1 Of the children of Ammon. Thus saith Jehovah: Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth Malcam possess Gad, and his people dwell in the cities thereof? 2 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon; and it shall become a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel possess them that did possess him, saith Jehovah. 3 Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste; cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth: lament, and run to and fro among the fences; for Malcam shall go into captivity, his priests and his princes together. 4 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me? 5 Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, from all that are round about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth, and there shall be none to gather together the fugitives. 6 But afterward I will bring back the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith Jehovah.

7 Of Edom. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished? 8 Flee ye, turn back, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I shall visit him. 9 If grape-gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, would they not destroy till they had enough? 10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is destroyed, and his brethren, and his neighbors; and he is not. 11 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me. 12 For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, they to whom it pertained not to drink of the cup shall assuredly drink; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink. 13 For I have sworn by myself, saith Jehovah, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.

14 I have heard tidings from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle. 15 For, behold, I have made thee small among the nations, and despised among men. 16 As for thy terribleness, the pride of thy heart hath deceived thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith Jehovah. 17 And Edom shall become an astonishment: every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof. 18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities thereof, saith Jehovah, no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man sojourn therein. 19 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoso is chosen, him will I appoint over it: for who is like me? and who will appoint me a time? and who is the shepherd that will stand before me?

20 Therefore hear ye the counsel of Jehovah, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they shall drag them away, even the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them. 21 The earth trembleth at the noise of their fall; there is a cry, the noise whereof is heard in the Red Sea. 22 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread out his wings against Bozrah: and the heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

23 Of Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard evil tidings, they are melted away: there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus is waxed feeble, she turneth herself to flee, and trembling hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail. 25 How is the city of praise not forsaken, the city of my joy? 26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be brought to silence in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts. 27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.

28 Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote.

Thus saith Jehovah: Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east. 29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take; they shall carry away for themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Terror on every side! 30 Flee ye, wander far off, dwell in the depths, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith Jehovah; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you. 31 Arise, get you up unto a nation that is at ease, that dwelleth without care, saith Jehovah; that have neither gates nor bars, that dwell alone. 32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter unto all winds them that have the corners of their hair cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them, saith Jehovah. 33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling-place of jackals, a desolation for ever: no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man sojourn therein.

34 The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, 35 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might. 36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come. 37 And I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life; and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith Jehovah; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them: 38 and I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence king and princes, saith Jehovah. 39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring back the captivity of Elam, saith Jehovah.

Atunci pentru ce stăpânește Malcom Gadul*Amos 1:13. și locuiește poporul lui în cetățile lui? 2 De aceea, iată că vin zile", zice Domnul, „când voi face să răsune strigătul de război împotriva Rabei*Ezec. 25:5.Amos 1:14. copiilor lui Amon. Ea va ajunge un morman de dărâmături, și satele sale vor fi arse de foc. Atunci, Israel va izgoni pe cei ce-l izgoniseră", zice Domnul. 3 „Gemi, Hesbonule, căci Ai este pustiit! Strigați, fiicele Rabei, îmbrăcați-vă*Is. 32:11. Cap. 4:8; 6:26. cu saci și bociți-vă, alergând încoace și încolo de-a lungul zidurilor! Căci Malcom se duce în robie cu preoții*Cap. 48:7.Amos 1:15. și căpeteniile sale! 4 Ce te lauzi cu văile? Valea ta se scurge, fiică*Cap. 3:14;7:24. răzvrătită, care te încredeai în vistieriile tale și*Cap. 21:13. ziceai: ‘Cine va veni împotriva mea?’ 5 Iată, voi aduce groaza peste tine", zice Domnul Dumnezeul oștirilor; „ea va veni din toate împrejurimile tale, fiecare din voi va fi izgonit drept înainte, și nimeni nu va strânge pe fugari! 6 Dar, după aceea*Vers. 39. Cap. 48:47., voi aduce înapoi pe prinșii de război ai copiilor lui Amon", zice Domnul. 7 Asupra*Ezec. 25:12.Amos 1:11. Edomului.

Așa vorbește Domnul oștirilor: „Nu*Obad. 8. mai este înțelepciune în Teman? A pierit*Is. 19:1. chibzuința de la oamenii pricepuți? S-a dus înțelepciunea lor? 8 Fugiți*Vers. 30., dați dosul, plecați în peșteri, locuitori ai*Cap. 25:23. Dedanului! Căci voi aduce nenorocirea peste Esau la vremea când îl voi pedepsi. 9 Oare, dacă ar veni niște*Obad. 5. culegători de struguri la tine, nu ți-ar lăsa nimic de cules pe urma culegătorilor? Dacă ar veni niște hoți noaptea, n-ar pustii decât până s-ar sătura! 10 Dar*Mal. 1:3. Eu Însumi voi despuia pe Esau, îi voi descoperi ascunzătorile și*Is. 17:14. nu va putea să se ascundă. Copiii lui, frații lui, vecinii lui vor pieri, și el nu va mai fi! 11 Lasă pe orfanii tăi! Eu îi voi ține în viață, și văduvele tale să se încreadă în Mine!" 12 Căci așa vorbește Domnul: „Iată*Cap. 25:29.Obad. 16. că cei ce nu trebuiau să bea potirul totuși îl vor bea, și tu să rămâi nepedepsit? Nu, nu vei rămâne nepedepsit, ci îl vei bea și tu! 13 Căci pe Mine Însumi jur*Gen. 22:16.Is. 45:23.Amos 6:8.", zice Domnul, „că Boțra*Is. 34:6;63:1. va fi dată pradă pustiirii, ocării, nimicirii și blestemului, și toate cetățile ei se vor preface în niște dărâmături veșnice." 14 Am auzit o veste*Obad. 1,2,3. de la Domnul și un sol a fost trimis printre neamuri: „Strângeți-vă și porniți împotriva ei! Sculați-vă pentru război! 15 Căci iată, te voi face mic printre neamuri, disprețuit printre oameni. 16 Înfumurarea ta, îngâmfarea inimii tale, te-a rătăcit pe tine, care locuiești în crăpăturile stâncilor și care stai pe vârful dealurilor. Dar, chiar*Obad. 4. dacă ți-ai așeza cuibul*Iov 39:27. tot atât de sus ca al vulturului, și de acolo*Amos 9:2. te voi prăbuși", zice Domnul. 17 „Edomul va fi pustiit; toți*Cap. 18:16;50:13. cei ce vor trece pe lângă el se vor mira și vor fluiera pentru toate rănile lui. 18 Ca*Gen. 19:25.Deut. 29:23. Cap. 50:40.Amos 4:11. și Sodoma și Gomora și cetățile vecine care au fost nimicite", zice Domnul, „nici el nu va mai fi locuit și nimeni nu se va mai așeza acolo… 19 Iată*Cap. 50:44., vrăjmașul se suie ca un leu de pe malurile*Cap. 12:5. îngâmfate ale Iordanului împotriva locuinței tale tari; deodată voi face Edomul să fugă de acolo și voi pune peste el pe acela pe care l-am ales. Căci cine*Exod 15:11. este ca Mine? Cine-Mi*Iov 41:10. va porunci? Cine-Mi va sta împotrivă?" 20 De aceea*Cap. 50:45., ascultați hotărârea pe care a luat-o Domnul împotriva Edomului și planurile pe care le-a făcut împotriva locuitorilor din Teman: „Cu adevărat, îi vor târî ca pe niște oi slabe, cu adevărat li se va pustii locuința! 21 De vuietul căderii lor se cutremură*Cap. 50:46. pământul; strigătul lor se aude până la Marea Roșie… 22 Iată*Cap. 4:13;48:40,41., ca vulturul înaintează vrăjmașul și zboară, își întinde aripile peste Boțra și în ziua aceea inima vitejilor Edomului este ca inima unei femei în durerile nașterii." 23 Asupra Damascului*Is. 17:1;37:13.Amos 1:3.Zah. 9:1,2.:

„Hamatul și Arpadul sunt roșii de rușine, căci au auzit o veste rea și tremură; frica lor este ca*Is. 57:20. o mare înfuriată, care nu se poate potoli. 24 Damascul este topit, se întoarce să fugă, îl ia groaza, îl apucă neliniștea*Is. 13:8. Cap. 4:31; 6:24;30:6; 48:41. Vers. 22. și durerile, ca pe o femeie în durerile nașterii. – 25 Ah, cum nu este cruțată cetatea*Cap. 33:9;51:41. slăvită, cetatea bucuriei mele*Cap. 50:30;51:4.! – 26 De aceea tinerii*Amos 1:4. ei vor cădea pe ulițe și toți bărbații ei de război vor pieri în ziua aceea", zice Domnul oștirilor. 27 „Voi pune foc*Is. 21:13. zidurilor Damascului și va mistui casele împărătești din Ben-Hadad." 28 Asupra Chedarului*Jud. 6:3. și împărățiilor Hațorului, pe care le-a bătut Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului.

Așa vorbește*Iov 1:3. Domnul: „Sculați-vă, suiți-vă împotriva Chedarului și nimiciți pe fiii Răsăritului! 29 Le vor lua corturile*Ps. 120:5. și turmele, le vor ridica pânzele, tot calabalâcul și cămilele și le vor striga: ‘Spaimă*Cap. 6:25;46:5., de jur împrejur!’ 30 Fugiți*Vers. 8., fugiți din toate puterile voastre, căutați o locuință deoparte, locuitori ai Hațorului", zice Domnul, „căci Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului, a luat o hotărâre împotriva voastră, a făcut un plan împotriva voastră! 31 Sculați-vă, suiți-vă împotriva unui neam*Ezec. 38:11. liniștit, care locuiește fără teamă", zice Domnul; „n-are nici porți, nici zăvoare și locuiește*Num. 23:9.Deut. 33:28.Mica 7:14. singur. 32 Cămilele lor vor fi de jaf și mulțimea turmelor lor vor fi o pradă. Voi risipi*Vers. 36.Ezec. 5:10. în toate vânturile pe ei, cei ce-și rad*Cap. 9:26;25:23. colțurile bărbii, și le voi aduce pieirea din toate părțile", zice Domnul. 33 „Hațorul*Cap. 9:21;10:22.Mal. 1:3. va fi astfel vizuina șacalilor, un pustiu pe vecie; nimeni*Vers. 18. nu va locui în el și niciun om nu va ședea în el." 34 Cuvântul Domnului, care a fost spus prorocului Ieremia, asupra Elamului*Cap. 25:25., la începutul domniei lui Zedechia, împăratul lui Iuda, sună astfel: 35 „Așa vorbește Domnul oștirilor: ‘Iată, voi sfărâma arcul Elamului*Is. 22:6., puterea lui de căpetenie. 36 Voi aduce asupra Elamului cele patru vânturi de la cele patru margini ale cerului, îi voi risipi în toate vânturile*Vers. 32. acestea și nu va fi niciun popor la care să n-ajungă fugari din Elam. 37 Voi face ca locuitorii Elamului să tremure înaintea vrăjmașilor lor și înaintea celor ce vor să-i omoare. Voi aduce nenorociri peste ei, mânia Mea aprinsă’, zice Domnul, ‘și-i voi urmări*Cap. 9:16;48:2. cu sabia până ce îi voi nimici. 38 Îmi voi așeza scaunul de domnie în Elam*Cap. 43:10. și-i voi nimici împăratul și căpeteniile’, zice Domnul. 39 ‘Dar în zilele de apoi*Cap. 48:47. Vers. 6. voi aduce înapoi pe prinșii de război ai Elamului’, zice Domnul."
