1 Detta ord kom till Jeremia från Herren. Han sade: 2 "Så säger Herren, Israels Gud: Skriv upp i en bokrulle alla de ord som jag har talat till dig. 3 *Jer 29:14, Hes 16:53, 20:42. För se, dagar ska komma, säger Herren, då jag gör slut på fångenskapen för mitt folk Israel och Juda, säger Herren. Jag ska låta dem komma tillbaka till det land som jag gav deras fäder. Och de ska ta det i besittning."

4 Detta är vad Herren har talat om Israel och Juda.

5 Så säger Herren:

Rop av förfäran har vi hört,

fruktan och ingen frid.

6 *Jes 13:8, Jer 4:31, 6:24. Fråga och tänk:

Brukar män föda barn?

Varför ser jag då alla män

med händerna på höfterna

som kvinnor i barnsnöd?

Varför har alla ansikten

blivit så dödsbleka?

7 *Dan 12:1, Joel 2:11, Amos 5:18, Sef 1:18. Ve! Detta är en stor dag,

den liknar ingen annan.

Det är en tid av nöd för Jakob,

men han ska bli räddad ur den.

8 *Jes 10:27, Hes 34:27, Nah 1:13. Och det ska ske på den dagen,

säger Herren Sebaot,

att jag ska ta oket från din nacke

och bryta sönder det

och slita av dina band.

Inga främlingar ska längre

tvinga honom att tjäna dem,

9 *Jes 55:3, Hes 34:23, 37:24, Hos 3:5, Luk 1:69. utan de ska tjäna Herren sin Gud

och David sin kung,

10 *Jes 41:13f, 43:5, 44:2, Jer 46:27f. Så var inte rädd,

min tjänare Jakob, säger Herren,

och var inte förskräckt, Israel.

För jag ska rädda dig

ur landet i fjärran

och dina efterkommande ur landet

där de är fångna.

Jakob ska komma tillbaka

och leva i fred och trygghet,

och ingen ska skrämma honom.

11 *Jes 41:10, Jer 5:18, 46:28. För jag är med dig, säger Herren,

för att rädda dig.

Jag ska göra slut på alla de folk

bland vilka jag spritt ut dig.

Men dig ska jag inte göra slut på,

bara tukta dig med rättvisa,

för helt ostraffad

kan jag inte lämna dig.

12 *Jer 10:19, 14:17, 15:18, Klag 2:13, Mika 1:9. För så säger Herren:

Obotlig är din skada,

oläkligt ditt sår.

13 *Jes 1:6, Jer 14:19, 46:11. Ingen tar sig an din sak

för att se om ditt sår.

Det finns inga läkemedel

och ingen läkedom för dig.

14 Alla dina älskare har glömt dig,

de frågar inte efter dig,

för jag har slagit dig

med en fiendes slag.

Jag har tuktat dig hårt,

för din skuld är stor

och dina synder många.

15 Varför ropar du över din skada?

Obotlig är din plåga.

Därför att din skuld är stor

och dina synder många

har jag gjort dig detta.

16 *Jes 33:1, Jer 2:3, 10:25. Men nu ska alla som ätit av dig

bli uppätna,

och alla dina motståndare

ska allihop gå i fångenskap.

De som har skövlat dig

ska bli skövlade,

och alla som har plundrat dig

ska jag lämna till plundring.

17 *Jer 8:22, 33:6, 24. För jag ska låta dig bli frisk

och läka dina sår, säger Herren,

dig som man kallar

"den fördrivna",

"Sion som ingen frågar efter".

18 *Jer 29:14, 31:38. Så säger Herren:

Se, jag ska göra slut

på fångenskapen

för Jakobs hyddor

och förbarma mig

över hans boningar.

Staden ska åter byggas upp

på sin höjd,

och palatset ska stå

på sin rätta plats.

19 *Jes 51:3. Från dem ska höras lovsång

och rop från glada människor.

Jag ska föröka dem,

och de ska inte bli färre.

Jag ska ära dem,

och de ska inte vara obetydliga.

20 Hans söner ska bli som förr,

hans församling ska bestå

inför mig,

och jag ska straffa alla

som förtrycker honom.

21 *1 Mos 49:10, Sak 10:4. Hans ledare ska vara

en av hans egna,

hans härskare ska utgå

från hans mitt.

Jag ska låta honom komma nära

och närma sig mig –

för vem skulle annars våga sitt liv*30:21skulle annars våga sitt livAnnan översättning: "kommer att viga sitt liv".

genom att närma sig mig?

säger Herren.

22 *Jer 24:7, 31:1, 33, 32:38. Och ni ska vara mitt folk,

och jag ska vara er Gud.

23 *Jer 23:19f. Se, Herrens stormvind bryter fram,

full av vrede, en härjande storm!

Den virvlar ner

över de ogudaktigas huvuden.

24 Herrens brinnande vrede

ska inte vända åter

förrän han har utfört,

förrän han har fullbordat

sitt hjärtas tankar.

ska ni förstå det.
