1 Então respondeu Bildade suíta:2 Até quando andareis à caça de palavras? Entendei, e depois falaremos.3 Por que somos reputados por animais, E feitos imundos aos vossos olhos?4 Tu que te despedaças na tua ira, Acaso por amor de ti será abandonada a terra? Ou será a penha removida do seu lugar?5 Na verdade a luz do iníquo se apagará, E não resplandecerá a chama do seu fogo.6 A luz se obscurecerá na sua tenda, E a lâmpada que está por cima dele se apagará.7 Estreitar-se-ão os passos do seu poder, E o seu conselho o derribará.8 Pois pelos seus próprios pés é lançado na rede, E anda sobre as malhas.9 O alçapé o apanha pelo calcanhar, E o laço o prende.10 A corda está-lhe escondida na terra, E a armadilha na vereda.11 De todos os lados o amedrontam terrores, E de perto perseguem-lhe os pés.12 O seu vigor será consumido pela fome, E a calamidade estará pronta ao seu lado.13 Serão devorados os membros do seu corpo; O primogênito da morte devorará os seus membros.14 Será arrancado da sua tenda em que confia, Será levado ao rei dos terrores.15 Na sua tenda habitarão os que não lhe pertencem, Espalhar-se-á enxofre sobre a sua habitação.16 Por baixo as suas raízes secarão, E por cima murcharão os seus ramos.17 A sua memória perecerá do país, E o seu nome não ficará sobre a face da terra.18 Será lançado da luz para as trevas, E afugentado do mundo.19 Não terá nem filho nem neto entre o seu povo, Nem alguém que fique onde ele peregrinava.20 Os do ocidente pasmam do dia dele, Assim como se espantam os do oriente.21 Na verdade tais são as moradas do ímpio, E este é o paradeiro daquele que não conhece a Deus.

His own schemes will bring his downfall.8 »His feet cast him into a net and he wanders into its mesh.9 »A trap seizes him by the heel and a snare holds him fast.10 »A noose is hidden for him on the ground and a trap lies in his path.11 »Terrors startle him on every side and chase him at his heels.12 »Calamity hungers for him and disaster catch him when he falls.13 »It eats away parts of his skin. Deaths firstborn devours his limbs.14 »He is torn from the security of his tent and marched off to the king of terrors.15 »Fire resides in his tent; burning sulfur is scattered over his dwelling.16 »His roots dry up below and his branches wither above.17 »The memory of him perishes from the earth. He has no name in the street.18 »He is driven from light into darkness and is banished from the world.19 »He has no offspring or descendants among his people, no survivor where once he lived.20 »Men of the west are appalled at him. Men of the east are seized with horror.21 »This is the dwelling of an evil man! This is the place of one who does not know God!«
