1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,

2 "How long will you hunt for words?

Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

3 Why are we counted as animals,

which have become unclean in your sight?

4 You who tear yourself in your anger,

will the earth be forsaken for you?

Or will the rock be removed out of its place?

5 "Yes, the light of the wicked will be put out.

The spark of his fire won’t shine.

6 The light will be dark in his tent.

His lamp above him will be put out.

7 The steps of his strength will be shortened.

His own counsel will cast him down.

8 For he is cast into a net by his own feet,

and he wanders into its mesh.

9 A snare will take him by the heel.

A trap will catch him.

10 A noose is hidden for him in the ground,

a trap for him on the path.

11 Terrors will make him afraid on every side,

and will chase him at his heels.

12 His strength will be famished.

Calamity will be ready at his side.

13 The members of his body will be devoured.

The firstborn of death will devour his members.

14 He will be rooted out of the security of his tent.

He will be brought to the king of terrors.

15 There will dwell in his tent that which is none of his.

Sulfur will be scattered on his habitation.

16 His roots will be dried up beneath.

His branch will be cut off above.

17 His memory will perish from the earth.

He will have no name in the street.

18 He will be driven from light into darkness,

and chased out of the world.

19 He will have neither son nor grandson among his people,

nor any remaining where he lived.

20 Those who come after will be astonished at his day,

as those who went before were frightened.

21 Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous.

This is the place of him who doesn’t know God."

Bildads andra tal

1 Då tog Bildad från Shua till orda och sade:

2 *Ords 17:27. Hur länge ska ni lägga snaror

med ord?

Kom till förstånd,

sedan kan vi tala.

3 Varför räknas vi som djur

och betraktas som dumma

i era ögon?

4 Du som sliter sönder

dig själv i vrede,

ska jorden bli öde för din skull

eller klippan flyttas från sin plats?

5 *Job 21:17, Ords 13:9, 24:20. Sannerligen,

den gudlöses ljus ska slockna

och lågan i hans eld sluta lysa.

6 Ljuset i hans tält ska bli mörkt

och lampan slockna för honom.

7 *Job 15:6, Ords 5:22. Hans väldiga steg ska bli kortare,

hans egna rådslag fälla honom.

8 *Ps 9:16, 35:7f, Jes 24:18. Hans fötter leder honom till nätet,

han vandrar mot snaran.

9 *Job 22:10. Snaran griper hans häl,

fällan håller fast honom.

10 Ett rep är lagt för honom

på marken,

en fälla ligger på stigen.

11 *3 Mos 26:36, Job 15:21f, 27:20, Jer 46:5. Skräck möter honom från alla håll

och jagar honom i hälarna.

12 Olyckan hungrar efter honom,

hemsökelsen står redo

att fälla honom.

13 Sjukdom förtär hans hud,

dödens förstfödde

slukar hans lemmar.

14 *Job 8:13f, 22, 11:20, Ps 52:7, Ords 10:28. Han rycks bort från sitt trygga tält

och drivs i väg till fasornas kung.

15 I hans tält får främlingar bo,

svavel strös över hans boning.

16 *Job 14:2, Amos 2:9, Mal 4:1. Hans rötter torkar nertill,

hans grenar vissnar upptill.

17 *Job 24:20, Ps 9:7, 34:17, Ords 10:7. Hans minne utplånas från jorden,

hans namn nämns inte

på vägarna.

18 Han drivs från ljuset till mörkret

och jagas bort från världen.

19 *2 Kung 10:11, 17, Job 27:14, Ps 21:11. Han blir utan barn

och efterkommande i sitt folk,

ingen överlevande finns

i hans hus.

20 *Hes 21:25. De som bor i väst

häpnar över hans olyckas dag,

de som bor i öst

skälver av fasa.

21 *Job 20:29. Ja, så går det den orättfärdiges hem,

så går det den plats

där man inte känner Gud.
