templo

13 Estava próxima *Jo 6.4;11.55; cp.5.1a Páscoa dos judeus, e Jesus *Dt 16.1-6;Lc 2.41;Jo 2.23subiu a Jerusalém. 14 *Jo 2.14-16;Mt 21.12ss.;Mc 11.15-17;Lc 19.45s.; cp.Ml 3.1ss.Achou no templo os que vendiam bois, ovelhas e pombas e também os cambistas sentados; 15 e, tendo feito um azorrague de cordas, expulsou a todos do templo, as ovelhas bem como os bois, derramou pelo chão o dinheiro dos cambistas, virou as mesas 16 e disse aos que vendiam as *Mt 21.12pombas: Tirai daqui estas coisas; não façais *cp.Lc 2.49da casa de meu Pai uma casa de negócio. 17 Então, se lembraram seus discípulos de que está escrito: *Sl 69.9O zelo da tua casa me devorará. 18 *Jo 1.19Perguntaram-lhe, pois, os judeus: *Mt 12.38Que milagre nos mostras, visto que fazes essas coisas? 19 Respondeu-lhes Jesus: *Mt 26.61;27.40;Mc 14.58;15.29; cp.At 6.14Deitai por terra este santuário, e em três dias o levantarei. 20 Replicaram-lhe, pois, os judeus: *cp.Ed 5.16Em quarenta e seis anos foi edificado este santuário, e tu o levantarás em três dias? 21 Mas ele se referia *cp.1Co 6.19ao santuário de seu corpo. 22 Quando, pois, foi ressuscitado dentre os mortos, *Lc 24.8;Jo 12.16; cp.Jo 2.17;14.26lembraram-se seus discípulos de que ele dissera isso e creram *cp.Sl 16.10;Jo 20.9;Lc 24.26s.;At 13.33na Escritura e na palavra que Jesus havia dito.

Muitos creram em Jesus

23 Estando ele em Jerusalém na festa da *Jo 2.13Páscoa, muitos, *Jo 2.11vendo os milagres que ele fazia, creram no seu nome; 24 mas o próprio Jesus não confiava neles, porque conhecia a todos 25 e não precisava que alguém lhe desse testemunho do homem; *Jo 6.61,64;13.11;Mt 9.4; cp.Jo 1.42,47pois ele mesmo conhecia o que havia no homem.

1 The third day, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. 2 Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the wedding. 3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, "They have no wine."

4 Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come."

5 His mother said to the servants, "Whatever he says to you, do it."

6 Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews’ way of purifying, containing two or three metretes*2:6 2 to 3 metretes is about 20 to 30 U. S. Gallons, or 75 to 115 liters. apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the water pots with water." So they filled them up to the brim. 8 He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast." So they took it. 9 When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and didn’t know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!" 11 This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

12 After this, he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples; and they stayed there a few days.

13 The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 He found in the temple those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, and the changers of money sitting. 15 He made a whip of cords and drove all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers’ money and overthrew their tables. 16 To those who sold the doves, he said, "Take these things out of here! Don’t make my Father’s house a marketplace!" 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will eat me up."✝2:17 Psalms 69:9

18 The Jews therefore answered him, "What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?"

19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."

20 The Jews therefore said, "It took forty-six years to build this temple! Will you raise it up in three days?" 21 But he spoke of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.

23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, observing his signs which he did. 24 But Jesus didn’t entrust himself to them, because he knew everyone, 25 and because he didn’t need for anyone to testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
