1 Femeia înţeleaptă îşi zideşte casa, iar femeia nebună o dărîmă cu înseşi mînile ei. -2 Cine umblă cu neprihănire, se teme de Domnul, dar cine apucă pe căi strîmbe, Îl nesocoteşte. -3 În gura nebunului este o nuia pentru mîndria lui, dar pe înţelepţi îi păzesc buzele lor. -4 Unde nu sînt boi, ieslea rămîne goală, dar puterea boilor aduce belşug de roduri. -5 Un martor credincios nu minte, dar un martor mincinos spune minciuni.6 Batjocoritorul caută înţelepciunea şi n'o găseşte, dar pentru omul priceput ştiinţa este lucru uşor. -7 Depărtează-te de nebun, căci nu pe buzele lui vei găsi ştiinţa. -8 Înţelepciunea omului chibzuit îl face să vadă pe ce cale să meargă, dar nebunia celor nesocotiţi îi înşală pe ei înşişi. -9 Cei nesocotiţi glumesc cu păcatul, dar între cei fără prihană este bunăvoinţă. -10 Inima îşi cunoaşte necazurile, şi nici un străin nu se poate amesteca în bucuria ei. -11 Casa celor răi va fi nimicită, dar cortul celor fără prihană va înflori. -12 Multe căi pot părea bune omului, dar la urmă se văd că duc la moarte. -13 De multe ori chiar în mijlocul rîsului inima poate fi mîhnită, şi bucuria poate sfîrşi prin necaz. -14 Cel cu inima rătăcită se satură de căile lui, şi omul de bine se satură şi el de ce este în el. -15 Omul lesne crezător crede orice vorbă, dar omul chibzuit ia seama bine cum merge. -16 Înţeleptul se teme şi se abate dela rău, dar nesocotitul este îngîmfat şi fără frică. -17 Cine este iute la mînie face prostii, şi omul plin de răutate se face urît. -18 Cei proşti au parte de nebunie, dar oamenii chibzuiţi sînt încununaţi cu ştiinţă. -19 Cei răi se pleacă înaintea celor buni, şi cei nelegiuiţi înaintea porţilor celui neprihănit. -20 Săracul este urît chiar şi de prietenul său, dar bogatul are foarte mulţi prieteni. -21 Cine dispreţuieşte pe aproapele său face un păcat, dar ferice de cine are milă de cei nenorociţi. -22 În adevăr ceice gîndesc răul se rătăcesc. dar ceice gîndesc binele lucrează cu bunătate şi credincioşie.23 Oriunde se munceşte este şi cîştig, dar oriunde numai se vorbeşte, este lipsă. -24 Bogăţia este o cunună pentru cei înţelepţi, dar cei nesocotiţi n'au altceva decît nebunie. -25 Martorul care spune adevărul scapă suflete, dar cel înşelător spune minciuni. -26 Cine se teme de Domnul are un sprijin tare în El, şi copiii lui au un loc de adăpost la El. -27 Frica de Domnul este un izvor de viaţă, ea ne fereşte de cursele morţii. -28 Mulţimea poporului este slava împăratului, lipsa poporului este pieirea voivodului. -29 Cine este încet la mînie are multă pricepere, dar cine se aprinde iute, face multe prostii. -30 O inimă liniştită este viaţa trupului, dar prizma este putrezirea oaselor. -31 Cine asupreşte pe sărac, batjocoreşte pe Ziditorul său, dar cine are milă de cel lipsit, cinsteşte pe Ziditorul său. -32 Cel rău este doborît de răutatea lui, dar cel neprihănit chiar şi la moarte trage nădejde. -33 Înţelepciunea se odihneşte într'o inimă pricepută, dar în mijlocul celor nesocotiţi ea se dă de gol. -34 Neprihănirea înalţă pe un popor, dar păcatul este ruşinea popoarelor. -35 Un împărat are plăcere de un slujitor chibzuit, dar pe cel de ocară, îl atinge mînia lui.

1 Every wise woman hath builded her house, And the foolish with her hands breaketh it down.2 Whoso is walking in his uprightness is fearing Jehovah, And the perverted [in] his ways is despising Him.3 In the mouth of a fool [is] a rod of pride, And the lips of the wise preserve them.4 Without oxen a stall [is] clean, And great [is] the increase by the power of the ox.5 A faithful witness lieth not, And a false witness breatheth out lies.6 A scorner hath sought wisdom, and it is not, And knowledge to the intelligent [is] easy.7 Go from before a foolish man, Or thou hast not known the lips of knowledge.8 The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way, And the folly of fools [is] deceit.9 Fools mock at a guilt-offering, And among the upright -- a pleasing thing.10 The heart knoweth its own bitterness, And with its joy a stranger doth not intermeddle.11 The house of the wicked is destroyed, And the tent of the upright flourisheth.12 There is a way -- right before a man, And its latter end [are] ways of death.13 Even in laughter is the heart pained, And the latter end of joy [is] affliction.14 From his ways is the backslider in heart filled, And a good man -- from his fruits.15 The simple giveth credence to everything, And the prudent attendeth to his step.16 The wise is fearing and turning from evil, And a fool is transgressing and is confident.17 Whoso is short of temper doth folly, And a man of wicked devices is hated.18 The simple have inherited folly, And the prudent are crowned [with] knowledge.19 The evil have bowed down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.20 Even of his neighbour is the poor hated, And those loving the rich [are] many.21 Whoso is despising his neighbour sinneth, Whoso is favouring the humble, O his happiness.22 Do not they err who are devising evil? And kindness and truth [are] to those devising good,23 In all labour there is advantage, And a thing of the lips [is] only to want.24 The crown of the wise is their wealth, The folly of fools [is] folly.25 A true witness is delivering souls, And a deceitful one breatheth out lies.26 In the fear of Jehovah [is] strong confidence, And to His sons there is a refuge.27 The fear of Jehovah [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.28 In the multitude of a people [is] the honour of a king, And in lack of people the ruin of a prince.29 Whoso is slow to anger [is] of great understanding, And whoso is short in temper is exalting folly.30 A healed heart [is] life to the flesh, And rottenness to the bones [is] envy.31 An oppressor of the poor reproacheth his Maker, And whoso is honouring Him Is favouring the needy.32 In his wickedness is the wicked driven away, And trustful in his death [is] the righteous.33 In the heart of the intelligent wisdom doth rest. And in the midst of fools it is known.34 Righteousness exalteth a nation, And the goodliness of peoples [is] a sin-offering.35 The favour of a king [is] to a wise servant, And an object of his wrath is one causing shame!
