Jó 40

 
1 ¶ Respondeu mais o SENHOR a Jó, dizendo: Moreover Jehovah answered Job, and said,
2 Porventura o contender contra o Todo-Poderoso é sabedoria? Quem argüi assim a Deus, responda por isso. Shall he that cavilleth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it.
3 Então Jó respondeu ao SENHOR, dizendo: Then Job answered Jehovah, and said,
4 Eis que sou vil; que te responderia eu? A minha mão ponho à boca. Behold, I am of small account; What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.
5 Uma vez tenho falado, e não replicarei; ou ainda duas vezes, porém não prosseguirei. Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.
6 ¶ Então o SENHOR respondeu a Jó de um redemoinho, dizendo: Then Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Cinge agora os teus lombos como homem; eu te perguntarei, e tu me explicarás. Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
8 Porventura também tornarás tu vão o meu juízo, ou tu me condenarás, para te justificares? Wilt thou even annul my judgment? Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified?
9 Ou tens braço como Deus, ou podes trovejar com voz como ele o faz? Or hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
10 Orna-te, pois, de excelência e alteza; e veste-te de majestade e de glória. Deck thyself now with excellency and dignity; And array thyself with honor and majesty.
11 Derrama os furores da tua ira, e atenta para todo o soberbo, e abate-o. Pour forth the overflowings of thine anger; And look upon every one that is proud, and abase him.
12 Olha para todo o soberbo, e humilha-o, e atropela os ímpios no seu lugar. Look on every one that is proud, [and] bring him low; And tread down the wicked where they stand.
13 Esconde-os juntamente no pó; ata-lhes os rostos em oculto. Hide them in the dust together; Bind their faces in the hidden [place].
14 Então também eu a ti confessarei que a tua mão direita te poderá salvar. Then will I also confess of thee That thine own right hand can save thee.
15 ¶ Contemplas agora o beemote, que eu fiz contigo, que come a erva como o boi. Behold now, behemoth, which I made as well as thee; He eateth grass as an ox.
16 Eis que a sua força está nos seus lombos, e o seu poder nos músculos do seu ventre. Lo now, his strength is in his loins, And his force is in the muscles of his belly.
17 Quando quer, move a sua cauda como cedro; os nervos das suas coxas estão entretecidos. He moveth his tail like a cedar: The sinews of his thighs are knit together.
18 Os seus ossos são como tubos de bronze; a sua ossada é como barras de ferro. His bones are [as] tubes of brass; His limbs are like bars of iron.
19 Ele é obra-prima dos caminhos de Deus; o que o fez o proveu da sua espada. He is the chief of the ways of God: He [only] that made him giveth him his sword.
20 Em verdade os montes lhe produzem pastos, onde todos os animais do campo folgam. Surely the mountains bring him forth food, Where all the beasts of the field do play.
21 Deita-se debaixo das árvores sombrias, no esconderijo das canas e da lama. He lieth under the lotus-trees, In the covert of the reed, and the fen.
22 As árvores sombrias o cobrem, com sua sombra; os salgueiros do ribeiro o cercam. The lotus-trees cover him with their shade; The willows of the brook compass him about.
23 ver mapa Eis que um rio transborda, e ele não se apressa, confiando ainda que o Jordão se levante até à sua boca. Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not; He is confident, though a Jordan swell even to his mouth.
24 Podê-lo-iam porventura caçar à vista de seus olhos, ou com laços lhe furar o nariz? Shall any take him when he is on the watch, Or pierce through his nose with a snare?
