Provérbios 31

ASV

He Tohutohu ki tētahi Kīngi

1 Ko ngā kupu a Kīngi Remuera; ko te poropititanga i whakaakona ai ia e tōna whaea:

2 He aha, e tāku tama? He aha, e te tama a tōku kōpū?

Ā, he aha, e te tama a āku kupu taurangi?

ehara ngā kīngi te inu wāina;

ehara hoki ngā rangatira te mea, "Kei hea he wai kaha?"

he wāina hoki ki ngā wairua pōuri;

7 tukua ia kia inu, kia wareware ai ki tōna rawakore,

ā, kore ake he mahara ki ōna mate.

8 Kia puaki tōu māngai te wahangū,

i te whakawākanga o te hunga katoa kua waiho te mate.

9 Kia puaki tōu māngai, whakaritea te whakawā i runga i te tika,

tohea te tohe a te ware, a te rawakore.

Te Wahine Pai Tōna Āhua

10 Ko wai e kite i te wahine e ū ana tōna pai?

Ko tōna utu hoki kei runga noa atu i ngā rupi.

12 He pai tāna e mea ai ki a ia, kāhore hoki he kino,

i ngā katoa e ora ai ia.

13 E kimi ana ia i te huruhuru hipi, i te muka,

ā, ka ngākau nui te mahi a ōna ringa.

14 Ko tōna rite kei ngā kaipuke o ngā kaihokohoko;

e mauria mai ana e ia tāna kai i tawhiti.

15 E maranga ana hoki ia i te mea e tonu ana,

ā, hoatu ana e ia he kai tōna whare,

he mahi hoki e rite ana āna kōtiro.

16 E whakaaroaro ana ia ki tētahi māra, ā, ka hokona e ia;

whakatōkia ana e ia he māra wāina, he hua ōna ringa.

e mea ana i ōna tākakau kia pakari.

18 Ka kite ia he pai tāna i hokohoko ai;

20 Ka wherahia tōna ringa ki te ware;

21 E kore ia e wehi i te hukarere tōna whare;

22 Oti ake i a ia te whatuwhatu he whāriki mōna;

he rīnena pai, he pāpura ōna kākahu.

23 E mōhiotia ana tāna tāne i ngā kūwaha,

24 E hangā ana e ia he rīnena pai, ā, hokona atu ana;

e hoatu ana e ia he whītiki ki ngā kaihoko.

25 He kaha, he hōnore ōna kākahu;

ā, e kata ana ia ki ngā ō muri atu.

26 He nui ōna whakaaro ina puaki tōna māngai;

kei tōna arero te ture o te atawhai.

27 Ka āta tirohia e ia ngā ara o tōna whare,

e kore anō ia e kai i te taro o te māngere.

28 Ka whakatika āna tamariki, ā, he kupu manaaki rātou mōna;

tāna tāne hoki, ka whakamoemiti anō ia ki a ia, ka mea:

29 "He tokomaha ngā tamāhine i ū te pai o rātou mahi,

otiia, hira ake tāu i ā rātou katoa."

30 He mea teka noa te manako, he mea horihori te ātaahua;

tēnā ko te wahine e wehi ana i a Ihowā, ko ia e whakamoemititia.

31 Hoatu ki a ia o ngā hua o ōna ringa;

ā, āna mahi ia e whakamoemiti i ngā kūwaha.

1 The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him.

2 What, my son? and what, O son of my womb?

And what, O son of my vows?

3 Give not thy strength unto women,

Nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine;

Nor for princes to say, Where is strong drink?

5 Lest they drink, and forget the law,

And pervert the justice due to any that is afflicted.

6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish,

And wine unto the bitter in soul:

7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty,

And remember his misery no more.

8 Open thy mouth for the dumb,

In the cause of all such as are left desolate.

9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously,

And minister justice to the poor and needy.

10 A worthy woman who can find?

For her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband trusteth in her,

And he shall have no lack of gain.

12 She doeth him good and not evil

All the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool and flax,

And worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchant-ships;

She bringeth her bread from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night,

And giveth food to her household,

And their task to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it;

With the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength,

And maketh strong her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is profitable;

Her lamp goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the distaff,

And her hands hold the spindle.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;

Yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household;

For all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh for herself carpets of tapestry;

Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates,

When he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh linen garments and selleth them,

And delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and dignity are her clothing;

And she laugheth at the time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom;

And the law of kindness is on her tongue.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household,

And eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up, and call her blessed;

Her husband also, and he praiseth her, saying:

29 Many daughters have done worthily,

But thou excellest them all.

30 Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain;

But a woman that feareth Jehovah, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands;

And let her works praise her in the gates.
