1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God, Pál, Jézus Krisztusnak szolgája, elhívott apostol, elválasztva Isten evangyéliomá[nak hirdetésére.]
2 (Which he had promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures) Melyet eleve megígért az õ prófétái által a szentírásokban,
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh. Az õ Fia felõl, a ki Dávid magvából lett test szerint,
4 And declared to be the Son of God, with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: A ki megbizonyíttatott hatalmasan Isten Fiának a szentség Lelke szerint, a halálból való feltámadás által, a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus felõl,
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for his name: A ki által vettük a kegyelmet és az apostolságot a hitben való engedelmességnek okáért, minden pogányok között, az õ nevéért;
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: Kik között vagytok ti is, Jézus Krisztusnak hivatalosai:
7 ver mapa To all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. Mindeneknek, a kik Rómában vagytok, Isten szerelmeseinek, hivatalos szenteknek: Kegyelem néktek és békesség Istentõl, a mi Atyánktól és az Úr Jézus Krisztustól.
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. Elõször hálát adok az én Istenemnek a Jézus Krisztus által mindnyájatokért, hogy a ti hiteteknek az egész világon híre van;
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, Mert bizonyságom nékem az Isten, kinek lelkem szerint szolgálok az õ Fiának evangyéliomában, hogy szüntelen emlékezem felõletek,
10 Making request (if by any means now at length I may have a prosperous journey by the will of God) to come to you. Imádkozásaimban mindenkor könyörögvén, vajha egyszer már jó szerencsés út adódnék nékem Istennek akaratából, hogy hozzátok mehessek;
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; Mert kívánlak titeket látni, hogy valami lelki ajándékot közölhessek veletek a ti megerõsítésetekre,
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you, by the mutual faith both of you and me. Azaz, hogy együtt felbuzduljunk ti nálatok egymás hite által, a tiétek meg az enyém által.
13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that I have often purposed to come to you (but have been hitherto hindered) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. Nem akarom pedig, hogy ne tudjátok atyámfiai, hogy én gyakran elvégeztem magamban, hogy elmegyek hozzátok (de mindez ideig megakadályoztattam), hogy köztetek is nyerjek valami lelki gyümölcsöt, mint a többi pogányok közt is.
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the barbarians, both to the wise, and to the unwise. Mind a görögöknek, mind a barbároknak, mind a bölcseknek, mind a tudatlanoknak köteles vagyok.
15 ver mapa So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. Azért a mi rajtam áll, kész vagyok néktek is, a kik Rómában vagytok, az evangyéliomot hirdetni.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Mert nem szégyenlem a Krisztus evangyéliomát; mert Istennek hatalma az minden hívõnek idvességére, zsidónak elõször meg görögnek.
17 For in this is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Mert az Istennek igazsága jelentetik ki abban hitbõl hitbe, miképen meg van írva: Az igaz ember pedig hitbõl él.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness, and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Mert nyilván van az Istennek haragja mennybõl, az embereknek minden hitetlensége és hamissága ellen, kik az igazságot hamissággal feltartóztatják.
19 Because that which may be known of God, is manifest in them; for God hath shown it to them. Mert a mi az Isten felõl tudható nyilván van õ bennök; mert az Isten megjelentette nékik:
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Mert a mi Istenben láthatatlan, tudniillik az õ örökké való hatalma és istensége, a világ teremtésétõl fogva az õ alkotásaiból megértetvén megláttatik; úgy, hogy õk menthetetlenek.
21 Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Mert bár az Istent megismerték, mindazáltal nem mint Istent dicsõítették õt, sem néki hálákat nem adtak; hanem az õ okoskodásaikban hiábavalókká lettek, és az õ balgatag szívök megsötétedett.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools: Magokat bölcseknek vallván, balgatagokká lettek;
23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping animals. És az örökkévaló Istennek dicsõségét felcserélték a mulandó embereknek és madaraknak és négylábú állatoknak és csúszó-mászó állatoknak képmásával.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Annakokáért adta is õket az Isten szívök kivánságaiban tisztátalanságra, hogy egymás testét megszeplõsítsék;
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Mint a kik az Isten igazságát hazugsággá változtatták, és a teremtett dolgokat tisztelték és szolgálták a teremtõ helyett, a ki mind örökké áldott. Ámen.
26 For this cause God gave them up to vile affections. For even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Annakokáért adta õket az Isten tisztátalan indulatokra; mert az õ asszonynépeik is elváltoztatták a természet folyását természetellenesre:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one towards another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. Hasonlóképen a férfiak is elhagyván az asszonynéppel való természetes élést, egymásra gerjedtek bujaságukban, férfiak férfiakkal fertelmeskedvén, és az õ tévelygésöknek méltó jutalmát elvevén önmagokban.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; És a miképen nem méltatták az Istent arra, hogy ismeretökben megtartsák, azonképen oda adták õket az Isten méltatlan gondolkozásra, hogy illetlen dolgokat cselekedjenek;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, A kik teljesek minden hamissággal, paráznasággal, gonoszsággal, kapzsisággal, rosszasággal; rakvák, írigységgel, gyilkossággal, versengéssel, álnoksággal, rossz erkölcscsel;
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventers of evil things, disobedient to parents, Súsárlók, rágalmazók, istengyûlölõk, dölyfösek, kevélyek, dicsekedõk, rosszban mesterkedõk, szüleiknek engedetlenek,
31 Without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Balgatagok, összeférhetetlenek, szeretet nélkül valók, engesztelhetetlenek, irgalmatlanok.
32 Who, knowing the judgment of God, that they who commit such things are worthy of death; not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Kik jóllehet az Isten végzését ismerik, hogy a kik ilyeneket cselekesznek, méltók a halálra, mégis nemcsak cselekszik azokat, hanem az akképen cselekvõkkel egyet is értenek.
