| 3 | For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. | Mert Krisztus sem önmagának kedveskedett, hanem a mint meg van írva: A te gyalázóidnak gyalázásai hullottak reám. |
| 4 | For whatever things were written formerly, were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. | Mert a melyek régen megirattak, a mi tanulságunkra irattak meg: hogy békességes tûrés által és az írásoknak vígasztalása által reménységünk legyen. |
| 5 | Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one towards another according to Christ Jesus: | A békességes tûrésnek és vígasztalásnak Istene pedig adja néktek, hogy ugyanazon indulat legyen bennetek egymás iránt Krisztus Jézus szerint: |
| 6 | That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. | Hogy egy szívvel, egy szájjal dicsõítsétek az Istent és a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztusnak Atyját. |
| 7 | Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. | Azért fogadjátok be egymást, miképen Krisztus is befogadott minket az Isten dicsõségére. |
| 8 | Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers: | Mondom pedig, hogy Jézus Krisztus szolgája lett a körülmetélkedésnek az Isten igazságáért, hogy megerõsítse az atyák ígéreteit; |
| 9 | And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing to thy name. | A pogányok pedig irgalmasságáért dicsõítik Istent, a mint meg van írva: Annakokáért vallást teszek rólad a pogányok között, és dícséretet éneklek a te nevednek. |
| 10 | And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. | És ismét azt mondja: Örüljetek pogányok az õ népével együtt. |
| 11 | And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people. | És ismét: Dícsérjétek az Urat minden pogányok, és magasztaljátok õt minden népek. |
| 12 | And again Isaiah saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust. | És viszont Ésaiás így szól: Lészen a Jessének gyökere, és a ki felkel, hogy uralkodjék a pogányokon; õ benne reménykednek a pogányok. |
| 13 | Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit. | A reménységnek Istene pedig töltsön be titeket minden örömmel és békességgel a hivésben, hogy bõvölködjetek a reménységben a Szent Lélek ereje által. |
| 14 | And I myself also am persuaded concerning you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. | Meg vagyok pedig gyõzõdve atyámfiai én magam is ti felõletek, hogy teljesek vagytok minden jósággal, betöltve minden ismerettel, képesek lévén egymást is inteni. |
| 15 | Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly to you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me from God. | Bátorságosabban írtam pedig néktek atyámfiai, részben, mintegy emlékeztetvén titeket az Istentõl nékem adott kegyelem által, |
| 16 | That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. | Hogy legyek a Jézus Krisztus szolgája a pogányok között, munkálkodván az Isten evangyéliomában, hogy legyen a pogányoknak áldozata kedves [és] a Szent Lélek által megszentelt. |
| 17 | I have therefore cause for glorying through Jesus Christ, in those things which pertain to God. | Van azért mivel dicsekedjem a Jézus Krisztusban, az Istenre tartozó dolgokban. |
| 18 | For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, | Mert nem merek szólni semmirõl, a mit nem Krisztus cselekedett volna általam a pogányoknak engedelmességére, szóval és tettel. |
| 19 mapa | Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and around to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. | Jelek és csodák ereje által, az Isten Lelkének ereje által; úgyannyira, hogy én Jeruzsálemtõl és környékétõl fogva Illyriáig betöltöttem a Krisztus evangyéliomát. |
| 20 | And so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation: | Ekképen pedig tisztességbeli dolog, hogy ne ott hirdessem az evangyéliomot, ahol neveztetett Krisztus, hogy ne más alapra építsek: |
| 21 | But as it is written, They shall see to whom he was not spoken of: and they that have not heard shall understand. | Hanem a mint meg van írva: A kiknek nem hirdettetett õ felõle, azok meglátják; és a kik nem hallották, megértik. |
| 22 | For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you. | Annakokáért meg is akadályoztattam gyakran a hozzátok való menetelben. |
| 23 | But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come to you; | Most pedig, mivelhogy nincs már helyem e tartományokban, vágyódván pedig sok esztendõ óta, hogy elmenjek hozzátok: |
| 24 mapa | Whenever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I shall be somewhat filled with your company. | Ha Hispániába megyek, elmegyek ti hozzátok. Mert remélem, hogy átutazóban meglátlak titeket, és ti elkísértek oda, ha elõbb részben beteljesedem veletek. |
| 25 mapa | But now I go to Jerusalem to minister to the saints. | Most pedig megyek Jeruzsálembe, szolgálván a szenteknek. |
| 26 mapa | For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor of the saints who are at Jerusalem. | Mert tetszett Macedóniának és Akhájának, hogy a Jeruzsálembeli szentek szegényei részére némileg adakozzanak. |
| 27 | It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in carnal things. | Mert tetszett nékik, és tartoznak is vele. Mert ha a pogányok azoknak a lelki javaiban részesültek, tartoznak nékik viszont szolgálni a testiekben. |
| 28 mapa | When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will go by you into Spain. | Ezt azért ha majd elvégezem, és nékik e gyümölcsöt átadom, elmegyek közöttetek által Hispániába. |
| 29 | And I am sure that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. | Tudom pedig, hogy mikor hozzátok megyek, a Krisztus evangyélioma áldásának teljességével megyek. |
| 30 | Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; | Kérlek pedig titeket atyámfiai a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztusra és a Lélek szerelmére, tusakodjatok velem együtt az imádkozásokban, én érettem Isten elõtt, |
| 31 mapa | That I may be delivered from them in Judea who do not believe; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem, may be acceptable to the saints; | Hogy szabaduljak meg azoktól, a kik engedetlenek Júdeában, és hogy az én Jeruzsálemben való szolgálatom legyen kedves a szentek elõtt; |
| 32 | That I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed. | Hogy örömmel menjek hozzátok az Isten akaratából, és veletek együtt megújuljak. |
| 33 | Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen. | A békességnek Istene pedig legyen mindnyájan ti veletek! Ámen. |
