1 As regiões desabitadas e o deserto exultarão;

a terra desolada se alegrará e florescerá como o açafrão.

2 Haverá muitas flores,

cânticos e alegria!

Os desertos se tornarão verdes como os montes do Líbano,

belos como o monte Carmelo e a planície de Sarom.

Ali o Senhor mostrará sua glória,

o esplendor de nosso Deus.

3 Fortaleçam os de mãos cansadas,

apoiem os de joelhos fracos.

4 Digam aos de coração temeroso:

"Sejam fortes e não temam,

pois seu Deus vem para vingar-se de seus inimigos;

ele vem para salvá-los".

5 Quando ele vier, abrirá os olhos dos cegos

e os ouvidos dos surdos.

6 Os aleijados pularão como o cervo,

e os mudos cantarão de alegria.

Fontes brotarão no deserto,

e rios correrão na região desolada.

7 O solo ressecado se tornará um açude,

e a terra sedenta, mananciais de água.

O capim, a cana e o junco florescerão

onde antes viviam os chacais do deserto.

8 Um caminho largo atravessará a terra antes desabitada

e será chamado Caminho de Santidade;

os impuros jamais passarão por ele.

Será somente para os que andam nos caminhos de Deus;

os tolos jamais andarão por ele.

9 Ao longo desse trajeto, leões não ficarão à espreita,

nem qualquer outro animal feroz.

Não haverá nenhum perigo;

somente os redimidos andarão por ele.

10 Os que foram resgatados pelo Senhor voltarão;

entrarão cantando em Sião,

coroados com alegria sem fim.

A tristeza e o lamento desaparecerão,

e eles ficarão cheios de alegria e felicidade.

1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. 2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.

5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. 7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.*35.7 grass…: or, a court for reeds, etc 8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.*35.8 but…: or, for he shall be with them 9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: 10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
