1 At that time, saith Jehovah, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. 2 Thus saith Jehovah, The people that were left of the sword found favor in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest. 3 Jehovah appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. 4 Again will I build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: again shalt thou be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. 5 Again shalt thou plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall enjoy the fruit thereof. 6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the hills of Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto Jehovah our God.

7 For thus saith Jehovah, Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout for the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Jehovah, save thy people, the remnant of Israel. 8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall they return hither. 9 They shall come with weeping; and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way wherein they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born.

10 Hear the word of Jehovah, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off; and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. 11 For Jehovah hath ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. 12 And they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow unto the goodness of Jehovah, to the grain, and to the new wine, and to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. 13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. 14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith Jehovah.

15 Thus saith Jehovah: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; she refuseth to be comforted for her children, because they are not. 16 Thus saith Jehovah: Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears; for thy work shall be rewarded, saith Jehovah; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. 17 And there is hope for thy latter end, saith Jehovah; and thy children shall come again to their own border. 18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus, Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a calf unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art Jehovah my God. 19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth. 20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a darling child? for as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my heart yearneth for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith Jehovah.

21 Set thee up waymarks, make thee guide-posts; set thy heart toward the highway, even the way by which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities. 22 How long wilt thou go hither and thither, O thou backsliding daughter? for Jehovah hath created a new thing in the earth: A woman shall encompass a man.

23 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Yet again shall they use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity: Jehovah bless thee, O habitation of righteousness, O mountain of holiness. 24 And Judah and all the cities thereof shall dwell therein together, the husbandmen, and they that go about with flocks. 25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and every sorrowful soul have I replenished. 26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

27 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast. 28 And it shall come to pass that, like as I have watched over them to pluck up and to break down and to overthrow and to destroy and to afflict, so will I watch over them to build and to plant, saith Jehovah. 29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. 30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.

31 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was a husband unto them, saith Jehovah. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Jehovah: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.

35 Thus saith Jehovah, who giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirreth up the sea, so that the waves thereof roar; Jehovah of hosts is his name: 36 If these ordinances depart from before me, saith Jehovah, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. 37 Thus saith Jehovah: If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, then will I also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith Jehovah.

38 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that the city shall be built to Jehovah from the tower of Hananel unto the gate of the corner. 39 And the measuring line shall go out further straight onward unto the hill Gareb, and shall turn about unto Goah. 40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto Jehovah; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.

Dumnezeul tuturor semințiilor lui Israel, și ei vor fi poporul meu." 2 Așa vorbește Domnul: „Poporul celor ce-au scăpat de sabie a căpătat trecere în pustie: Israel merge*Num. 10:33.Deut. 1:33.Ps. 95:11.Is. 63:14. spre locul lui de odihnă." 3 Domnul mi Se arată de departe: „Te iubesc*Mal. 1:2. cu o iubire*Rom. 11:28,29. veșnică, de aceea îți păstrez*Osea 11:4. bunătatea Mea! 4 Te voi așeza*Cap. 33:7. din nou, și vei fi așezată din nou, fecioara lui Israel! Te vei împodobi iarăși cu timpanele*Exod 15:20.Jud. 11:34.Ps. 149:3. tale și vei ieși în mijlocul jocurilor voioase. 5 Vei sădi*Is. 65:21.Amos 9:14. iarăși vii pe înălțimile Samariei; cei ce le vor sădi le vor culege și roadele. 6 Căci vine ziua când străjerii vor striga pe muntele lui Efraim: ‘Sculați-vă*Is. 2:3.Mica 4:2. să ne suim în Sion, la Domnul Dumnezeul nostru!’" 7 Căci așa vorbește Domnul: „Strigați*Is. 12:5,6. de bucurie asupra lui Iacov, chiuiți de veselie în fruntea neamurilor! Înălțați-vă glasurile, cântați laude și ziceți: ‘Doamne, izbăvește pe poporul Tău, pe rămășița lui Israel!’ 8 Iată, îi aduc înapoi din țara*Cap. 3:12,18;23:8. de la miazănoapte, îi adun*Ezec. 20:34,41;34:13. de la marginile pământului: între ei este și orbul și șchiopul, femeia însărcinată și cea în durerile nașterii; o mare mulțime se întoarce înapoi aici! 9 Plângând vin*Ps. 126:5,6. Cap. 50:4. și îi duc în mijlocul rugăciunilor lor; îi duc la*Is. 35:8;43:19;49:10,11. râuri de apă, pe un drum neted pe care nu se poticnesc. Căci Eu sunt Tatăl lui Israel, și Efraim este întâiul Meu născut*Exod 4:22.. 10 Ascultați Cuvântul Domnului, neamuri, și vestiți-l în ostroave depărtate! Spuneți: ‘Cel ce a risipit pe Israel îl va aduna*Is. 40:11.Ezec. 34:12-14. și-l va păzi cum își păzește păstorul turma.’ 11 Căci Domnul*Is. 44:23;48:20. răscumpără pe Iacov și-l izbăvește din*Is. 49:24,25. mâna unuia mai tare decât el. 12 Ei vor veni și vor chiui de bucurie pe înălțimile*Ezec. 17:23;20:40. Sionului; vor alerga la bunătățile*Osea 3:5. Domnului, la grâu, la must, la untdelemn, la oi și boi; sufletul le va fi ca o grădină bine*Is. 58:11. udată și nu vor mai*Is. 35:10;65:19.Apoc. 21:4. tânji. 13 Atunci, fetele se vor veseli la joc, tinerii și bătrânii se vor bucura și ei; le voi preface jalea în veselie și-i voi mângâia, le voi da bucurie după necazurile lor. 14 Voi sătura de grăsime sufletul preoților și poporul Meu se va sătura de bunătățile Mele", zice Domnul. 15 Așa vorbește Domnul: „Un țipăt*Mat. 2:17,18. se aude la Rama*Ios. 18:25., plângeri și lacrimi amare: Rahela își plânge copiii și nu vrea să se mângâie pentru copiii ei, căci nu mai*Gen. 42:13. sunt!" 16 Așa vorbește Domnul: „Oprește-ți plânsul, oprește-ți lacrimile din ochi, căci truda îți va fi răsplătită", zice Domnul; „ei se vor întoarce*Vers. 4,5.Ezra 1:5.Osea 1:11. iarăși din țara vrăjmașului. 17 Este nădejde pentru urmașii tăi", zice Domnul; „copiii tăi se vor întoarce în ținutul lor! 18 Aud pe Efraim bocindu-se: ‘M-ai pedepsit și am fost pedepsit ca un junc nedeprins la jug; întoarce-mă*Plâng. 5:21. Tu, și mă voi întoarce, căci Tu ești Domnul Dumnezeul meu! 19 După ce m-am întors*Deut. 30:2., m-am căit și, după ce mi-am recunoscut greșelile, mă bat pe pulpă; sunt rușinat și roșu de rușine, căci port ocara tinereții mele.’ 20 Îmi este Efraim un fiu scump, un copil iubit de Mine? Căci, când vorbesc de el, Îmi aduc aminte cu gingășie de el, de aceea Îmi arde*Deut. 32:36.Is. 63:15.Osea 11:8. inima în Mine pentru el și voi avea milă*Is. 57:18.Osea 14:4. negreșit de el", zice Domnul. 21 „Ridică semne pe drum, pune stâlpi, ia*Cap. 50:5. seama la cale, la drumul pe care l-ai urmat… Întoarce-te, fecioara lui Israel, întoarce-te în cetățile acestea care sunt ale tale! 22 Până când*Cap. 2:18,23,26. vei fi pribeagă, fiică rătăcită*Cap. 3:6,8,11,12,14,22.? Căci Domnul face un lucru nou pe pământ: femeia va peți pe bărbat."

23 Așa vorbește Domnul oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: „Iată ce se va zice iarăși în țara lui Iuda și în cetățile sale, când voi aduce înapoi pe prinșii lor de război: ‘Domnul*Ps. 122:5-8.Is. 1:26. să te binecuvânteze, locaș al neprihănirii, munte*Zah. 8:3. sfânt!’ 24 Iuda va locui acolo fără teamă în toate*Cap. 33:12,13. cetățile lui, plugarii și cei ce umblă cu turmele la pășune. 25 Căci voi răcori sufletul însetat și voi sătura orice suflet lihnit de foame." 26 (La aceste lucruri m-am trezit și am privit, și somnul îmi fusese dulce.) 27 „Iată vin zile", zice Domnul, „când voi însămânța*Ezec. 36:9-11.Osea 2:23.Zah. 10:9. casa lui Israel și casa lui Iuda cu o sămânță de oameni și o sămânță de dobitoace. 28 Și cum am vegheat*Cap. 44:27. asupra lor ca să-i smulg*Cap. 1:10;18:7., să-i tai, să-i dărâm, să-i nimicesc și să le fac rău, tot așa voi veghea asupra lor ca să-i zidesc și să-i*Cap. 24:6. sădesc", zice Domnul. 29 „În zilele*Ezec. 18:2,3. acelea, nu se va mai zice: ‘Părinții au mâncat aguridă, și copiilor li s-au strepezit dinții’, 30 ci fiecare*Gal. 6:5,7. va muri pentru nelegiuirea lui; oricărui om care va mânca aguridă i se vor strepezi dinții!

31 Iată*Cap. 32:40;33:14.Ezec. 37:26.Evr. 8:8-12;10:16,17., vin zile", zice Domnul, „când voi face cu casa lui Israel și cu casa lui Iuda un legământ nou. 32 Nu ca legământul pe care l-am încheiat cu părinții lor în ziua*Deut. 1:31. când i-am apucat de mână să-i scot din țara Egiptului, legământ pe care l-au călcat, măcar că aveam drepturi de soț asupra lor", zice Domnul. 33 „Ci iată legământul*Cap. 32:40. pe care-l voi face cu casa lui Israel după zilele acelea", zice Domnul: „Voi*Ps. 40:8.Ezec. 11:19,20;36:26,27.2 Cor. 3:3. pune Legea Mea înăuntrul lor, o voi scrie în inima lor, și Eu voi fi Dumnezeul*Cap. 24:7;30:22;32:38. lor, iar ei vor fi poporul Meu. 34 Niciunul nu va mai învăța pe aproapele sau pe fratele său, zicând: ‘Cunoaște pe Domnul!’ Ci toți*Is. 54:13.Ioan 6:45.1 Cor. 2:10.1 Ioan 2:20. Mă vor cunoaște, de la cel mai mic până la cel mai mare", zice Domnul, „căci le voi ierta*Cap. 33:8;50:20.Mica 7:18.Fapte 10:43;13:39.Rom. 11:27. nelegiuirea și nu-Mi voi mai aduce aminte de păcatul lor."

35 Așa vorbește Domnul, care a făcut soarele*Gen. 1:16.Ps. 72:5,17;89:2,36,37;119:91. să lumineze ziua, care a rânduit luna și stelele să lumineze noaptea, care întărâtă*Is. 51:15. marea și face valurile ei să urle, El, al cărui Nume este Domnul*Cap. 10:16. oștirilor: 36 „Dacă vor înceta aceste legi*Ps. 148:6.Is. 54:9,10. Cap. 33:20. dinaintea Mea", zice Domnul, „și neamul lui Israel va înceta pe vecie să mai fie un neam înaintea Mea!" 37 Așa vorbește Domnul: „Dacă cerurile sus*Cap. 33:22. pot fi măsurate și dacă temeliile pământului jos pot fi cercetate, atunci voi lepăda și Eu pe tot neamul lui Israel, pentru tot ce a făcut", zice Domnul. 38 „Iată, vin zile", zice Domnul, „când cetatea va fi zidită iarăși în cinstea Domnului, de la turnul lui Hananeel*Neem. 3:1.Zah. 14:10. până la Poarta Unghiului. 39 Frânghia*Ezec. 40:8.Zah. 2:1. de măsurat va trece încă pe dinaintea ei până la dealul Gareb și de acolo va face un ocol înspre Goat. 40 Toată valea unde se aruncă trupurile moarte și cenușa și toate ogoarele până la pârâul Chedron, până la unghiul porții*2 Cron. 23:15.Neem. 3:28. cailor, la răsărit, vor fi închinate*Ioel 3:17. Domnului și nu vor mai fi niciodată nici surpate, nici nimicite."
