1 I love thee, O Jehovah, my strength.
2 Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge;
My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
3 I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised:
So shall I be saved from mine enemies.
4 The cords of death compassed me,
And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.
5 The cords of Sheol were round about me;
The snares of death came upon me.
6 In my distress I called upon Jehovah,
And cried unto my God:
He heard my voice out of his temple,
And my cry before him came into his ears.
7 Then the earth shook and trembled;
The foundations also of the mountains quaked
And were shaken, because he was wroth.
8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils,
And fire out of his mouth devoured:
Coals were kindled by it.
9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down;
And thick darkness was under his feet.
10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly;
Yea, he soared upon the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness his hiding-place, his pavilion round about him,
Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
12 At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed,
Hailstones and coals of fire.
13 Jehovah also thundered in the heavens,
And the Most High uttered his voice,
Hailstones and coals of fire.
14 And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them;
Yea, lightnings manifold, and discomfited them.
15 Then the channels of waters appeared,
And the foundations of the world were laid bare,
At thy rebuke, O Jehovah,
At the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
16 He sent from on high, he took me;
He drew me out of many waters.
17 He delivered me from my strong enemy,
And from them that hated me; for they were too mighty for me.
18 They came upon me in the day of my calamity;
But Jehovah was my stay.
19 He brought me forth also into a large place;
He delivered me, because he delighted in me.
20 Jehovah hath rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
21 For I have kept the ways of Jehovah,
And have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all his ordinances were before me,
And I put not away his statutes from me.
23 I was also perfect with him,
And I kept myself from mine iniquity.
24 Therefore hath Jehovah recompensed me according to my righteousness,
According to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
25 With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful;
With the perfect man thou wilt show thyself perfect;
26 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure;
And with the perverse thou wilt show thyself froward.
27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people;
But the haughty eyes thou wilt bring down.
28 For thou wilt light my lamp:
Jehovah my God will lighten my darkness.
29 For by thee I run upon a troop;
And by my God do I leap over a wall.
30 As for God, his way is perfect:
The word of Jehovah is tried;
He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.
31 For who is God, save Jehovah?
And who is a rock, besides our God,
32 The God that girdeth me with strength,
And maketh my way perfect?
33 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet:
And setteth me upon my high places.
34 He teacheth my hands to war;
So that mine arms do bend a bow of brass.
35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation;
And thy right hand hath holden me up,
And thy gentleness hath made me great.
36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me,
And my feet have not slipped.
37 I will pursue mine enemies, and overtake them;
Neither will I turn again till they are consumed.
38 I will smite them through, so that they shall not be able to rise:
They shall fall under my feet.
39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle:
Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
40 Thou hast also made mine enemies turn their backs unto me,
That I might cut off them that hate me.
41 They cried, but there was none to save;
Even unto Jehovah, but he answered them not.
42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind;
I did cast them out as the mire of the streets.
43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people;
Thou hast made me the head of the nations:
A people whom I have not known shall serve me.
44 As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me;
The foreigners shall submit themselves unto me.
45 The foreigners shall fade away,
And shall come trembling out of their close places.
46 Jehovah liveth; and blessed be my rock;
And exalted be the God of my salvation,
47 Even the God that executeth vengeance for me,
And subdueth peoples under me.
48 He rescueth me from mine enemies;
Yea, thou liftest me up above them that rise up against me;
Thou deliverest me from the violent man.
49 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah, among the nations,
And will sing praises unto thy name.
50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king,
And showeth lovingkindness to his anointed,
To David and to his seed, for evermore.
1 Ó Senhor Deus, como eu te amo!
Tu és a minha força.
2 O Senhor é a minha rocha,
a minha fortaleza
e o meu libertador.
O meu Deus é uma rocha
em que me escondo.
Ele me protege como um escudo;
ele é o meu abrigo,
e com ele estou seguro.
3 Eu clamo a Deus, pedindo ajuda,
e ele me salva dos meus inimigos.
Louvem a Deus, o Senhor!
4 Estive cercado de perigos de morte,
e ondas de destruição
rolaram sobre mim.
5 A morte me amarrou com as suas cordas,
e a sepultura armou a sua armadilha
para me pegar.
6 No meu desespero,
eu clamei ao Senhor
e pedi que ele me ajudasse.
Do seu templo no céu
o Senhor ouviu a minha voz,
ele escutou o meu grito de socorro.
7 Então a terra tremeu e se abalou,
e as bases dos montes
balançaram e tremeram
porque Deus estava irado.
8 Do seu nariz saiu fumaça,
e da sua boca saíram brasas
e fogo devorador.
9 Ele abriu o céu e desceu
com uma nuvem escura
debaixo dos pés.
10 Voou nas costas de um querubim
e viajou rápido nas asas do vento.
11 Ele se cobriu de escuridão;
nuvens grossas, cheias de água,
estavam ao seu redor.
12 Brasas e chuva de pedra
saíram dos relâmpagos
que estavam diante dele
e atravessaram as nuvens escuras.
13 Então o Senhor trovejou do céu;
o Altíssimo fez ouvir a sua voz.
14 Ele atirou as suas flechas
e espalhou os seus inimigos;
com o clarão dos seus relâmpagos
ele os fez fugir.
15 Quando tu, ó Senhor Deus,
repreendeste os teus inimigos
e, furioso, trovejaste contra eles,
o fundo do mar apareceu,
e os alicerces da terra
ficaram descobertos.
16 Lá do alto, o Senhor me estendeu a mão
e me segurou;
ele me tirou do mar profundo.
17 O Senhor me livrou
dos meus poderosos inimigos,
daqueles que me odiavam.
E todos eles eram fortes demais
para mim.
18 Quando eu estava em dificuldade,
eles me atacaram;
porém o Senhor me protegeu,
19 me livrou do perigo
e me salvou porque me ama.
20 O Senhor Deus me recompensa
porque sou honesto;
ele me abençoa porque sou inocente.
21 Eu tenho feito a vontade do Senhor
e nunca cometi o pecado
de abandonar o meu Deus.
22 Eu tenho cumprido todas as suas leis
e não tenho desobedecido
aos seus mandamentos.
23 O Senhor sabe que não cometi
nenhuma falta
e que tenho ficado longe do mal.
24 Assim ele me recompensa
porque sou honesto
e porque sabe que não sou culpado
de nada.
25 Tu, ó Senhor Deus, és fiel
com os que são fiéis a ti
e correto com aqueles
que são corretos.
26 Tu és puro para os que são puros,
mas és inimigo dos que são maus.
27 Tu salvas os humildes,
mas humilhas os orgulhosos.
28 Tu, ó Senhor, me iluminas;
tu, meu Deus, acabas
com a minha escuridão.
29 Tu me dás força para atacar
os meus inimigos
e poder para vencer as suas defesas.
30 Este Deus faz tudo perfeito
e cumpre o que promete.
Ele é como um escudo
para os que procuram
a sua proteção.
31 O Senhor é o único Deus;
somente Deus é a nossa rocha.
32 Ele é o Deus que me dá forças
e me protege aonde quer que eu vá.
33 Ele não me deixa tropeçar
e me põe a salvo nas montanhas.
34 Ele me treina para a batalha
para que eu possa usar
os arcos mais fortes.
35 Tu, ó Senhor Deus, me deste
o escudo que salva a minha vida.
O teu cuidado
me tem feito prosperar,
e o teu poder me tem sustentado.
36 Tu não tens deixado
que os meus inimigos me peguem,
e eu não caí nenhuma vez.
37 Persigo esses inimigos
e os pego de surpresa;
não paro até acabar com eles.
38 Eu os esmago,
e eles não podem se levantar;
eles caem derrotados aos meus pés.
39 Tu me dás força para a batalha
e fazes com que eu derrote
os meus inimigos.
40 Tu fazes com que eles fujam de mim,
e eu destruo os que me odeiam.
41 Eles gritam pedindo socorro,
mas não há ninguém para salvá-los.
Chamam o Senhor Deus,
mas ele não responde.
42 Eu os esmago, e eles viram pó,
o pó que o vento leva.
Eu os piso como se fossem
a lama das ruas.
43 Tu me livras de revoluções
no meio do povo
e me colocas como rei das nações.
Povos que eu não conhecia
são agora meus escravos.
44 Estrangeiros se curvam
diante de mim
e me obedecem quando dou ordens.
45 Eles perdem a coragem
e saem tremendo das suas fortalezas.
46 O Senhor vive.
Louvem aquele que é a minha rocha,
anunciem a grandeza do Deus
que salva a minha vida.
47 Ele me vinga dos meus inimigos,
põe os povos debaixo do meu poder
48 e me livra dos meus adversários.
Tu, ó Senhor Deus, fazes com que
eu vença os meus inimigos
e me proteges dos homens violentos.
49 Por isso eu te louvo entre os pagãos;
a ti eu canto hinos de louvor.
50 Deus dá grandes vitórias ao seu rei
e mostra o seu amor
a quem ele escolheu —
a Davi e aos seus descendentes,
para sempre.
