Psalms 29

A psalm of David.

1 Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,

ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

worship the Lord in the splendor of his*29:2 Or Lord with the splendor of holiness.

3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;

the God of glory thunders,

the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.

4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;

the voice of the Lord is majestic.

5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;

the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,

7 The voice of the Lord strikes

with flashes of lightning.

8 The voice of the Lord shakes the desert;

the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.

and strips the forests bare.

And in his temple all cry, "Glory!"

10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;

the Lord is enthroned as King forever.

11 The Lord gives strength to his people;

the Lord blesses his people with peace.

2 Atribuam ao Senhor a glória devida ao seu nome;

adorem ao Senhor no esplendor da sua santidade.*29.2 Ou do seu santuário.

3 A voz do Senhor ressoa sobre as águas;

o Deus da glória troveja,

o Senhor está sobre as muitas águas.

4 A voz do Senhor é poderosa;

a voz do Senhor é majestosa.

5 A voz do Senhor quebra os cedros;

o Senhor despedaça os cedros do Líbano.

6 Ele faz o Líbano saltar como bezerro,

e o Siriom*29.6 Isto é, o monte Hermom. como boi selvagem.

7 A voz do Senhor destrói

com raios flamejantes.

8 A voz do Senhor faz tremer o deserto;

o Senhor faz tremer o deserto de Cades.

9 A voz do Senhor retorce os carvalhos*29.9 Ou faz a corça dar cria.

e despe as florestas.

No seu templo todos clamam: "Glória!".

10 O Senhor está entronizado sobre o dilúvio;

o Senhor é o rei entronizado para sempre.

11 O Senhor dá força ao seu povo;

o Senhor abençoa o seu povo com a paz.
