1 And it came to pass, as the crowd pressed on him to hear the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret: 2 and he saw two ships standing by the lake, but the fishermen, having come down from them, were washing their nets. 3 And getting into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, he asked him to draw out a little from the land; and he sat down and taught the crowds out of the ship. 4 But when he ceased speaking, he said to Simon, Draw out into the deep water and let down your nets for a haul. 5 And Simon answering said to him, Master, having laboured through the whole night we have taken nothing, but at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And having done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes. And their net broke. 7 And they beckoned to their partners who were in the other ship to come and help them, and they came, and filled both the ships, so that they were sinking. 8 But Simon Peter, seeing it, fell at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord. 9 For astonishment had laid hold on him, and on all those who were with him, at the haul of fishes which they had taken; 10 and in like manner also on James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not; henceforth thou shalt be catching men. 11 And having run the ships on shore, leaving all they followed him.

12 And it came to pass as he was in one of the cities, that behold, there was a man full of leprosy, and seeing Jesus, falling upon his face, he besought him saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou art able to cleanse me. 13 And stretching forth his hand he touched him, saying, I will; be thou cleansed: and immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14 And he enjoined him to tell no one; but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing as Moses ordained, for a testimony to them. 15 But the report concerning him was spread abroad still more, and great crowds came together to hear, and to be healed from their infirmities. 16 And he withdrew himself, and was about in the desert places and praying.

17 And it came to pass on one of the days, that he was teaching, and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and out of Jerusalem; and the Lord’s power was there to heal them. 18 And lo, men bringing upon a couch a man who was paralysed; and they sought to bring him in, and put him before him. 19 And not finding what way to bring him in, on account of the crowd, going up on the housetop they let him down through the tiles, with his little couch, into the midst before Jesus. 20 And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason in their minds, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who is able to forgive sins but God alone? 22 But Jesus, knowing their reasonings, answering said to them, Why reason ye in your hearts? 23 which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? 24 But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, he said to the paralysed man, I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy little couch and go to thine house. 25 And immediately standing up before them, having taken up that whereon he was laid, he departed to his house, glorifying God. 26 And astonishment seized all, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.

27 And after these things he went forth and saw a tax-gatherer, Levi by name, sitting at the receipt of taxes, and said to him, Follow me. 28 And having left all, rising up, he followed him. 29 And Levi made a great entertainment for him in his house, and there was a great crowd of tax-gatherers and others who were at table with them. 30 And their scribes and the Pharisees murmured at his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with tax-gatherers and sinners? 31 And Jesus answering said to them, They that are in sound health have not need of a physician, but those that are ill. 32 I am not come to call righteous persons, but sinful ones to repentance. 33 And they said to him, Why do the disciples of John fast often and make supplications, in like manner those also of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink? 34 And he said to them, Can ye make the sons of the bridechamber fast when the bridegroom is with them? 35 But days will come when also the bridegroom will have been taken away from them; then shall they fast in those days. 36 And he spoke also a parable to them: No one puts a piece of a new garment upon an old garment, otherwise he will both rend the new, and the piece which is from the new will not suit with the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old skins, otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be poured out, and the skins will be destroyed; 38 but new wine is to be put into new skins, and both are preserved. 39 And no one having drunk old wine straightway wishes for new, for he says, The old is better.

1 Pe când*Mat. 4:18.Marcu 1:16. Se afla lângă lacul Ghenezaret și Îl îmbulzea norodul ca să audă Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, 2 Isus a văzut două corăbii la marginea lacului; pescarii ieșiseră din ele să-și spele mrejele. 3 S-a suit într-una din aceste corăbii, care era a lui Simon, și l-a rugat s-o depărteze puțin de la țărm. Apoi, a șezut jos și învăța pe noroade din corabie. 4 Când a încetat să vorbească, a zis lui Simon: „Depărteaz-o*Ioan 21:6.la adânc și aruncați-vă mrejele pentru pescuire."5 Drept răspuns, Simon I-a zis: „Învățătorule, toată noaptea ne-am trudit și n-am prins nimic, dar, la cuvântul Tău, voi arunca mrejele!" 6 După ce le-au aruncat, au prins o așa de mare mulțime de pești că începeau să li se rupă mrejele. 7 Au făcut semn tovarășilor lor, care erau în cealaltă corabie, să vină să le ajute. Aceia au venit și au umplut amândouă corăbiile, așa că au început să se afunde corăbiile. 8 Când a văzut Simon Petru lucrul acesta, s-a aruncat la genunchii lui Isus și I-a zis: „Doamne, pleacă*2 Sam. 6:9.1 Împ. 17:18. de la mine, căci sunt un om păcătos." 9 Fiindcă îl apucase spaima pe el și pe toți cei ce erau cu el din pricina pescuirii pe care o făcuseră. 10 Tot așa și pe Iacov și pe Ioan, fiii lui Zebedei, tovarășii lui Simon. Atunci, Isus a zis lui Simon: „Nu te teme; de acum*Mat. 4:19.Marcu 1:17.încolo vei fi pescar de oameni."11 Ei au scos corăbiile la mal, au lăsat*Mat. 14:20;19:27.Marcu 1:18. Cap. 18:28. totul și au mers după El.

12 Isus*Mat. 8:2.Marcu 1:40. era într-una din cetăți. Și iată că un om plin de lepră, cum L-a văzut, s-a aruncat cu fața la pământ, L-a rugat și I-a zis: „Doamne, dacă vrei, poți să mă curățești." 13 Isus a întins mâna, S-a atins de el și i-a zis: „Da, voiesc, fii curățit!" Îndată l-a lăsat lepra. 14 Apoi*Mat. 8:4., i-a poruncit să nu spună nimănui. „Ci du-te", i-a zis El, „de te arată preotului și adu, pentru curățirea ta, ce*Lev. 14:4,10,21,22.a rânduit Moise, ca mărturie pentru ei."15 Se răspândea tot mai mult vestea despre El, și oamenii se*Mat. 4:25.Marcu 3:7.Ioan 6:2. strângeau cu grămada ca să-L asculte și să fie vindecați de bolile lor. 16 Iar*Mat. 14:23.Marcu 6:46. El Se ducea în locuri pustii și Se ruga.

17 Într-una din zile, Isus învăța pe noroade. Niște farisei și învățători ai Legii, care veniseră din toate satele Galileii și Iudeii și din Ierusalim, stăteau acolo; iar puterea Domnului era cu El, ca să vindece. 18 Și*Mat. 9:2.Marcu 2:3. iată că niște oameni purtau într-un pat pe un slăbănog și căutau să-l ducă înăuntru, ca să-l pună înaintea Lui. 19 Fiindcă n-aveau pe unde să-l ducă înăuntru, din pricina norodului, s-au suit pe acoperișul casei și l-au coborât cu patul printre cărămizi, în mijlocul adunării, înaintea lui Isus. 20 Când le-a văzut credința, Isus a zis: „Omule, păcatele îți sunt iertate!"21 Cărturarii și fariseii au*Mat. 9:3.Marcu 2:6,7. început să cârtească și să zică în ei înșiși: „Cine*Ps. 32:5.Is. 43:25. este acesta de rostește hule? Cine poate să ierte păcatele decât singur Dumnezeu?" 22 Isus, care le-a cunoscut gândurile, a luat cuvântul și le-a zis: „Pentru ce cârtiți în inimile voastre?23 Ce este mai lesne: a zice: ‘Păcatele îți sunt iertate’ sau a zice: ‘Scoală-te și umblă’?24 Dar, ca să știți că Fiul omului are putere pe pământ să ierte păcatele, ție îți poruncesc", a zis El slăbănogului, „scoală-te, ridică-ți patul și du-te acasă."25 Și numaidecât, slăbănogul s-a sculat în fața lor, a ridicat patul pe care zăcea și s-a dus acasă, slăvind pe Dumnezeu. 26 Toți au rămas uimiți și slăveau pe Dumnezeu; plini de frică ziceau: „Azi am văzut lucruri nemaipomenite."

27 După*Mat. 9:9.Marcu 2:13,14. aceea, Isus a ieșit afară și a văzut pe un vameș, numit Levi, șezând la vamă. Și i-a zis: „Vino după Mine!"28 Vameșul a lăsat totul, s-a sculat și a mers după El. 29 Levi I-a făcut*Mat. 9:10.Marcu 2:15. Cap. 15:1. un ospăț mare la el în casă; și o mulțime de vameși și de alți oaspeți ședeau la masă cu ei. 30 Fariseii și cărturarii cârteau și ziceau ucenicilor Lui: „Pentru ce mâncați și beți împreună cu vameșii și cu păcătoșii?" 31 Isus a luat cuvântul și le-a zis: „Nu cei sănătoși au trebuință de doctor, ci cei bolnavi.32 N-am*Mat. 9:13.1 Tim. 1:15.venit să chem la pocăință pe cei neprihăniți, ci pe cei păcătoși."

33 Ei I-au zis: „Ucenicii*Mat. 9:14.Marcu 2:18. lui Ioan, ca și ai fariseilor, postesc des și fac rugăciuni, pe când ai Tăi mănâncă și beau." 34 El le-a răspuns: „Oare puteți face pe nuntași să postească în timpul când mirele este cu ei?35 Vor veni zile când va fi luat mirele de la ei; atunci vor posti în acele zile."36 Le-a spus*Mat. 9:16,17.Marcu 2:21,22. și o pildă: „Nimeni nu rupe dintr-o haină nouă un petic ca să-l pună la o haină veche; altminteri, rupe și haina cea nouă și nici peticul luat de la ea nu se potrivește la cea veche.37 Și nimeni nu pune vin nou în burdufuri vechi; altminteri, vinul cel nou sparge burdufurile, se varsă, și burdufurile se prăpădesc;38 ci vinul nou trebuie pus în burdufuri noi și amândouă se păstrează.39 Și nimeni, după ce a băut vin vechi, nu voiește vin nou, căci zice: ‘Este mai bun cel vechi.’"
