1 Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the passover, drew nigh, 2 and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. 3 And Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariote, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And he went away and spoke with the chief priests and captains as to how he should deliver him up to them. 5 And they were rejoiced, and agreed to give him money. 6 And he came to an agreement to do it, and sought an opportunity to deliver him up to them away from the crowd.

7 And the day of unleavened bread came, in which the passover was to be killed. 8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare the passover for us, that we may eat it. 9 But they said to him, Where wilt thou that we prepare it? 10 And he said to them, Behold, as ye enter into the city a man will meet you, carrying an earthen pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goes in; 11 and ye shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher says to thee, Where is the guest-chamber where I may eat the passover with my disciples? 12 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. 13 And having gone they found it as he had said to them; and they prepared the passover. 14 And when the hour was come, he placed himself at table, and the twelve apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I say unto you, that I will not eat any more at all of it until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. 17 And having received a cup, when he had given thanks he said, Take this and divide it among yourselves. 18 For I say unto you, that I will not drink at all of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God come. 19 And having taken a loaf, when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave it to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 In like manner also the cup, after having supped, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

21 Moreover, behold, the hand of him that delivers me up is with me on the table; 22 and the Son of man indeed goes as it is determined, but woe unto that man by whom he is delivered up. 23 And they began to question together among themselves who then it could be of them who was about to do this. 24 And there was also a strife among them which of them should be held to be the greatest. 25 And he said to them, The kings of the nations rule over them, and they that exercise authority over them are called benefactors. 26 But yeshall not be thus; but let the greater among you be as the younger, and the leader as he that serves. 27 For which is greater, he that is at table or he that serves? Is not he that is at table? But I am in the midst of you as the one that serves. 28 But ye are they who have persevered with me in my temptations. 29 And I appoint unto you, as my Father has appointed unto me, a kingdom, 30 that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to have you, to sift you as wheat; 32 but I have besought for thee that thy faith fail not; and thou, when once thou hast been restored, confirm thy brethren. 33 And he said to him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and to death. 34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow to-day before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. 35 And he said to them, When I sent you without purse and scrip and sandals, did ye lack anything? And they said, Nothing. 36 He said therefore to them, But now he that has a purse let him take it, in like manner also a scrip, and he that has none let him sell his garment and buy a sword; 37 for I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned with the lawless: for also the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

39 And going forth he went according to his custom to the mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed him. 40 And when he was at the place he said to them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and having knelt down he prayed, 42 saying, Father, if thou wilt remove this cup from me: — but then, not my will, but thine be done. 43 And an angel appeared to him from heaven strengthening him. 44 And being in conflict he prayed more intently. And his sweat became as great drops of blood, falling down upon the earth. 45 And rising up from his prayer, coming to the disciples, he found them sleeping from grief. 46 And he said to them, Why sleep ye? rise up and pray that ye enter not into temptation.

47 As he was yet speaking, behold, a crowd, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went on before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him. 48 And Jesus said to him, Judas, deliverest thou up the Son of man with a kiss? 49 And they who were around him, seeing what was going to follow, said to him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? 50 And a certain one from among them smote the bondman of the high priest and took off his right ear. 51 And Jesus answering said, Suffer thus far; and having touched his ear, he healed him. 52 And Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, who were come against him, Have ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks? 53 When I was day by day with you in the temple ye did not stretch out your hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of darkness.

54 And having laid hold on him, they led him away, and they led him into the house of the high priest. And Peter followed afar off. 55 And they having lit a fire in the midst of the court and sat down together, Peter sat among them. 56 And a certain maid, having seen him sitting by the light, and having fixed her eyes upon him, said, And this man was with him. 57 But he denied him, saying, Woman, I do not know him. 58 And after a short time another seeing him said, And thou art of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not. 59 And after the lapse of about one hour another stoutly maintained it, saying, In truth this man also was with him, for also he is a Galilaean. 60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he was yet speaking, the cock crew. 61 And the Lord, turning round, looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he said to him, Before the cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice. 62 And Peter, going forth without, wept bitterly.

63 And the men who held him mocked him, beating him; 64 and covering him up, asked him saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck thee? 65 And they said many other injurious things to him. 66 And when it was day, the elderhood of the people, both the chief priests and scribes, were gathered together, and led him into their council, saying, 67 If thou art the Christ, tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, ye will not at all believe; 68 and if I should ask you, ye would not answer me at all, nor let me go; 69 but henceforth shall the Son of man be sitting on the right hand of the power of God. 70 And they all said, Thou then art the Son of God? And he said to them, Ye say that I am. 71 And they said, What need have we any more of witness, for we have heard ourselves out of his mouth?

Satana a intrat în Iuda, zis și Iscarioteanul, care era din numărul celor doisprezece. 4 Iuda s-a dus să se înțeleagă cu preoții cei mai de seamă și cu căpeteniile străjerilor Templului cum să-L dea în mâinile lor. 5 Ei s-au bucurat și au căzut*Zah. 11:12. la învoială să-i dea bani. 6 După ce le-a făgăduit că li-L va da în mâini, Iuda căuta un prilej nimerit să dea pe Isus în mâinile lor, fără știrea norodului.

7 Ziua*Mat. 26:17.Marcu 14:12. Praznicului Azimilor, în care trebuiau jertfite Paștele, a venit. 8 Și Isus a trimis pe Petru și pe Ioan și le-a zis: „Duceți-vă de pregătiți-ne Paștele, ca să mâncăm."9 „Unde voiești să pregătim?", L-au întrebat ei. 10 El le-a răspuns: „Iată, când veți intra în cetate, vă va ieși înainte un om, ducând un urcior cu apă; mergeți după el în casa în care va intra11 și spuneți stăpânului casei: ‘Învățătorul îți zice: «Unde este odaia pentru oaspeți, în care să mănânc Paștele cu ucenicii Mei?»’12 Și are să vă arate o odaie mare de sus, așternută gata: acolo să pregătiți Paștele."13 Ei au plecat și au găsit așa cum le spusese El. Și au pregătit Paștele. 14 Când*Mat. 26:20.Marcu 14:17. a sosit ceasul, Isus a șezut la masă cu cei doisprezece apostoli. 15 El le-a zis: „Am dorit mult să mănânc Paștele acestea cu voi înainte de patima Mea;16 căci vă spun că, de acum încolo, nu le voi mai mânca până*Cap. 14:15.Fapte 10:41.Apoc. 19:9.la împlinirea lor în Împărăția lui Dumnezeu."17 Și a luat un pahar, a mulțumit lui Dumnezeu și a zis: „Luați paharul acesta și împărțiți-l între voi,18 pentru că vă spun*Mat. 26:29.Marcu 14:25.că nu voi mai bea de acum încolo din rodul viței, până când va veni Împărăția lui Dumnezeu."19 Apoi*Mat. 26:26.Marcu 14:22. a luat pâine și, după ce a mulțumit lui Dumnezeu, a frânt-o și le-a dat-o zicând: „Acesta este trupul Meu, care se dă pentru voi; să faceți lucrul acesta*1 Cor. 11:24.spre pomenirea Mea."20 Tot astfel, după ce au mâncat, a luat paharul și li l-a dat, zicând: „Acest*1 Cor. 10:16.pahar este legământul cel nou, făcut în sângele Meu, care se varsă pentru voi.

21 Dar*Ps. 41:9.Mat. 26:21,23.Marcu 14:18.Ioan 13:21,26.iată că mâna vânzătorului Meu este cu Mine la masa aceasta.22 Negreșit*Mat. 26:24., Fiul omului Se duce după cum*Fapte 2:23;4:28.este rânduit. Dar vai de omul acela prin care este vândut El!"23 Și*Mat. 26:22.Ioan 13:22,35. au început să se întrebe unii pe alții cine din ei să fie acela care va face lucrul acesta.

24 Între apostoli s-a*Marcu 9:34. Cap. 9:46. iscat și o ceartă, ca să știe care din ei avea să fie socotit ca cel mai mare. 25 Isus le-a*Mat. 20:25.Marcu 10:42. zis: „Împărații neamurilor domnesc peste ele și, celor ce le stăpânesc, li se dă numele de binefăcători.26 Voi*Mat. 20:26.1 Pet. 5:3.să nu fiți așa. Ci*Cap. 9:48.cel mai mare dintre voi să fie ca cel mai mic și cel ce cârmuiește, ca cel ce slujește.27 Căci*Cap. 12:37.care este mai mare: cine stă la masă sau cine slujește la masă? Nu cine stă la masă? Și Eu*Mat. 20:28.Ioan 13:13,14.Filip. 2:7.totuși sunt în mijlocul vostru ca cel ce slujește la masă.28 Voi sunteți aceia care ați rămas necontenit cu Mine în încercările*Evr. 4:15.Mele.29 De aceea vă*Mat. 24:47. Cap. 12:32.2 Cor. 1:7.2 Tim. 2:12.pregătesc Împărăția, după cum Tatăl Meu Mi-a pregătit-o Mie,30 ca*Mat. 8:11. Cap. 14:15.Apoc. 19:9.să mâncați și să beți la masa Mea în Împărăția Mea și să*Ps. 49:14.Mat. 19:28.1 Cor. 6:2.Apoc. 3:21.ședeți pe scaune de domnie, ca să judecați pe cele douăsprezece seminții ale lui Israel."

31 Domnul a zis: „Simone, Simone, Satana*1 Pet. 5:8.v-a cerut să vă cearnă*Amos 9:9.ca grâul.32 Dar Eu*Ioan 17:9,11,15.M-am rugat pentru tine, ca să nu se piardă credința ta și, după ce te*Ps. 51:13.Ioan 21:15-17.vei întoarce la Dumnezeu, să întărești pe frații tăi."33 „Doamne", I-a zis Petru, „cu Tine sunt gata să merg chiar și în temniță și la moarte." 34 Și*Mat. 26:34.Marcu 14:30.Ioan 13:38. Isus i-a zis: „Petre, îți spun că nu va cânta astăzi cocoșul, până te vei lepăda de trei ori că nu Mă cunoști."35 Apoi*Mat. 10:9. Cap. 9:3;10:4., le-a mai zis: „Când v-am trimis fără pungă, fără traistă și fără încălțăminte, ați dus voi lipsă de ceva?" „De nimic", I-au răspuns ei. 36 Și El le-a zis: „Acum, dimpotrivă, cine are o pungă s-o ia; cine are o traistă de asemenea s-o ia și cine n-are sabie să-și vândă haina și să-și cumpere o sabie.37 Căci vă spun că trebuie să se împlinească cu Mine aceste cuvinte scrise: ‘El*Is. 53:12.Marcu 15:28.a fost pus în numărul celor fărădelege.’ Și lucrurile privitoare la Mine sunt gata să se împlinească."38 „Doamne", I-au zis ei, „iată aici două săbii." Și El le-a zis: „Destul!"

39 După ce*Mat. 26:36.Marcu 14:32.Ioan 18:1. a ieșit afară, S-a*Cap. 21:37. dus, ca de obicei, în Muntele Măslinilor. Ucenicii Lui au mers după El. 40 Când*Mat. 6:13;26:41.Marcu 14:38. Vers. 46. a ajuns la locul acela, le-a zis: „Rugați-vă, ca să nu cădeți în ispită."41 Apoi*Mat. 26:39.Marcu 14:35. S-a depărtat de ei ca la o aruncătură de piatră, a îngenuncheat și a început să Se roage, 42 zicând: „Tată, dacă voiești, depărtează paharul acesta de la Mine! Totuși facă-se nu*Ioan 5:30;6:38.voia Mea, ci a Ta."43 Atunci I s-a arătat un înger*Mat. 4:11. din cer, ca să-L întărească. 44 A*Ioan 12:27.Evr. 5:7. ajuns într-un chin ca de moarte și a început să Se roage și mai fierbinte; și sudoarea I se făcuse ca niște picături mari de sânge, care cădeau pe pământ. 45 După ce S-a rugat, S-a sculat și a venit la ucenici; i-a găsit adormiți de întristare 46 și le-a zis: „Pentru ce dormiți? Sculați-vă și rugați-vă*Vers. 40., ca să nu cădeți în ispită."

47 Pe când grăia El încă, iată*Mat. 26:47.Marcu 14:43.Ioan 18:3. că a venit o gloată. Și cel ce se chema Iuda, unul din cei doisprezece, mergea în fruntea lor. El s-a apropiat de Isus, ca să-L sărute. 48 Și Isus i-a zis: „Iudo, cu o sărutare vinzi tu pe Fiul omului?"49 Cei ce erau cu Isus au văzut ce avea să se întâmple și au zis: „Doamne, să lovim cu sabia?" 50 Și unul*Mat. 26:51.Marcu 14:47.Ioan 18:10. din ei a lovit pe robul marelui preot și i-a tăiat urechea dreaptă. 51 Dar Isus a luat cuvântul și a zis: „Lăsați-i! Până aici!" Și S-a atins de urechea omului aceluia și l-a vindecat. 52 Isus*Mat. 26:55.Marcu 14:48. a zis apoi preoților celor mai de seamă, căpeteniilor străjerilor Templului și bătrânilor, care veniseră împotriva Lui: „Ați ieșit după Mine ca după un tâlhar, cu săbii și cu ciomege?53 În toate zilele eram cu voi în Templu, și n-ați pus mâna pe Mine. Dar*Ioan 12:27.acesta este ceasul vostru și puterea întunericului."

54 După ce*Mat. 26:57. au pus mâna pe Isus, L-au dus și L-au băgat în casa marelui preot. Petru mergea*Mat. 26:58.Ioan 18:15. după El de departe. 55 Au*Mat. 26:69.Marcu 14:66.Ioan 18:17,18. aprins un foc în mijlocul curții și au șezut jos. Petru s-a așezat și el printre ei. 56 O slujnică l-a văzut cum ședea la para focului, s-a uitat țintă la el și a zis: „Și omul acesta era cu El." 57 Dar Petru s-a lepădat și a zis: „Femeie, nu-L cunosc." 58 Peste*Mat. 26:71.Marcu 14:69.Ioan 18:25. puțin, l-a văzut un altul și a zis: „Și tu ești unul din oamenii aceia." Iar Petru a zis: „Omule, nu sunt dintre ei." 59 Cam*Mat. 26:73.Marcu 14:70.Ioan 18:26. după un ceas, un altul întărea același lucru și zicea: „Nu mai încape îndoială că și omul acesta era cu El, căci este galileean." 60 Petru a răspuns: „Omule, nu știu ce zici." Chiar în clipa aceea, pe când vorbea el încă, a cântat cocoșul. 61 Domnul S-a întors și S-a uitat țintă la Petru. Și*Mat. 26:75.Marcu 14:72. Petru și-a adus aminte de vorba pe care i-o spusese Domnul: „Înainte*Mat. 26:34,75.Ioan 13:38.ca să cânte cocoșul, te vei lepăda de Mine de trei ori."62 Și a ieșit afară și a plâns cu amar.

63 Oamenii*Mat. 26:67,68.Marcu 14:65. care păzeau pe Isus Îl batjocoreau și-L băteau. 64 L-au legat la ochi, Îl loveau peste față și-L întrebau, zicând: „Prorocește, cine Te-a lovit?" 65 Și rosteau împotriva Lui multe alte batjocuri. 66 Când*Mat. 27:1. s-a făcut ziuă, bătrânii norodului, preoții cei mai de seamă și cărturarii s-au*Fapte 4:26;22:5. adunat împreună și au adus pe Isus în Soborul lor. Ei I-au zis: 67 „Dacă*Mat. 26:63.Marcu 14:61. ești Tu Hristosul, spune-ne!" Isus le-a răspuns: „Dacă vă voi spune, nu veți crede68 și dacă vă voi întreba, nu-Mi veți răspunde, nici nu-Mi veți da drumul.69 De acum*Mat. 26:64.Marcu 14:62.Evr. 1:3;8:1.încolo, Fiul omului va ședea la dreapta puterii lui Dumnezeu."70 Toți au zis: „Ești Tu dar Fiul lui Dumnezeu?" Și El le-a răspuns: „Așa cum o spuneți*Mat. 26:64.Marcu 14:62.; da, sunt."71 Atunci*Mat. 26:65.Marcu 14:63. ei au zis: „Ce nevoie mai avem de mărturie? Noi înșine am auzit-o din gura Lui."
