ja kova onneni pantaisiin sen kanssa vaakaan!

ja Jumala toteuttaisi minun toivoni!

9 Jospa Jumala suvaitsisi musertaa minut,

ojentaa kätensä ja katkaista elämäni langan!

10 Niin olisi vielä lohdutuksenani —

ja ilosta minä hypähtäisin

säälimättömän tuskan alla —

etten ole kieltänyt Pyhän sanoja.

11 Mikä on minun voimani, että enää toivoisin,

ja mikä on loppuni, että tätä kärsisin?

12 Onko minun voimani vahva kuin kivi,

onko minun ruumiini vaskea?

13 Eikö minulla ole enää mitään apua,

onko pelastus minusta karkonnut?

14 Tuleehan ystävän olla laupias nääntyvälle,

29 Palatkaa, älköön vääryyttä tapahtuko;

palatkaa, vielä minä olen oikeassa siinä.

30 Olisiko minun kielelläni vääryys?

Eikö suulakeni tuntisi, mikä turmioksi on?"
