1 Provérbios de Salomão, filho de David, rei de Israel, destinados a dar a conhecer a sabedoria, a dar educação; e a ensinar também a compreender palavras cheias de profundo sentido; para que se tenha um entendimento esclarecido; e para que se seja justo, recto, íntegro na vida.

4 Destinam-se ainda a formar e a enriquecer a mente das pessoas simples; a dar capacidade de compreensão aos jovens. E quanto aos que têm instrução, que aprofundem a sua sabedoria e se tornem hábeis na exploração do significado destas frases e pensamentos.

7 O temor do Senhor é o princípio de toda a sabedoria. Só os loucos recusam ser ensinados. Ouve o teu pai e a tua mãe e não desprezes o que te ensinarem, porque o que aprenderes deles dar-te-á segurança e proporcionar-te-á dignidade e honra.

1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:

2 For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;

3 For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;

4 For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.

5 A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,

6 By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7 The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
