Jó 5

 
1 ¶ Chama agora; há alguém que te responda? E para qual dos santos te virarás? Call now; is there any that will answer thee? And to which of the holy ones wilt thou turn?
2 Porque a ira destrói o louco; e o zelo mata o tolo. For vexation killeth the foolish man, And jealousy slayeth the silly one.
3 Bem vi eu o louco lançar raízes; porém logo amaldiçoei a sua habitação. I have seen the foolish taking root: But suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4 Seus filhos estão longe da salvação; e são despedaçados às portas, e não há quem os livre. His children are far from safety, And they are crushed in the gate, Neither is there any to deliver them:
5 A sua messe, o faminto a devora, e até dentre os espinhos a tira; e o salteador traga a sua fazenda. Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, And taketh it even out of the thorns; And the snare gapeth for their substance.
6 ¶ Porque do pó não procede a aflição, nem da terra brota o trabalho. For affliction cometh not forth from the dust, Neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
7 Mas o homem nasce para a tribulação, como as faíscas se levantam para voar. But man is born unto trouble, As the sparks fly upward.
8 Porém eu buscaria a Deus; e a ele entregaria a minha causa. But as for me, I would seek unto God, And unto God would I commit my cause;
9 Ele faz coisas grandes e inescrutáveis, e maravilhas sem número. Who doeth great things and unsearchable, Marvellous things without number:
10 Ele dá a chuva sobre a terra, e envia águas sobre os campos. Who giveth rain upon the earth, And sendeth waters upon the fields;
11 Para pôr aos abatidos num lugar alto; e para que os enlutados se exaltem na salvação. So that he setteth up on high those that are low, And those that mourn are exalted to safety.
12 Ele aniquila as imaginações dos astutos, para que as suas mãos não possam levar coisa alguma a efeito. He frustrateth the devices of the crafty, So that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
13 Ele apanha os sábios na sua própria astúcia; e o conselho dos perversos se precipita. He taketh the wise in their own craftiness; And the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.
14 Eles de dia encontram as trevas; e ao meio dia andam às apalpadelas como de noite. They meet with darkness in the day-time, And grope at noonday as in the night.
15 Porém ao necessitado livra da espada, e da boca deles, e da mão do forte. But he saveth from the sword of their mouth, Even the needy from the hand of the mighty.
16 Assim há esperança para o pobre; e a iniqüidade tapa a sua boca. So the poor hath hope, And iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
17 ¶ Eis que bem-aventurado é o homem a quem Deus repreende; não desprezes, pois, a correção do Todo-Poderoso. Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: Therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
18 Porque ele faz a chaga, e ele mesmo a liga; ele fere, e as suas mãos curam. For he maketh sore, and bindeth up; He woundeth, and his hands make whole.
19 Em seis angústias te livrará; e na sétima o mal não te tocará. He will deliver thee in six troubles; Yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20 Na fome te livrará da morte; e na guerra, da violência da espada. In famine he will redeem thee from death; And in war from the power of the sword.
21 Do açoite da língua estarás encoberto; e não temerás a assolação, quando vier. Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue; Neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22 Da assolação e da fome te rirás, e os animais da terra não temerás. At destruction and dearth thou shalt laugh; Neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23 Porque até com as pedras do campo terás o teu acordo, e as feras do campo serão pacíficas contigo. For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; And the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24 E saberás que a tua tenda está em paz; e visitarás a tua habitação, e não pecarás. And thou shalt know that thy tent is in peace; And thou shalt visit thy fold, and shalt miss nothing.
25 Também saberás que se multiplicará a tua descendência e a tua posteridade como a erva da terra, Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, And thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
26 Na velhice irás à sepultura, como se recolhe o feixe de trigo a seu tempo. Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, Like as a shock of grain cometh in in its season.
27 Eis que isto já o havemos inquirido, e assim é; ouve-o, e medita nisso para teu bem. Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; Hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
