¶ Respondeu mais Eliú, dizendo: |
Moreover Elihu answered and said, |

Tens por direito dizeres: Maior é a minha justiça do que a de Deus? |
Thinkest thou this to be [thy] right, [Or] sayest thou, My righteousness is more than God's, |
|
3
|
Porque disseste: De que me serviria? Que proveito tiraria mais do que do meu pecado? |
That thou sayest, What advantage will it be unto thee? [And], What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned? |
|
4
|
Eu te darei resposta, a ti e aos teus amigos contigo. |
I will answer thee, And thy companions with thee. |
|
5
|
Atenta para os céus, e vê; e contempla as mais altas nuvens, que são mais altas do que tu. |
Look unto the heavens, and see; And behold the skies, which are higher than thou. |
|

|
Se pecares, que efetuarás contra ele? Se as tuas transgressões se multiplicarem, que lhe farás? |
If thou hast sinned, what effectest thou against him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? |
|

|
Se fores justo, que lhe darás, ou que receberá ele da tua mão? |
If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? Or what receiveth he of thy hand? |
|
8
|
A tua impiedade faria mal a outro tal como tu; e a tua justiça aproveitaria ao filho do homem. |
Thy wickedness [may hurt] a man as thou art; And thy righteousness [may profit] a son of man. |
|

|
¶ Por causa das muitas opressões os homens clamam por causa do braço dos grandes. |
By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty. |
|
10
|
Porém ninguém diz: Onde está Deus que me criou, que dá salmos durante a noite; |
But none saith, Where is God my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night, |
|
11
|
Que nos ensina mais do que aos animais da terra e nos faz mais sábios do que as aves dos céus? |
Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of the heavens? |
|
12
|
Clamam, porém ele não responde, por causa da arrogância dos maus. |
There they cry, but none giveth answer, Because of the pride of evil men. |
|
13
|
Certo é que Deus não ouvirá a vaidade, nem atentará para ela o Todo-Poderoso. |
Surely God will not hear an empty [cry], Neither will the Almighty regard it. |
|
14
|
¶ E quanto ao que disseste, que o não verás, juízo há perante ele; por isso espera nele. |
How much less when thou sayest thou beholdest him not, The cause is before him, and thou waitest for him! |
|
15
|
Mas agora, porque a sua ira ainda não se exerce, nem grandemente considera a arrogância, |
But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, Neither doth he greatly regard arrogance; |
|
16
|
Logo Jó em vão abre a sua boca, e sem ciência multiplica palavras. |
Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vanity; He multiplieth words without knowledge. |
