1 And it came to pass on the second-first sabbath, that he went through cornfields, and his disciples were plucking the ears and eating them, rubbing them in their hands. 2 But some of the Pharisees said to them, Why do ye what is not lawful to do on the sabbath? 3 And Jesus answering said to them, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did when he hungered, he and those who were with him, 4 how he entered into the house of God and took the shewbread and ate, and gave to those also who were with him, which it is not lawful that any eat, unless the priests alone? 5 And he said to them, The Son of man is Lord of the sabbath also. 6 And it came to pass on another sabbath also that he entered into the synagogue and taught; and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and the Pharisees were watching if he would heal on the sabbath, that they might find something of which to accuse him. 8 But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, Get up, and stand in the midst. And having risen up he stood there. 9 Jesus therefore said to them, I will ask you if it is lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? 10 And having looked around on them all, he said to him, Stretch out thy hand. And he did so and his hand was restored as the other. 11 But they were filled with madness, and they spoke together among themselves what they should do to Jesus.

12 And it came to pass in those days that he went out into the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day he called his disciples, and having chosen out twelve from them, whom also he named apostles: 14 Simon, to whom also he gave the name of Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew, 15 and Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon who was called Zealot, 16 and Judas brother of James, and Judas Iscariote, who was also his betrayer; 17 and having descended with them, he stood on a level place, and a crowd of his disciples, and a great multitude of the people from all Judaea and Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; 18 and those that were beset by unclean spirits were healed. 19 And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power went out from him and healed all.

20 And he, lifting up his eyes upon his disciples, said, Blessed are ye poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. 21 Blessed ye that hunger now, for ye shall be filled. Blessed ye that weep now, for ye shall laugh. 22 Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from them, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as wicked, for the Son of man’s sake: 23 rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in the heaven, for after this manner did their fathers act toward the prophets. 24 But woe to you rich, for ye have received your consolation. 25 Woe to you that are filled, for ye shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for ye shall mourn and weep. 26 Woe, when all men speak well of you, for after this manner did their fathers to the false prophets.

27 But to you that hear I say, Love your enemies; do good to those that hate you; 28 bless those that curse you; pray for those who use you despitefully. 29 To him that smites thee on the cheek, offer also the other; and from him that would take away thy garment, forbid not thy body-coat also. 30 To every one that asks of thee, give; and from him that takes away what is thine, ask it not back. 31 And as ye wish that men should do to you, do ye also to them in like manner. 32 And if ye love those that love you, what thank is it to you? for even sinners love those that love them. 33 And if ye do good to those that do good to you, what thank is it to you? for even sinners do the same. 34 And if ye lend to those from whom ye hope to receive, what thank is it to you? for even sinners lend to sinners that they may receive the like. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Highest; for he is good to the unthankful and wicked. 36 Be ye therefore merciful, even as your Father also is merciful.

37 And judge not, and ye shall not be judged; condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned. Remit, and it shall be remitted to you. 38 Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom: for with the same measure with which ye mete it shall be measured to you again. 39 And he spoke also a parable to them: Can a blind man lead a blind man? shall not both fall into the ditch? 40 The disciple is not above his teacher, but every one that is perfected shall be as his teacher. 41 But why lookest thou on the mote which is in the eye of thy brother, but perceivest not the beam which is in thine own eye? 42 or how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, allow me, I will cast out the mote that is in thine eye, thyself not seeing the beam that is in thine eye? Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou shalt see clear to cast out the mote which is in the eye of thy brother. 43 For there is no good tree which produces corrupt fruit, nor a corrupt tree which produces good fruit; 44 for every tree is known by its own fruit, for figs are not gathered from thorns, nor grapes vintaged from a bramble. 45 The good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, brings forth good; and the wicked man out of the wicked, brings forth what is wicked: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. 46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say? 47 Every one that comes to me, and hears my words and does them, I will shew you to whom he is like. 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock; but a great rain coming, the stream broke upon that house, and could not shake it, for it had been founded on the rock. 49 And he that has heard and not done, is like a man who has built a house on the ground without a foundation, on which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the breach of that house was great.

Ucenicii Lui smulgeau spice de grâu, le frecau cu mâinile și le mâncau. 2 Unii dintre farisei le-au zis: „Pentru ce faceți ce*Exod 20:10. nu este îngăduit să faceți în ziua Sabatului?" 3 Isus le-a răspuns: „Oare n-ați citit ce*1 Sam. 21:6.a făcut David când a flămânzit, el și cei ce erau împreună cu el?4 Cum a intrat în Casa lui Dumnezeu, a luat pâinile pentru punerea înaintea Domnului, a mâncat din ele și a dat și celor ce erau cu el, măcar că*Lev. 24:9.nu era îngăduit să le mănânce decât preoții?"5 Și le zicea: „Fiul omului este Domn chiar și al Sabatului."

6 În*Mat. 12:9.Marcu 3:1. Cap. 13:14;14:3.Ioan 9:16. altă zi de Sabat, s-a întâmplat că Isus a intrat în sinagogă și învăța pe norod. Acolo era un om care avea mâna dreaptă uscată. 7 Cărturarii și fariseii pândeau pe Isus, să vadă dacă-l va vindeca în ziua Sabatului, ca să aibă de ce să-L învinuiască. 8 Dar El le știa gândurile și a zis omului care avea mâna uscată: „Scoală-te și stai în mijloc!" El s-a sculat și a stat în picioare. 9 Și Isus le-a zis: „Vă întreb: Este îngăduit în ziua Sabatului a face bine ori a face rău? A scăpa o viață sau a o pierde?"10 Atunci, Și-a rotit privirile peste toți și a zis omului: „Întinde-ți mâna!" El a întins-o, și mâna i s-a făcut sănătoasă ca și cealaltă. 11 Ei turbau de mânie și s-au sfătuit ce ar putea să facă lui Isus.

12 În*Mat. 14:23. zilele acelea, Isus S-a dus în munte să Se roage și a petrecut toată noaptea în rugăciune către Dumnezeu. 13 Când s-a făcut ziuă, a chemat pe ucenicii Săi și*Mat. 10:1. a ales dintre ei doisprezece pe care i-a numit apostoli, și anume: 14 pe Simon, pe*Ioan 1:42. care l-a numit și Petru, pe Andrei, fratele lui, pe Iacov, pe Ioan, pe Filip, pe Bartolomeu, 15 pe Matei, pe Toma, pe Iacov, fiul lui Alfeu, pe Simon, numit Zelotul, 16 pe Iuda, fiul*Iuda 1. lui Iacov, și pe Iuda Iscarioteanul, care s-a făcut vânzător.

17 S-a coborât împreună cu ei și S-a oprit într-un podiș, unde se aflau mulți ucenici de-ai Lui și*Mat. 4:25.Marcu 3:7. o mare mulțime de oameni, care veniseră din toată Iudeea, din Ierusalim și de pe lângă marea Tirului și a Sidonului, ca să-L asculte și să fie vindecați de bolile lor. 18 Cei chinuiți de duhuri necurate erau vindecați. 19 Și tot norodul căuta*Mat. 14:36. să se atingă de El, pentru că din El ieșea*Marcu 5:30. Cap. 8:46. o putere care-i vindeca pe toți.

20 Atunci, Isus Și-a ridicat ochii spre ucenicii Săi și a zis:

„Ferice*Mat. 5:3;11:5.Iac. 2:5.de voi care sunteți săraci, pentru că Împărăția lui Dumnezeu este a voastră!

21 Ferice*Is. 55:1;65:13.Mat. 5:6.de voi care sunteți flămânzi acum, pentru că voi veți fi săturați!

Ferice*Is. 61:3.Mat. 5:4.de voi care plângeți acum, pentru că voi veți râde!22 Ferice*Mat. 5:11.1 Pet. 2:19;3:14;4:14.de voi când oamenii vă vor urî, vă*Ioan 16:2.vor izgoni dintre ei, vă vor ocărî și vor lepăda numele vostru ca ceva rău, din pricina Fiului omului!23 Bucurați-vă*Mat. 5:12.Fapte 5:41.Col. 1:24.Iac. 1:2.în ziua aceea și săltați de veselie, pentru că răsplata voastră este mare în cer; căci tot așa*Fapte 7:51.făceau părinții lor cu prorocii.24 Dar*Amos 6:1.Iac. 5:1.vai de voi, bogaților*Cap. 12:21., pentru că voi v-ați*Mat. 6:2,5,16. Cap. 16:25.primit aici mângâierea!

25 Vai*Is. 65:13.de voi care sunteți sătui acum, pentru că voi veți flămânzi!

Vai*Prov. 14:13.de voi care râdeți acum, pentru că voi veți plânge și vă veți tângui!

26 Vai*Ioan 15:19.1 Ioan 4:5.de voi când toți oamenii vă vor grăi de bine! Fiindcă tot așa făceau părinții lor cu prorocii mincinoși!

27 Dar*Exod 23:4.Prov. 25:21.Mat. 5:44. Vers. 35.Rom. 12:20.Eu vă spun vouă, care Mă ascultați: Iubiți pe vrăjmașii voștri, faceți bine celor ce vă urăsc,28 binecuvântați pe cei ce vă blestemă, rugați-vă*Cap. 23:34.Fapte 7:60.pentru cei ce se poartă rău cu voi.29 Dacă*Mat. 5:39.te bate cineva peste o falcă, întoarce-i și pe cealaltă. Dacă*1 Cor. 6:7.îți ia cineva haina cu sila, nu-l opri să-ți ia și cămașa.30 Oricui*Deut. 15:7,8,10.Prov. 21:26.Mat. 5:42.îți cere, dă-i; și celui ce-ți ia cu sila ale tale, nu i le cere înapoi.31 Ce*Mat. 7:12.voiți să vă facă vouă oamenii, faceți-le și voi la fel.32 Dacă*Mat. 5:46.iubiți pe cei ce vă iubesc, ce răsplată vi se cuvine? Și păcătoșii iubesc pe cei ce-i iubesc pe ei.33 Dacă faceți bine celor ce vă fac bine, ce răsplată vi se cuvine? Și păcătoșii fac așa.34 Și*Mat. 5:42.dacă dați cu împrumut acelora de la care nădăjduiți să luați înapoi, ce răsplată vi se cuvine? Și păcătoșii dau cu împrumut păcătoșilor, ca să ia înapoi întocmai.35 Voi însă iubiți*Vers. 27.pe vrăjmașii voștri, faceți bine și dați*Ps. 37:26. Vers. 30.cu împrumut, fără să nădăjduiți ceva în schimb. Și răsplata voastră va fi mare și veți*Mat. 5:45.fi fiii Celui Preaînalt; căci El este bun și cu cei nemulțumitori, și cu cei răi.36 Fiți*Mat. 5:48.dar milostivi, cum și Tatăl vostru este milostiv.

37 Nu*Mat. 7:1.judecați, și nu veți fi judecați; nu osândiți, și nu veți fi osândiți; iertați, și vi se va ierta.38 Dați*Prov. 19:17., și vi se va da; ba încă vi se va turna în sân*Ps. 79:12.o măsură bună, îndesată, clătinată, care se va vărsa pe deasupra. Căci cu*Mat. 7:2.Marcu 4:24.Iac. 2:13.ce măsură veți măsura, cu aceea vi se va măsura."39 Le-a spus și pilda următoare: „Oare*Mat. 15:14.poate un orb să călăuzească pe un alt orb? Nu vor cădea amândoi în groapă?40 Ucenicul nu*Mat. 10:24.Ioan 13:16;15:20.este mai presus de învățătorul lui, dar orice ucenic desăvârșit va fi ca învățătorul lui.41 De*Mat. 7:3.ce vezi tu paiul din ochiul fratelui tău și nu te uiți cu băgare de seamă la bârna din ochiul tău?42 Sau cum poți să zici fratelui tău: ‘Frate, lasă-mă să-ți scot paiul din ochi’ și, când colo, tu nu vezi bârna din ochiul tău? Fățarnicule, scoate*Prov. 18:17.întâi bârna din ochiul tău, și atunci vei vedea deslușit să scoți paiul din ochiul fratelui tău.43 Nu*Mat. 7:16,17.este niciun pom bun care să facă roadă rea și niciun pom rău care să facă roadă bună.44 Căci orice*Mat. 12:33.pom se cunoaște după roada lui. Nu se strâng smochine din spini, nici nu se culeg struguri din mărăcini.45 Omul*Mat. 12:35.bun scoate lucruri bune din vistieria bună a inimii lui, iar omul rău scoate lucruri rele din vistieria rea a inimii lui; căci din*Mat. 12:34.prisosul inimii vorbește gura.

46 De*Mal. 1:6.Mat. 7:21;25:11. Cap. 13:25.ce-Mi ziceți: ‘Doamne, Doamne!’ și nu faceți ce spun Eu?47 Vă voi arăta cu cine se aseamănă orice*Mat. 7:24.om care vine la Mine, aude cuvintele Mele și le face.48 Se aseamănă cu un om care, când a zidit o casă, a săpat adânc înainte și a așezat temelia pe stâncă. A venit o vărsare de ape și s-a năpustit șuvoiul peste casa aceea, dar n-a putut s-o clatine, pentru că era zidită pe stâncă.49 Dar cine aude și nu face se aseamănă cu un om care a zidit o casă pe pământ, fără temelie. Și s-a năpustit șuvoiul asupra ei, ea s-a prăbușit îndată, și prăbușirea acestei case a fost mare."
