Jó 39

 
1 ¶ Sabes tu o tempo em que as cabras montesas têm filhos, ou observastes as cervas quando dão suas crias? Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? [Or] canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
2 Contarás os meses que cumprem, ou sabes o tempo do seu parto? Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? Or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
3 Quando se encurvam, produzem seus filhos, e lançam de si as suas dores. They bow themselves, they bring forth their young, They cast out their pains.
4 Seus filhos enrijam, crescem com o trigo; saem, e nunca mais tornam para elas. Their young ones become strong, they grow up in the open field; They go forth, and return not again.
5 Quem despediu livre o jumento montês, e quem soltou as prisões ao jumento bravo, Who hath sent out the wild ass free? Or who hath loosed the bonds of the swift ass,
6 Ao qual dei o ermo por casa, e a terra salgada por morada? Whose home I have made the wilderness, And the salt land his dwelling-place?
7 Ri-se do ruído da cidade; não ouve os muitos gritos do condutor. He scorneth the tumult of the city, Neither heareth he the shoutings of the driver.
8 A região montanhosa é o seu pasto, e anda buscando tudo que está verde. The range of the mountains is his pasture, And he searcheth after every green thing.
9 Ou, querer-te-á servir o boi selvagem? Ou ficará no teu curral? Will the wild-ox be content to serve thee? Or will he abide by thy crib?
10 Ou com corda amarrarás, no arado, ao boi selvagem? Ou escavará ele os vales após ti? Canst thou bind the wild-ox with his band in the furrow? Or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
11 Ou confiarás nele, por ser grande a sua força, ou deixarás a seu cargo o teu trabalho? Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? Or wilt thou leave to him thy labor?
12 Ou fiarás dele que te torne o que semeaste e o recolha na tua eira? Wilt thou confide in him, that he will bring home thy seed, And gather [the grain] of thy threshing-floor?
13 ¶ A avestruz bate alegremente as suas asas, porém, são benignas as suas asas e penas? The wings of the ostrich wave proudly; [But] are they the pinions and plumage of love?
14 Ela deixa os seus ovos na terra, e os aquenta no pó, For she leaveth her eggs on the earth, And warmeth them in the dust,
15 E se esquece de que algum pé os pode pisar, ou que os animais do campo os podem calcar. And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, Or that the wild beast may trample them.
16 Endurece-se para com seus filhos, como se não fossem seus; debalde é seu trabalho, mas ela está sem temor, She dealeth hardly with her young ones, as if they were not hers: Though her labor be in vain, [she is] without fear;
17 Porque Deus a privou de sabedoria, e não lhe deu entendimento. Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, Neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
18 A seu tempo se levanta ao alto; ri-se do cavalo, e do que vai montado nele. What time she lifteth up herself on high, She scorneth the horse and his rider.
19 ¶ Ou darás tu força ao cavalo, ou revestirás o seu pescoço com crinas? Hast thou given the horse [his] might? Hast thou clothed his neck with the quivering mane?
20 Ou espantá-lo-ás, como ao gafanhoto? Terrível é o fogoso respirar das suas ventas. Hast thou made him to leap as a locust? The glory of his snorting is terrible.
21 Escava a terra, e folga na sua força, e sai ao encontro dos armados. He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: He goeth out to meet the armed men.
22 Ri-se do temor, e não se espanta, e não torna atrás por causa da espada. He mocketh at fear, and is not dismayed; Neither turneth he back from the sword.
23 Contra ele rangem a aljava, o ferro flamante da lança e do dardo. The quiver rattleth against him, The flashing spear and the javelin.
24 Agitando-se e indignando-se, serve a terra, e não faz caso do som da buzina. He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage; Neither believeth he that it is the voice of the trumpet.
25 Ao soar das buzinas diz: Eia! E cheira de longe a guerra, e o trovão dos capitães, e o alarido. As oft as the trumpet [soundeth] he saith, Aha! And he smelleth the battle afar off, The thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26 ¶ Ou voa o gavião pela tua inteligência, e estende as suas asas para o sul? Is it by thy wisdom that the hawk soareth, (And) stretcheth her wings toward the south?
27 Ou se remonta a águia ao teu mandado, e põe no alto o seu ninho? Is it at thy command that the eagle mounteth up, And maketh her nest on high?
28 Nas penhas mora e habita; no cume das penhas, e nos lugares seguros. On the cliff she dwelleth, and maketh her home, Upon the point of the cliff, and the stronghold.
29 Dali descobre a presa; seus olhos a avistam de longe. From thence she spieth out the prey; Her eyes behold it afar off.
30 E seus filhos chupam o sangue, e onde há mortos, ali está ela. Her young ones also suck up blood: And where the slain are, there is she.
