1 Desperte, desperte, ó Sião!

Vista-se de força!

Ponha suas lindas roupas, ó cidade santa de Jerusalém,

pois os incircuncisos e os impuros não entrarão mais por seus portões.

2 Levante-se do pó, ó Jerusalém,

sente-se no lugar de honra.

Tire de seu pescoço as correntes de escravidão,

ó cativa Sião.*52.2 Em hebraico, filha de Sião.

3 Pois assim diz o Senhor:

"Quando eu a vendi ao exílio,

não recebi pagamento algum.

Agora a resgatarei

sem ter de pagar por você".

4 Assim diz o Senhor Soberano: "Há muito tempo, meu povo escolheu morar no Egito. Agora, a Assíria os oprime sem nenhuma razão. 5 O que é isso?", pergunta o Senhor. "Por que meu povo foi escravizado novamente? Aqueles que os dominam gritam de alegria.*52.5a Conforme os manuscritos do mar Morto; o Texto Massorético traz Aqueles que os dominam se lamentam. Meu nome é blasfemado o dia inteiro.*52.5b A Septuaginta traz Os gentios continuam a blasfemar meu nome por causa de vocês. 7 Como são belos sobre os montes

os pés do mensageiro que traz boas-novas,

boas-novas de paz e salvação,

de que o Deus de Israel*52.7 Em hebraico, de Sião. reina!

8 Os vigias gritam e cantam de alegria,

pois, com os próprios olhos,

veem o Senhor voltar a Sião.

9 Que as ruínas de Jerusalém gritem de alegria,

pois o Senhor consolou seu povo;

ele resgatou Jerusalém.

10 O Senhor mostrou seu santo poder

diante dos olhos de todas as nações.

Todos os confins da terra verão

a salvação de nosso Deus.

11 Saiam! Saiam e deixem para trás o cativeiro,

não toquem no que é impuro.

Saiam daí e purifiquem-se,

vocês que levam de volta os objetos sagrados do Senhor.

12 Não partirão às pressas,

como quem foge para salvar a vida,

pois o Senhor irá à sua frente;

sim, o Deus de Israel os protegerá na retaguarda.

13 Vejam, meu servo terá êxito;

será muito exaltado.

14 Muitos, porém, ficaram espantados quando o viram:*52.14 Conforme a versão siríaca; o hebraico traz viram você.

seu rosto estava tão desfigurado que mal parecia humano;

por seu aspecto, quase não era possível reconhecê-lo como homem.

15 Ele causará assombro em*52.15a Ou purificará. muitas nações;

reis ficarão mudos diante dele,

pois verão aquilo que ninguém lhes havia falado,

entenderão aquilo que nunca tinham ouvido.*52.15b A Septuaginta traz Aqueles aos quais ele nunca foi anunciado verão, / e os que nunca ouviram falar dele entenderão. Comparar com Rm 15.21.

1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. 2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. 3 For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money. 4 For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause. 5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed. 6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.

7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! 8 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.

9 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem. 10 The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

11 Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD. 12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.*52.12 be…: Heb. gather you up

13 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.*52.13 deal…: or, prosper 14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: 15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
